They have separate offices but act as a team. NO insurance covered my work. CASH. But after a while I forgot they were in there and they feel like my original teeth. Thank you!

@@robertknight3542 I was there for a year. I would assistant the doctor with root canals and sometimes he would work on a tooth and the next week the tooth’s root would crack and once the root is cracked that’s it no saving it. If people have implants and they fail there has to be a back story behind it.. do they have bone loss? Are they smokers? Is the Dr doing the implant experienced..
Good Lord! I've never heard a dentist who can, and is willing to, explain the pros, cons, and processes of dentistry like this guy. If only all medical professionals were like this.
Dentists are the only people in the medical field that I still trust. Oh, and vets too. Dentists didn't go into it with fantasies of some TV series. They are actually fascinated by teeth and dentistry and the scientific advances. They spend time with you. Even if you are just there for a checkup. My dentist will give a running commentary of what he sees and advise and explain fascinating things about teeth and how they work, and even, if I ask, explain his latest tools. Compare this to GPs, staring at a computer screen for ten minutes and pushing their patients out the door with a prescription for antibiotics or a painkiller.
@@annatanneberger1 depends on individual. There are terrible dentists and great dentists - and likewise with doctors. It is clear you haven't been to a dr in a long time because they now very very rarely prescribe either antibiotics or painkillers. This is due to contributing to mrsa and other antibiotic resistant strains, they most common colds are viral, that antibiotics wipe out gut microbiome, that opiate painkillers are carefully tracked controlled substances, that those painkillers are often diverted and abused (and risks of dependency long term), etc. Lastly there are alternatives that are just as and likely more effective. So with these guidelines that have been in place last maybe 8 years or so you just don't see it like you used to at all. Prescribing as a whole is way down and many doctors are promoting healthy lifestyles.
@@SoulDelSol What you are describing is very hopeful, but describing the barn door after the horse had bolted. Last 8 years? In the mid-eighties I was working for a medical journal and subbing the last two pages, in 8pt, 3-cols of all the NEW antibiotic resistant strains detected at hospitals. I'm 68. My mother was a nurse (war generation) my father was a mining engineer (with highest paramedic qualification). As children we were not pampered. It would never occur to me to go to a doctor, even now - I grew up with the doctor doing home visits. If you are well enough to get up, you're not sick enough for the doctor's attention. Doctor was a pillar of the community. Now it is some insecure person sitting behind a computer and prescribing whatever drugs the medical rep had recommended, to people who would have gotten better all by themselves anyway. If it is anything more complicated than that, she'll refer the patient to a specialist.
Oral surgeons and dentists rarely take insurance, so their offices operate in a WHOLLY different manner. They are not forced to meet metrics and can take as much time as necessary per patient. Their practices do not dpend on patient volume to earn income as with other primary care physicians.
@@annatanneberger1 metrics must be met that patients have NO IDEA about. That's why it seems your doctor visits are an aferthought; s/he has 20 more patients to see in any given day. Dental professionals never have this type of patient volume constraints

Now with having a low immune system it’s a risk. I’ll never be able to eat normal food or live a normal life. I hate looking in the mirror. It’s a mental toll this takes. It’s been 10 years.
Hi Jen! I had same problem and I’m right now in Turkey and doing full mouth implants for 3 times less than in back home in USA. It is a process but so far I feel good and no matter what this guy talk about, he will never understand how we feel or felt. Everyone have different view and opinion. You can’t just stop doing things that you like or want, just because someone doesn’t. No offense to this guy, but how much does he care about you or me, or how much does he know about us! I spent hundreds of hours watching videos and talks about implants and I’ll tell you, go and follow and stick to your plan . No one is in same basket. Feel free to ask or contact me, cause I have my own experience which doesn’t mean you will have same, but I can share.

The Bill at the end from getting my tooth pulled to dentures to implant going to cost $9k AU and its been a long process had to wait 2 months for a appointment to see the dentist who does the implant for x rays then another 2 more months until he was able to put the implant in another 2 more months for my gum to grow around the implant.... If we were not in the middle of a pandemic I would of went straight to Thailand..
I got lucky and found a teaching dentist. Got full upper and lower implants. Process sucks...took about 6 months or so for extractions, healing, upper implant, healing, lower implant healing Cost me $20k...that is about half normal cost. Including 3 sedations bone grafts and 2 temp set of dentures .
Of course your own teeth are better than implants. What he fails to mention, what do you do when your teeth need to be removed as a result of decay etc. obviously you need to replace them with either implants or dentures. I would have preferred if he talked in length about options of replacing your own teeth.
I am shocked that any person would want to get rid of good teeth. The cost is extremely high and it's painful. What doctor would replace good teeth with dental implants?
Well no shit Sherlock! I just had complete upper and lower implants because genetically weak teeth (runs in family). Getting full implants is nowhere as good as natural teeth..but sure as hell beats dentures. In 6 months I will be able to enjoy hard foods again. I have not eaten an apple in over a year. Cannot wait...but in mean time. I have a smile again, and most people have no idea.
What amazes me is that we have astronomical breakthroughs on science and medicine but yet this treatment is still so very basic and simple it hasn't even improved any maybe it has for famous people but as for the average person I guess we get the bad end of the deal no matter how much we pay
How can you say it hasn't improved? Implant companies come out with new technology every single year and it is by far the fastest advancing area of dentistry. Most surgeries are now guided, coatings and surface roughening is done with more advanced techniques, techniques to use shorter implants and implants of different shapes exist--look up some early implants, they were extremely long and in some instances were more like a flat plate that got inserted along the long part of the jaw bone or would pierce all the way through to the other side.

