There is no impact to the rigid platform (shallow water) as the structure was piled into the seabed. The floating platform may experience certain degree of movement (as it was tied/anchored to the sea bed too). The worst is those who stays on the barge/vessel. In the worst situation, we need to retrieve anchors and sheltering at the nearest shore. I once experienced 2 days & nights laying on bed as we were hit by the typhoon from the Phillipines.
I worked in the early 80's on a Semi in the North Atlantic when we were hit by a storm where we had 65' waves. In fact it was so bad that the company realised too late that the movement of the heli deck was too much for evacuating most of the crew so we had to sit it out for a few hours - always something to remember even after all those years ago.👍👍👍

@@michellemaistry3170 Actually when I completed my 11 week commercial diving qualification course there were 2 guys who could not not swim but it would be very helpful. But I remember on the various ships many crew members could not swim, their attitude was if they fell overboard at sea they did not want to extend the suffering of drowning 😱. The legs on semi-submersible rigs do not hold oil, they just do the exploration/drilling and then once finished and the well is capped they then leave it to others to extract the oil. Most commercial diving (in my day!!!) did not require any qualifications like engineering as divers mostly carry out fairly manual tasks so being confortable at “working” underwater is by far the most important qualification.

They had full course meals four times a day to accommodate the workers that worked all night long. And every Friday was Seafood Day where we had our choice of Salmon, Halibut, Fried Shrimp, Crab Legs, Shrimp Cocktail and Lobster. Other days they served, Chicken, Pork Chops, Lasagna, Fettuccine, Spaghetti, Prime Rib and T-bone Steaks and every meal was all you could eat. And they also had a Salad Bar that was amazing. As for breakfast, it was pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns, bisquits and gravy, every cereal imaginable and eggs how you wanted them cooked. They also offered steak and eggs everyday for breakfast. But I must admit that it was the most dangerous jobs that I ever had. It was a good experience, but I'd never want to do that job again.
