@@letsfigurethisout5217 Thanks you for watching and for your kind words! Really love the combo that you have bought. Best hybrid travel combo!!! Enjoy the new gear.
I love this lens I made a video comparing it to all my primes and ended up replacing my 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm. I don't know why it's not getting more praise. I recommended it on a Canon photography Facebook page, and the L-Series owners all laughed. I love it on my Canon R8. Weather sealed, has L-Glass elements, and hardly any focus breathing... yes please.
Nice review. I started shooting with Canon in 2004 with a 20D and EF-S 10-22mm, 24-70mm 2.8 L, and 70-200mm 2.8 L as my ‘Holy Trinity’. I now shoot on R6mkII and replaced the 10-22mm with the 10-20mm f/4 and added a RF100-500mm and RF800mm f/11. Based on that experience if I were choosing a first lens for general shooting I’d opt for 24-70 or 24-105mm over the 28-70mm because indoor that extra 4mm on the wide end makes a difference in tight spaces and on the wide-end the 105 over the 70 if doing a lot of portraits people because a shooting distance of around 9ft produce the most flattering near/far perspective on faces (size of nose vs ears) and at that shooting distance 105mm will allow for tighter cropped in camera headshots. With a 70mm to get an in-camera crop head shot you’d need to move in closer to the point the size of the nose and width of face might not look as flatter by comparison.
@@TeddyCavachon many thanks for your kind words and for your opinion. I do agree with you on the focal length advantages 24-105 has over 28-70 but trust me when it comes to the sharpness and image quality rf 28-70 is much superior than rf 24-105 and based on that I would always buy this new lens over the older rf 24-105 unless canon comes with new sharper version of 24-105.
@@MosleydollMUA Hi, for R7, I’ll suggest new sigma RF lenses. They are cheaper and have great optics. 18-50f2.8 is my fav. You get approx same 28-70 full frame equivalent focal length
@@MosleydollMUA I have never come across anyone who had problems with sigma APSC lens line up, especially when it come to the built quality. Trust me, if that 18-50 was made by canon, it would have been at least £800.
@@danielwcheng6381 definitely, unless you need a longer focal range. It’s much sharper than older 24-105mm f4 lens and have brighter aperture. Thx for watching!
@@danielwcheng6381 I'm very curious how well a cropped image at 70mm f2.8 on this lens would compare to a full image at 105 mm on the F4L lens. From what I've seen in separate reviews, I think the crop may be very close in detail, especially on the R5. Could make this smaller, cheaper F2.8 STM lens a no brainer over the F4L if you can manage without 24mm...
@@pedroprietolopez330 I have no idea why are they saying that. I have shared the picture taken at 70mm with both 24-70 and new 28-70. To me they both look very sharp.

Do you think this would be a good match for my r7 ? I’m not concerned with the focal length not actually being 28-70

That was an excellent question ! I used to be very interested in F4 L versatile lenses but this new 28-70 is definitely a game changer