Been through an implant and never do it again! Had it for 5 years was starting to fail. Had it removed before infection started. Lost some bone and gum recession. I do take care of my teeth and mouth. Luck of the draw. The pain after taking it out has been traumatic to say the least. It was in the lower left side 2nd molar area. The gums are taking a long time to heal. I’m almost 5 weeks out since extraction. Not fun!! Not worth the agony. According to my dentist the pain is nerve regeneration of the gums. Never again!!
i have had three titanium implants done at once and had the worst side effects almost immediately. I then tested for titanium ( after they were removed) and had an autoimmune and neurological sensitivity that could possibly turn fatal. I subsequently developed several auto-immune diseases although I did have hashimotos at the time. My specialist advised me never to touch anything with titanium, not even make-up. I now have 7 ceramic implants and I am super happy and healthy

Thank you for being so honest!!! I've lost a few teeth and had lots of issues, lots of dentists just keep telling me to get implants but I have an immunodeficiency and am prone to infections anywhere in the body. Every extraction has even resulted in infection. I know i'm not a good candidate. One honest dentist recently said to me - I completely understand, i'll let you into a secret, i'd never have implants and for you drilling into the bone seems a bad idea. I appreciate the honesty so much and not just sell sell sell.
Drilling into the bone would obviously be a bad idea for you. For me, not so. I have not even caught covid yet. I have 5 implants. I also have natural teeth so no problem not knowing how hard I am biting something. However, I did not lose my natural teeth due to gum disease, but due to trauma.

I had a root canal that failed 😳 then I had the tooth removed and opted for implant - it’s the best thing I did - infact I wish I’d done that first instead of trying root canal . I did have a bone graft and the implant looks totally natural
I had root canal treatment for a tooth at 16. It lasted until I was 36, when the tooth snapped in half and I had to have a porcelain crown. That lasted until I was 58 when it snapped off and I had the tooth extracted. A few months later and I had an implant. I am now 62 and the tooth looks just like the original when I was 16. Moral of the story: Root canal treatment does work, but longer for some than for others. The root canal treatment is much cheaper than an implant.
Hmmm, lost a tooth after a two-year-old root canal failed-and I thought THAT was ridiculously expensive. But, a single tooth implant is going to cost EVEN MORE???? Fantastic video; thanks. I have 2 front-tooth implants from a bicycle accident in 1995. My natural teeth had cracks and lasted until about 2008. Recently (2022) one of my front teeth came loose and it was extremely difficult to remove (it was loose in the well, the bone/well joinery was just fine, with little to no bone loss). I had to go to a special dentist because my implant was german and very few dentists in San Jose had experience with the implant which was installed in San Diego. On top of that, we had to get a manufacturer specialist to come from 75 miles away to help remove the loose implant. I was very lucky and got it out with his 1st removal method. I shudder to think about the 2nd or 3rd removal methods. Just something to think about. Implants don't last forever, either. Nobody ever told me about WHY I needed to take extra-special care of my implants (because they put my gums at greater risk of gum disease). THANK YOU !!
I need possibly the 2 front teeth replaced and I'm am absolutely terrified, I'm 33 havent seen a dentist in 12 years because I took care of my teeth. Thanks for the video. It's helpful for those who know nothing about implants. The FDA has a website warning consumers of implant risks. I got one front tooth implant and know it's mostly for vanity and secondarily for functionality. One should not think it is as good as the real healthy natural tooth.
Going through something similar now. Had failed front root canal on front tooth. Had emergency extraction yesterday, no bone graft. Have a couple more problem front teeth. Dentist stating removal of remaining problem teeth and bridge is best option.
my dentist offered me a bride for my missing tooth that can't have an implant due to bone loss due to an infection. they wanted to sacrifice 2 teeth beside the missing tooth and to root canal it to hold the bridge, i refused.
I had bridge for 15 years with no problems. I used water pick to clean the bridge because food would get caught. The real teeth were the problem. My dentist had hard time removing the bridge. When had my teeth removed. For dentures.
If your infection spread to bone. You have too make sure the infection. Is gone by taking antibiotics. I had infection that went into the bone. It destroyed neighboring healthy teeth. Along with damage to bone that was removed. These things are nothing to mess around with.
In our clinic it happened that a patient is allergic to titanium, where she complained of having discomfort and inflammation around the implant area… Doctor checked and immediately removed it for her.

