    Hi Bob thanks for the video it will prove to be most helpful. I do have a recommendation though, for editing the csv file to change the site names. When the file is loaded into excel, highlight the relevant column, then go into the data tab in excel, then you should have an icon called text to column's. this will bring up a pop up box where you select the delimited option. click next and another pop up box will appear (step 2 of 3). click the option that says space and click next. On this pop up box (step 3 of 3) where it says destination click on the box to the right of it and it will let you select the cell you want to put the data to start. You can select the same column that has the data you wish to change. Click finish and excel will every word that's separated in a column of its own. Delete the data you dont need ie the address / postcode data and you should have in your original column just the campsite name. You can change thousands of campsites incredibly quickly this way. If you want the sat nav to read say Keswick Camping and Caravanning club site. This would also be easy to do. Just add the text you want it to say in the corresponding adjoining column in this case "Camping and Caravanning club site". then use a formula along the lines of c1+D1, which will combine the two. copy and paste the data as text into the correct column then delete all the other unnecessary columns. There you have it thousands of entries changed in minutes.

      The Avtex Tourer Two has loads of other POI pre loaded and amongst other things, has Foursquare. It just didn't have Camping and Caravanning Club Sites.

    Hi Bob, late comer to this. Brilliant information that helped me add the POI to our Tourer Three. However, I couldn’t find the Garmin app link on the C&MH website. I had to go directly to Garmin for that. Also when files uploaded to the Tourer Three, I didn’t have to do anymore than connect the Sat Nav to my PC, accept the PC on the Sat Nav and then transfer the files. Easy in the end.

    Hi Bob,
    Clear informative film, thanks for this.
    Can you explain how to remove a single, outdated POI folder and keep the more recently added folders on my Garmin Camper 660.
    Thanks in advance

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  2 года назад

      I've not done that myself but there are two options in the loader and one of them is to 'remove all previously installed custom POIs' if you choose that it will remove all POIs, but you must load you new ones again.

I also don’t have an option within personalise as per this video. Am I doing something wrong or does the unit come with the POI’s already installed now? Thank you

    Bob....is there a satnav that can be relied on to stop getting into difficult situations??
    Also does the CaMC have similar poi fIles?

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  2 года назад +1

      Generally The Avtex Two has been pretty good, but any sat nav is only as good as the information it has, so if a tiny lane is shown as a B Road, or a low bridge is not recorded, the sat nav will still suggest taking the route. Always add a check of the route and a dose of common sense! Yes the Caravan and Motorhome Club has POI files on their website but they're built in to the Avtex Tourer Two.

Does this satnav take you straight to campsite like troutbeck Or do you still need to follow instructions on motorhome and camping site. Regards rolf marivel baby ayesha and chance staffi

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  2 года назад

      You still need to read the instructions on the club website to make sure what roads you should avoid as there may local reasons. Any sat nav only knows where something is and if the roads and restrictions allow you to get there. Have a look at my videos on the sat nav. Crikey Bob, I hope you didn't edit all those csv files manually. Wouldn't Search & Replace have done it quicker? I also wanted to change the bmp image files on my Tom-tom for the club image but it wouldn't let me. Do you have the Club images on yours? Great info though.

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  2 года назад +1

      Yes but search and replace what, all different postcodes and telephone numbers, different lengths. Yes, I downloaded the bmp files that's the icons.

    • @BentleyOnTour
      @BentleyOnTour 2 года назад

      @@BobEarnshawMoHo So I think you had a '>' in a lot of them and then address and telephone numbers. Get search and replace to replace '>*' with '.' So * means any text. Therefore when it finds '>the Avenue, Southampton' it will replace it with a full stop. Or in your particular example use search '>*' and replace with 'CCC'. (ignoring the ')

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  2 года назад +1

      Yes, thanks, you can get rid of the > and text afterwards, but it still leaves you with the postcode. Use of the excel replace function would help if the addresses were all the same length. I think Jenny could do it with a database, but it only takes ten minutes to edit the file manually, anyway.
