    After installing the crown. On my first implant, my dentist told me to use a water pick every day if I wanted to keep my implant. The gums don"t adhere to the implant like to teeth, so you'll always have pockets that will need flushing out. Flossing alone will not suffice.

    I would advise anyone considering an implant to ask a million questions first, watch all the you tube videos you can on this, and read some reliable websites on this. Be very careful. I tend to jump into things too quickly and ask questions later, and this can be costly.

  • @stanmaster1205
    @stanmaster1205 Год назад +22

    Good explanation. Im spending so much on consultations at various places. Almost all Dentists and Periodontists treat people like customers not patients. It's all about $$$ for them now and somewhat false advertising to draw you into their clinic with $1000 implants. They never include abutment or crown fees. Then you got extraction and flipper (temporary denture). Also extra lab fees and extra unexpected dental fees. I have been roaming around a month looking for best option with a 2 gapper I just don't smile so much. In addition I could wear a mask to avoid having to pay a flipper fee. If I do get a flipper probably gonna play with it using my tongue and be upset I got it if I do choose.

    • @inkbold8511

      Don't get flipper waste of money and they break easily. Just hold a few months without tooth and wait for implant directly.

    Good video, thanks! Regarding bone suitability for implanting, is there a success rate or feasibility difference between a jaw implant or an upper tooth implant? My #4 tooth needs either an implant or a bridge. Apparently, bone grafting is required and my reservations are length of time (extraction to crown), followed by ultimate strength of final healing. A bridge is an option,but concerning in the event of either of those teeth needing future attention. Comments, please?

      I had a bridge...later lost a molar on the other side of my mouth due to failed root canal so I got a dental implant b/c everyone I knew who had them had no issues and my dentist pushed them..I had enough bone so no grafting was needed..I don't smoke, I'm not diabetic so I was a good candidate.......It went perfect, was textbook perfect according to my surgeon who is an excellent maxillofacial surgeon...it got infected...I was on antibiotics but got worse...was prescribed steroids...I was miserable......3 weeks later I had it removed b/c I was so miserable..I lost 3 weeks of my life --during that time all I did was lay around b/c I felt like I had the flu...fatigue, head pressure, similar to Dick Van Dyke's experience (his misery lasted 7 years),,,the day it was removed I felt 80% better by the time I walked to my car after the removal procedure...the head pressure I'd been feeling was gone....gradually my flu like symptoms and fatigue went away and I felt good again...... It took me 5 years to decide if I was going to try the implant again or get a bridge...I got a bridge and I'm so glad I did..I'd have to be desperate to get an implant after my experience..I spoke with the surgeon about the situation and he was very nice, refunded all of my money including what insurance paid him, which I did not expect b/c he performed a service and it was my choice to have it removed...he told me if I later had another implant the outcome might be better, but I couldn't bring myself to do it...hope this helps you come to a decision. I think what made me so sick was one of 2 things...allergy to titanium or too much pressure in my lower jaw bone...If you're not familiar with Dick Van Dyke's story as a last resort, having consulted with doctor after doctor and a lot of medical testing, he had all of his implants removed and almost instantly he had relief..Hope this helps you.

    I'm wondering what the asymptomatic problems with an implant might be. Osteomyelitis in the jaw maybe? Atrophy of the bone around the implant?

  • @Mehki227
    @Mehki227 6 месяцев назад +3

    My experience was pure hell of excruciating pain. Spent $6,000 and still don't have dental implant.
    Pulled the failed root canal. Packed with cadaver bone.
    Dentist couldn't get the angle right and kept taking the screw out and in, stripping the bone. Screw fell
    When the novacaine wore off at midnight the train of pain slammed into me, ran over me, and then backed up and continued to run over me for 3 solid weeks of crying with pain.
    I begged for pain meds. They make me nauseous. 3 weeks of antibiotics and pain meds I smelled like sulfur.
    I got a partial refund and bought a prothesis, which I don't wear because I can't chew with it.
    Now the other root canal failed and the redo too because infection won't clear.
    So off to an oral surgeon to just pull the damned thing and considering two bridges on both sides.
    So first root canal $1100, second on other molar $900, failed dental implant, $6,000. Prothesis $1,200, 2nd failed root canal $1,400
    Now I'm advised best to have oral surgeon pull the molar and then two bridges.
    How much out of pocket?
    The funny thing> & chew just fine with missing molar. I have both wisdom teeth.

    • @thatssjess9533
      @thatssjess9533 2 месяца назад

      Ive learned so much through research after having a failed root canal so ill give you my two cents.
      A bridge is a terrible idea because you have to shave down the surrounding teeth. Root canals are just dead teeth in our mouth that could adversely affect our health.
      You should only be allowing an oral surgeon to place an implant in your mouth. Also, there are specialists called prosthodontists who create the perfect crown for you. Too many dentists are doing work thats out of their league.
      Lastly, you can always just keep the missing tooth as is, especially if its in the back of your mouth. Bone loss can occur but if you want an implant years later, a bone graft can be performed. Vitd3,k2,and mg help with bone growth. Xylitol gum, oil pulling and alkaline mouth wash are tools that can keep cavities at bay.

    But by the time everything said and done a crown will cost you $3000 or more if you include the root canal in that equation. What I don’t understand is they literally Grainger to downtown with nothing so what’s the point of keeping the tears and not having the implant at the end of the day? I just had two crowns done the other day and they took so much for the tooth out that it was literally scary there was nothing left.

      Dental implants should be the last phase of treatment, so any cavities or gum disease should be treated prior to dental implant placement. If any of your other teeth need other treatment then I would prioritize those first. After disease control has been completed then the implant can be placed without any issues.

Right now I just didn't have that much money. So I started looking on RUclips. There was lady that didn't have money for denture. So she took one of those. Instant Smile Comfort Flex veneers. Ordered extra fitting beads. Turned into denture. So I went on Amazon and ordered. Top and bottom set. For $40 the only thing is you can't eat with it in. I haven't made my denture yet because they are still pulling my teeth. The only thing because you are 74. Google and see of there is any charities that do free dentures for seniors.