Very true. I lost two lower molars (the second one on each side). I got an implant on one side but have no plans to get the other side done, because like you said, they don't feel the same as real teeth. It feels like a foreign object in my jaw. I totally agree that your natural teeth are best, however, if faced with the loss of a tooth (erosion) I opted for a implant over having a bridge that comprises the teeth on each side the lost tooth. My implants has not given me any trouble for the decade or so that I have had them!
Hi Dr Sehmi! I live in California. Thank you for this video - very good info. I don't know what to do. I have multiple missing teeth. I have a broken implant. I have a broken crown. All the rest are crooked and loose -- the tops more than the bottoms. I am 58 and I've been fighting periodontal disease for 30 years -- but gave up for the last 10 giving my teeth good personal care, but no dentistry. My experience with dentists all around have been disastrous (been ripped off too many times to count). My last experience was a periodontist who basically just took as much money from me as possible for 2 years -- and ripped my gums back. Last year I had something called TIA (light stroke) which they never figured out why because I am otherwise in very good health. I believe the cause was my mouth. My issue is if I see a dentist, periodontist, or implant specialist -- they will only recommend whatever treatment makes the most money. I am embarrassed by my mouth -- and just as you said, I've been interested in having someone just rip everything out and do full implants -- I would look so much nicer and I thought (until this video) that it would cure the periodontal disease. Any advise or guidance for the direction I should take with all of this?
If you have chronic, active periodontal disease there is a good chance that implants may not be the best option for you. Implants are not maintenance free. If you gave up on your natural teeth, most likely you will not be motivated enough to do the daily maintenance on implants. You have to be extra diligent with your daily hygiene, have routine dental visits about every 3 months, continue to have dental X-rays, be a non smoker and reasonably healthy. If your not committed, they will fail. Should you decide to proceed, it’s a good idea to do the procedure jointly with both a periodontist and a prosthodontist.
I agree that it can be next to impossible to find a dentist who won’t recommend the most expensive treatment, whether or not it’s right for the patient. I hope your situation improves soon. Best wishes.
59 yrs, no periodontal disease/ gums are in good shape but I have my share of other dental problems; most urgent is a broken pre-molar at gum line- needs replacing ASAP- Was told a bridge will just lead to decay in the neighboring teeth, but the idea of an implant is freakin me out! Stuck in analysis paralysis, meanwhile clock ticking toward infection, abscess😱 I’m that guy who, if there’s the 2% chance something bad will happen, I’m always the 2%…what to do?

Thank you so much for your honesty and clarity. I have always thought implants are probably a lot more trouble than they are worth, I have so many friends who have had bad experiences with them... Great info. Thank you. And. As far as the sensitivity that some people have to titanium, my theory is that for some people any metal in the body is like sticking a fork into a circuit board. The titanium becomes interference on the meridian grid. I have had a history of heavy metal toxicity and have spent thousands of dollars getting all my amalgam fillings removed by a biological dentist and replaced with ceramic. I am currently in the process of researching getting two implants and have decided I will definitely be going with the ceramic / zirconium post. I also plan to utilize a dentist that OZONE therapy to help clear the infection not only from the socket but my understanding is that the OZONE gas helps clean the jaw bone too.
Even with zirconia implant, zirconia abutment and zirconia crown, they still need to use titanium screw to screw your crown to the abutment. How about bridge?
@@shawnagilmore728 i just asked my holistic dentist and she said that she does not need to use titanium screw. You probably are making a wise decision. I am soon to have to get Dentures or implants. So I started researching Implants. There are millions of people that have had their lives completely changed but in a terrible way. Metal Allergies and some of the post have burs and many people have had constant infections that have destroyed the gums and bones. Many can not even work because of the constant infections and terrible pain. So do your research and ask bold questions about the problems. I believe I will go with Dentures for the money and at least once they are settled in your mouth pain is over with. I know now that they can have post installed that anchor in Dentures. I don't know how many posts they have to put in. I am going to wait and see how the Dentures fit before making that decision. I wish you the best because I know that it won't be easy no matter which way you go. God bless you!
I have 1 n my upper back & have no problem. I don't eat hard foods. If ur eating bones & stuff like that, u should b fine. Reality is, if ur missing a tooth, ur teeth can start shifting & a partial can b damaging long-term. Reality is, certain circumstances will not allow 4 the saving of our natural teeth. I had an old filling from the 80s that was deep & near the nerve. The nerve split & the tooth couldn't b saved. There is no way I walking around without a tooth, even if it's n the back. I smile & laugh too much. If u floss & brush often, u should b fine. My oral surgeon is awesome. Nothing is ever better than the real thing.
Nobody in Sweden talks about this! I am close to make the mistake of my life to get one ceramic implant in the upper molar. Sinus lift and bone aumentation done. I don't want more of that.. I think I could cope with a prosthesis/"Flipper" tooth? The dentists, almost all are forcing me, claim that the face will fall down. Is the implant screw really a guarantee, maybe it will happen anyway? With lots of extreme infections on top of everything else too? Prothesis does not cause peri-implantitis! and I know how hard I chew with it, should prevent the movement of nearby teeth as well? Thanks for invaluable information, reliable very soothing voice too =)
There is a video going about how the ADF has been under reporting failed implants. I'm in the UK and every dentist almost in the UK push cosmetic procedures. I am just about to cancel mine. With upper teeth interfering with sinus is a real risk too.
What is bone aumentation? I had bad upper molar infection that lingered, Covid hit, delays ect, I have bone loss, that I can see my cheek a bit deflated. Can one naturally build back bone??
The problem is tha every article is written by dentist which is hugely biased. Can not find one article confirming "face distortion, moving teeth or bone loss" that is not written by a dentist who wants your money. My mom had all her teeth removed for dentures and I can assure you - her face is still there at 80 years. I think you sign up for more procedures and costs as issues crop up down the line. Income for dentists!
I am in the same situation. Which molar? My mouth feels funny with tooth #15 missing. A constant discomfort; so I am weighing my options and going to see a few holistic dentists. What did you decide to do?
Typically an implant isn't for cosmetic purposes, it's usually because the tooth is already untenable and the alternative is extraction without replacement.
Thank you for the truth and a clear explanation, anyone can understand the pros and cons, therefore whom ever want to do an implant knows exactly what can happen. What about flippers.
I have had a few implants with no problems. I just had two extractions and am planning to have them restored with implants but had no idea about all of the issues you so clearly raised. So much to think about! My implants are surrounded by natural teeth so I guess I can hope that the natural ones will help communicate bite pressure so I don't do undue harm to the implants. Happy about that thought. But the other four points you make are worth giving thought to. Thanks.
You explain everything so well. Wish me luck on my dental implant surgery plus the 18 extractions they have to remove before hand. You said something about a bite and how if you have the all on 4 top and bottom, and bite down real hard, you might break a bone where the implant is. Have you ever seen anyone have a grand mal seizure? I bite down very very hard. Do you still think dental implants are right for me? Your response would make me so very Grateful! Sincerely, Debbie Feighner.
Endodontists can save teeth that were routinely condemned even a few years ago. If you think a tooth is a goner, do to an Endodontist. If they say it’s a goner, then it is. Even many cracked teeth can be saved depending on the location and depth.. this was a really great video!
I have an impacted Canine Tooth and they told me it might be fused to the bone so they suggested an implant instead. I'm nervous that it won't work out now. lol 😵
I just love watching all your videos. Because the people that put mine in are 3 hours away, one way, I try to have a short list of questions or concerns I can talk to them about. But if I forget one, I can usually find a video you’ve made that actually helps me more than if they would have answered it themselves. I’m embarrassed to say that communication is there low point medically speaking. I’m going into my 5th week post-op, I still have about 25 stitches that have not dissolved and my lower lip is totally numb. I had the All on 4 done and I am 65 with a history of epilepsy (48) years and a history of R/A and heart disease. They said my bones were too soft when they went in for surgery to wear any type of temporary dentures. Now they want to hook up the dentures they made me to my implants and wear them for at least 4 weeks. But not till March of 2022. Question: Is this something you would do in a case like mine of what you know about it? I’ve never smoked, I’m 5’1” and weigh 152.4. I’ve lost 15 lbs in 3 months and have another 25 lbs yet to loose to be at a good weight. Thank you for All your videos and Kindness. Mrs. Debbie Feighner/Fort Wayne, Indiana USA.
Thank you so much for your honesty and integrity, it is greatly appreciated. Many years back my dentist recommended veneers and they looked great for couple of years, than tooth sensitivity started and veneers started chipping so we went to six root canals and divided ‘permanent’ bridge. Total cost over $25,000. But now the bridge is loosening and tooth decay and pain underneath. Most people have no idea what they’re in for with these procedures and it is almost impossible to find a good honest dentist who will just fill a cavity. Knowing what I now know about implants will have to rethink and look for other alternatives. Thank you again and many blessings
So sorry for you. That's a lot of pain to your bank account as well as your jaw. My second implant failed twice. Hurt like he'll when they installed it twice and removed it twice.
Your teeth started chipping so you went directly to root canals? Why are your bridging teeth together when your not missing any? That makes hygiene far more of a challenge. Flossing is an entire extra step. If your getting decay under a bridge it’s most likely because your home care has not been effective enough. Are you using a prescription strength fluoride toothpaste that is provided by your dentist? (Not an over the counter one). Why is there pain under your bridge if you’ve had root canals? Those teeth are nonvital and you should feel no pain. Sounds like you need to take some responsibility for your own dental health problems. I’d find a new dentist also.
@@susanmetz9892 Let me teach you a few things about life and dental care. Most people are unaware that too low levels of Vitamin D3 will wreck havic with your gums and teeth no matter how well you floss and brush your teeth. As we age we loose bone density in our facial bones. This loss causes the gums around your teeth and bridges to recede which lets bacteria in. I found that a waterpik helped me immensely in keeping my gums free of debris. I too was having pain around my bridge until I started using the waterpik. All of this I found out at age 68 and only after a dentist totally ruined my teeth. I am afraid to do any work anymore. Not to mention that I have no money. My research has found that the only way to really get your teeth clean is with a laser device and they are not used by many hygienists. You sounded pretty judgmental in your remark. Just my opinion.
@@bluewaters3100 Even something like mouth breathing at night when you aren’t even aware you are doing it in your sleep can wreck havoc on your teeth due to having a dry mouth all night.
As a professional doctor of dentistry. Do you recommend implants if patient has had dentures for 20yrs + and is 60 yrs old ? I appreciate your honest answer
Thanks for answering so many questions. I'm just wondering what happens if your body rejects the metal, and it gets infected somehow. Do they have to pull everything out, and just get plain dentures?
My first implant lower jaw was good no problem. My second upperjaw failed twice. Had to be removed twice (Very painful) before the crown was installed. Dentist uses a special wrench to test how strong the bond to the bone is. If the bond breaks (you will feel it) when he tests it. He has to remove it. De
Thanks. 😁 Dr. Gurs: as an attorney I concur with your opinion 👍 1000% peri-implantatis never knew existed, here in Miami, FL, some dentist has recommended to implant my self though, in Nova University Dental Clinic, a top, best in South, FL a Director saw me. He pretty much concurs with you too. He told me to clean with a dentist constantly to preserve my own. Thank you always for sharing your professional opinion here. 😁
Thank you for this video. I feel so defeated and I can’t stand the thought that I’m losing all my teeth just because of medication. I never had a cavity until I had to take medication. Worse is that pain meds of ALL kinds do nothing work of me. Now I will get back to crying.
If pain meds do not work then you have not been given the right kind or high enough. Cold paks work to keep inflammation down along with the meds. Cheer up!!

@@bluewaters3100 I don’t get a “high” off of ANY pain meds. Please don’t assume something and not ask first. I have tried every type of pain meds and none work. It doesn’t matter how high the dose is, if it’s an opiate it won’t work. Guess what…all pain meds are based on opiates. Absolutely nothing from any pain meds work. I have only taken ONE Vicodin and I was high for 3 full days when I had four wisdom teeth pulled at one time when I was 27 years old. Then when’s I was 40 I had an emergency surgery and that’s when the doctors found out pain meds don’t work on me. They tried everything and when I was coming out of anesthesia I was in excruciating pain and nothing they could do helped. The recovery was a painful 4 weeks. My doctor and the head surgeon came and asked me if I used drugs etc. and I don’t and never did. They told me what it was called but I didn’t hear them due to the pain I was in. Apparently some people get this kind of tolerance to pain meds for no apparent reason and lucky me, I’m one of them.😢

I have two implants on bottom right rearmost teeth and it’s been a nightmare as oral surgeon who did them chose screws that were slightly too wide in diameter and it caused my jawbone in that area to shrink and gums to recede and has caused serious lifelong trouble - I’ve had two grafts where they removed part of roof of my mouth and grafted it over area where gums receded and for last few years it’s been holding, barely. And don’t ever wait to get dental care if have a problem as only going to get worse, ask for nitrous if afraid to go
Thank you for this video! Point #1 was a really good one. I am a Registered dental hygienist with 7 implants. A month ago one of them actually broke in half in my bone! After having it removed and getting bone grafting in the site, the implant right beside the one I had just lost broke as well! I have a strong bite, I am a heavy grinder/ clencher and I eat a vegetarian raw food diet with mostly hard fruits, veggies, nuts which caused bone around my implants to break leading to my implant failures. Unfortunately the prognosis for all my other 5 implants is also poor as I am seeing some bone loss due to the extreme forçe of my occlusion. I have no gum disease, no periodontal disease ( impeccable oral hygiene , no plaque, no tartar). But a diet and oral habits that are destroying my expensive implants!! Nothing can replace your natural teeth! That is true! Ps.. I have never seen a broken implant In the bone in my whole career! You are welcomed to message me if you would like to see this X-ray .. it would make an interesting video!
@Isabelle Gomez no dentist or dental professional will ever give you advice online. You need to book an appointment for a comprehensive clinical exam (which would include X-rays )perhaps with another dentist for a second opinion. Thank you so much for your education on implants. I've cancelled my appts several times because I've been nervous about the procedure. I have bone loss in my back teeth. Do you think it's worth it to have implants or leave it as is? Thank you.
Great video. I’ve always taken good care of my teeth and have three implants, the result of accidental trauma that made the teeth unable to be salvaged. I have a great dentist, who measured and affixed the new crowns, and a great dental surgeon, who did the extractions, and set the posts in bone glue. The healing process alone took nine weeks, before my artificial teeth could be permanently attached, so when I see these ads for “same day implants,” I know it’s a scam.
@@susanmetz9892 but how can you extract a tooth and completely anchor a post for the artificial tooth in the same day? There has to be complete healing and bone regeneration around the post.
Same day tooth is not a scam . They put the screw same day into your jaw when your bad tooth is extracted , but they place a temporary crown over the screw until.is completely heal and only after that the real.one and permanent one
Great information doctor my concern is that I've got 2 hip replacements and 1 knee replacement. With risk of infection from an implant which would lead to having the knee replacement removed for 6 months would you advise against it?
Dr your great but missing the number one point why implants will never be as good as real teeth is the blood flow around the real teeth allso works with the salivary glands to help us taste our foods.
Thank you so much for all this information, much appreciated. Could I please ask you about removing a Root Canal which I have but I’m thinking of having it removed as it’s not alive tooth and there is lots of info out there saying it could cause problems with you health?
Thanks for making such a a useful and informative video! In the US, these implants are pushed on everyone. I had one dentist (who is a family friend) tell me that you “never should remove teeth where there’s nothing wrong with them.” My issue is that I’m being told that I must get implants because they can’t do a bridge. I told my dentist today to “get creative “ then, because I don’t want to shell out $50,000. She said she would put together some options for me, so I go back one week from today to see these options. This is why I dread the dentist! It’s not the maintenance, it’s always a ridiculous charge.

Mini implants have a massive failure rate and they have stopped doing them here in Australia because of that. I don’t recommend you getting them. I was going to go for them myself until I found this out. Very sad news. Means we have to pay the full price for normal implants 😞
Thank you thank you thank you. I didn't know about proper care for my teeth growing up.I don't have pretty teeth anymore and I have been trying to save up money to do a whole set. That was a dream. You handled that video very well. Bravo 👏🤗😊🙂 I'll be back 😉
I’ve had 3 implants done in the past 6 yrs. So far no issues. Dentist said I had more than enough bone to attach the post to. Only 7cm required. I had around 11cm. Plus my dental insurance paid a good percentage of final bill.
More than enough bone? Infection and tooth breakage had to pull my upper molar. Dentist 'grafted' bone whatever this means in preparation for whatever I choose implant or bridge. Does this mean I have enough bone just where they can, 'graft' or add bone? What about how much bone loss I have from the infection?! Can one naturally build up bone?
@@janebraun4482 I had loads of bone loss. One dentist completely said no implants can be done, one dentist said yes but with a bone graft first. The third said yes extraction, bone graft and implants done in one day! I had issues I think more so from the rough extraction but I know I didn’t have much bone it was practically by my sinus cavity. I don’t know how he did it but one year later I’ve got my implants still going strong and fine.
@@taje017 mine was roughly 3800 out of pocket after delta dental paid 50% that was with 2 extractions, 2 bone grafts, 2 implants BUT I will say my journey was stressful due to the dentist I had. He quit so one I finished off at the place I initially went to and the other that I had issues with I was sort of forced to find and follow him but when I went to finish the implant with him his new office was trying to charge 1380 for something that costed me 600 at the other office. So I guess it varies by office cause it was the same implant system just a different office. I did tell him nvm I’d go back to the other place and he dropped it to 670. I overpaid 70 but I just wanted to be done with it. Overall I paid about 3800
I've got a ton of implants installed and I know having natural teeth is better. o far the only trouble I've had with implants and crowns is having the tooth dissolve. I've got two, maybe three crowns that have disappeared over time and I think they dissolved. Other than that, no problems with implants and some of mine are coming up on 15 years ago.
I had 2 root canals recently and they went really well. Minimal discomfort and pain. One was a huge molar too (#30) and I am so happy i opted to save my teeth instead of losing them. I hope i dont ever have to get implants but I imagine by then implants will have come even further.
Does a root canal hurt? I have always seen claims that they do but a dentist told me that they don't. It's rather odd. Especially since they'd have anaesthetic.
@@jimmydesouza4375 No, I recommend going to a specialist for one as it was the best experience. The slight discomfort was absolutely nothing. Especially compared to the agony the tooth was causing me. Also dental tech has evolved so quickly over just the last decade. I think it’s just gotten much better than it used to be which is why people think it is painful. Edit: I think I used the wrong term for the doctor so I’m just gonna put specialist 😂
I had a root canal a day before I was leaving on a long overseas trip. I had zero problems eating anything I wanted. Obviously I took care eating on that side as it had a temporary filling. When I returned I had a crown put in and that was over three years ago. Over the past couple of years I was having dental pain that felt like it was where the root canal was done which was tooth thirty one. I had sensitivity to cold water when I rinsed mouth. It got so bad my dentist sent me back to the endodontist. It turned out I had an issue with tooth thirty. It had a slight crack in it and decay. I had a partial root canal done where the endodontist put medication in each of my canals with a return visit scheduled a month later. This didn't work. I had intense pain. Was prescribed 800 mg Ibuprofren and an antibiotic to see if it would calm down the nerves. That also didn't work. Went to an oral surgeon to have the tooth pulled yesterday. I already have amazing relief as the area recovers. Now I have a decision to make whether to get an implant or a bridge or just do nothing. I really wished I could have saved that tooth. I can say this having root canals are pain free. Having a tooth pulled is also until the anesthetic wears off.
Yes stem cell research has advanced to the point that now a drug will be available in 7 years for commercial use so you can regrow your teeth.isn't that wonderful? I wouldn't bother with implants !!
i got 2 implants and it's been good so far. Flossing does require more work and it doesn't covered by dental insurance but it's better than having a dental bridge which you have to grind down two good adjacent teeth to put the bridge in.
I had #18 removed due to an infection and had them do a bone graft at the time thinking I'd want an implant. Several months have past and I'm reconsidering this. It's not really visible (being all the way at the back) and so far it's not bothering me missing that tooth, but I'm still considering the implant. It's obviously cheaper to not do it, but what are your thoughts?
Best explanation about implants and everything about teeth. More human than a business person. I had bad experience for implants in Istanbul dentist clinic that we agreed to have two bridges on my teeth and all crowns for £3000 including 8 days of hotel. But when I arrived next day after X-ray , the dentist told me that my upper teeth had weakened bones so need to extract them and replace 6 in one implants and it cost £6000 , without more explanation he removed all my upper teeth. I never had any problems with my teeth before, I had one week of pain stress no enough explanation. I paid half of the money but I lost trust of the dentist, I can’t chew with my denture and have go back in April to have my implants. Thankfully with Dr Gurs I have some ideas.😊
Thank you for your insights on the cons of implants. My dentist has indicated to me that i have an upper left molar that needs to come out and he is suggesting an implant in its place. I know that i am prone to periodontal disease and i am really reticent about getting an implant there (as opposed to a bridge) but no one ever tells you about peri-implantitis and subsequent issues. If there is a PI issue, is the only remedy to extract the implant? And if so, then what am i left with as options to replace the tooth? Thank you.
An implant is the best option. Bridges mean two other teeth need to be ground down and bridges don't last forever. They need to be replaced and the supporting teeth can also become infected or decayed under or on the margins of the crowns. And of course, they are a PITA to clean under the pontic.
I agree about the bridge. I have a 5-tooth bridge on upper right. The molar had a crown for years. The 3 teeth going forward a had to be pulled after root canals failed. The tooth in the front had a root canal and became the anchor for the bridge. I had problems with it so much that my dentist put a lighter weight bridge on it. So far I spent about 8K. Now the front anchor tooth has fractured. Now I must have my bridge cut apart and the anchor tooth pulled. My bridge hanging off the molar will do me no good. And the tooth in front of the anchor tooth is no good either. So I am looking at several thousands of dollars more. More than likely the molar will have to be pulled . That will leave no teeth on the upper right after the front tooth. They are suggesting I get a partial. I would not be able to eat with it. But my dentist feels that it is more important that I have a root canal on a different front tooth just in case I break it!! I don't even know where to begin to put all the money I don't have!! Implants that may fail, or dentures that may not ever be correct. Hum, let me think about that !!!
@@maryganun1204 I'm sorry this is happening to you. Perhaps have a second opinion consult? They are typically free and bring any Xrays you may have with you to the consult. At least they may offer several options. Ask friends for someone they trust.
I had #46 extracted due to infection. Because of the extent of bone loss around the root, it was necessary to do a bone graft which was done immediately after extraction. My question is, for somebody who grinds his teeth at night, is an implant riskier than if i were to just opt for a bridge? That is, if my future implant was infected, would it cause me more problems than if i just opted for a bridge for the #46 in the first place?
There is no #46. Not unless you are counting the 20 baby teeth, and then the 32 adult teeth. The teeth have set numbers so that dentists can easily describe which tooth they need to work on. Baby teeth are irrelevant for adults, so they are not counted.
I've been to 3 separate dental practices. First one told me they have to remove all my upper teeth and I'd be stuck with a mobile denture for the rest of my life, and on the lower arch only 4 teeth are ok and can be saved. Second one didn't even bothered, they are specialized in implants and they said all my teeth have to be removed, 6 implants on each arch and fixed dentures. All in like 30 seconds in which they slammed the price (18.000 euro), because that's all they cared about. The third one was a charm. They are struggling to save every tooth that can be saved, already had 6 root canals done and I'm up for the next 2. I will have implants because it's a must, but I will also keep some of my teeth, which I didn't think it was possible.
I have 6 implants. They are on the lower arch and are due to failed root canals. I have NO problems with them. Some are 15 years old. I have a good dentist and oral surgeon. They have separate offices but act as a team. NO insurance covered my work. CASH. But after a while I forgot they were in there and they feel like my original teeth. Thank you!

I can feel your pain I have a dentures and its depressing I cant stand it.. I cant help but to look at everyone else teeth when I talk to then and it depresses me even more..
@@azureavocado5195 Yes they are just way overpriced I am going thru a implant atm I just think every step is calculated to get the most money possible out of you..

My thoughts, exactly, after reading the title of the video.

THANK YOU !!

my dentist offered me a bride for my missing tooth that can't have an implant due to bone loss due to an infection. they wanted to sacrifice 2 teeth beside the missing tooth and to root canal it to hold the bridge, i refused.

It usually has a low grade inflammation in the jaw and/or gum. For instance, as I write this I can feel it throbbing slightly. This is a common occurrence in the evenings.
Do you floss?

Great info. Thank you. And. As far as the sensitivity that some people have to titanium, my theory is that for some people any metal in the body is like sticking a fork into a circuit board. The titanium becomes interference on the meridian grid. I am currently in the process of researching getting two implants and have decided I will definitely be going with the ceramic / zirconium post. I also plan to utilize a dentist that OZONE therapy to help clear the infection not only from the socket but my understanding is that the OZONE gas helps clean the jaw bone too.

At the.very least go on a payment plan with them and stop paying them when things don't work out

Thank you, Dr. Sehmi, for giving the people the truth, and the pictures do help. Also, I will not get the dental implant in a few weeks; I will go with something else. Once again, THANK YOU for sharing your video.
How about bridge?
I've been contemplating having an implant but I'm not so sure now. Great video. Very informative and educational.
I wonder about flippers/partials too
Excellent explanation!! From one dentist to another. Very well done Doc.
I heard that implant has 85 - 90% of natural teeth "bite capacity ".. could this be true?
How's things going with you right now?
18 extractions? How hs it been going?
Endodontists can save teeth that were routinely condemned even a few years ago. If you think a tooth is a goner, do to an Endodontist. If they say it’s a goner, then it is. Even many cracked teeth can be saved depending on the location and depth.. this was a really great video!
You are correct Brian.
Lol that shit about the crack heads got me cracking up bro.
The dentists need to make that $25K to pay for his big house mortgage and BMW cars. LOL
All I know is my body pushed out all my stainless steal posts and I had to take out my IUD because of immense bleeding. I cannot have any metal.
My first implant lower jaw was good no problem.
My second upperjaw failed twice. Had to be removed twice (Very painful) before the crown was installed.

Thank u for giving us the downside of dental implants and ESPECIALLY about implants from abroad.

I couldn’t agree with you more.

You need to book an appointment for a comprehensive clinical exam (which would include X-rays )perhaps with another dentist for a second opinion. No matter what I've always took care of my teeth but they are rotting and don't know what to do since implants are no good
Great video.
Same day implants are not a scam. It can be done safely in certain situations. Not every person is a candidate though.

I appreciate this. I lost my front tooth and need an implant, but definitely want to know the truth

Thank you.
Crown bridge or dentures
Get a ceramic implant
Thank you fir the elaborate explanation on the pros and cons of implant. A person of great patience. God bless you doctor.
That's all very nice, but what's the alternative when you have to extract your natural tooth?
A bridge.

I had a Maryland bridge for 20 years (till the one it was attached to fell out through bone loss). Cements to rear of adjacent tooth.
What are some alternatives to a dental implant where the tooth must be removed
I had #46 extracted due to infection. Because of the extent of bone loss around the root, it was necessary to do a bone graft which was done immediately after extraction. My question is, for somebody who grinds his teeth at night, is an implant riskier than if i were to just opt for a bridge? That is, if my future implant was infected, would it cause me more problems than if i just opted for a bridge for the #46 in the first place?
OMG 😳
I will have implants because it's a must, but I will also keep some of my teeth, which I didn't think it was possible.
how are you now?
