- Hello and welcome back to another episode of The Dive! This episode started off a little sour as Azael, Kobe, and Meteos each ate lemons (they all technically lost the bet). They discussed the ongoing VCS investigation, recapped the Spring Finals, and celebrated the Dive Awards!
Also, they had new awards to dish out this year, and some they didn’t have winners for - namely the “who was the best commissioner” award…
The Dive will be on break along with the LCS, but there will be some new episodes before MSI - so stay tuned for more!

Real talk, the VCS discussion was pleasantly grounded and honest. It was nice hearing some actual discussion on the matter, and giving some potential explainations for why its happening. I wouldntve expected that fromna riot-sanctioned podcast, so props

I'm actually really surprised that the flyquest news about losing their strategic coach before finals was not mentioned at all. I felt like it was definitely a factor in their games as their drafts were garbage, and they missed a ban, probably lost a lot of prep that was done. Though it doesn't excuse the bad play from the players.
I was today years old when I learned this, but it makes a lot of sense. Not to make excuses or minimize TL’s win at all.

I think what he is accused of makes it hard to bring it up and they probably were told not to draw more attention to it.

One thing I think would be fun next split is setting up a poll a couple of weeks before the end of the split to get some write in awards. Love the show!
I think while you're at MSI, having guests on would be fun, especially if those guests are from TL or FLY.
Also, definitely agree with Azael. Licorice for most deserving of an award.
Game of the split has to be the last regular season 100t vs C9 match. It was so swingy and fun and a lot of memorable moments like berserker penta and the base race at the end.
The Dive have been so good this year. (it's always been, but there is something special about those episodes).
I'm not explaining, but my award goes to Summit.

I think my play of the split was the 100T C9 game where the 100T held the remaining living players of C9 at Dragon, and it was a base race between JoJo and 100T. The awareness to 1, go for the base trade, and 2 deny the backs of C9's players was huge. That game was also my game of the split.
So glad to finally get a finals recap episode btw, and also, the chinese meme of ‘X Player’s father’ is fucking hilarious 😆
This year's trash talk and banter were top notch. I'm a FLY fan and I've enjoyed Bwipo's banter, but how can I not love the interviews with TL after the finale? Amazing content. LCS is pumping top content.
Wouldn’t be a great split without The Dive, everyone involved did such an amazing job! The RUclips shorts and intros with some of the greatest bits from each episode were awesome, not to mention how great a fit Meteos is to the podcast. Shout out to you guys for putting on such a great product again, and shout out to everyone behind the scenes who made it happen. Can’t wait for the MSI episodes and Summer split!

There is ACTUALLY NO WAY that APA didn't get trash talker of the year. It's the biggest snub I've ever witnessed! Even when APA hits Jensen with "Losing finals to APA" as he actually claps him in the grand finals". APA had so many bangers just for one Jensen tweet to steal the well deserved award.
APA's trash talk was way too forced and heavy handed. Also he wasn't really funny with it at all, more like some annoying guy in solo queue spamming

@midgevong41 idk I just feel like it was never actually clever at all. Like flame if you want but I think someone who puts effort into making it funny / clever deserves to be acknowledged more than someone who just had the highest volume of flame

Been watching the dive for a long time and its probably my favorite League content; this has been the best season yet. Azael, Kobe, and Meteos are legends. Loved watching Meteos in the jungle on C9, he's why I jungle, and now seeing him on the dive and killing it there too---love it. Azael and Kobe are awesome together as always. Both of them, (and Captain Flowers), rocked it casting the Finals. Best casters and their synergy is OP. Keep it up guys!
Huhi deservers an award! He's my favorite support, and when he went full tank Naut and got nearly unkillable I was laughing so hard every fight.

Bet Idea: Take a bite of a Pig Blood cube, Wear a "freeHugs" sign at next LCS event, Raw Garlic, become a yummi main for (x) amount of time
it is still wild to me that even after winning spring split and earning finals MVP, all the comments about APA are still from the perspective of him being a niche NA midlaner with a narrow champ pool. looking at him from the perspective of "ziggs, tristana, and a-sol all have much stronger off-laning than other midlaners, and allow TL to apply faster and effective pressure to side lanes. this pushing power, paired with the new neutral objective void grubs, which amplify this pressure, gives APA a more dynamic champion pool than other midlaners." APA's ability to play taliyah throughout the entirety of playoffs really dispelled the notion of him being a "ziggs or a-sol one trick" to me, and actually reinforced my opinion that NA midlaners and teams as a whole are inflexible in dealing with the accelerated macro pressure that he can apply. Unfortunately, i don't see eastern teams having issues with dealing with him, as eastern teams seem to have a much more unified direction and are quicker at punishing, then pivoting to maintain momentum. it will be exciting to see how TL does at MSI, i personally like the regional brash flavor that TL demonstrated during spring playoffs and hope they carry that to the international stage.
I watch the LCS so I can enjoy the Dive. Love you guys

Since I'm a C9 fan I've developed a "hate" for APA, but honestly I think that's great. Having a heel in a league can be such a boon for engagement and I'm praying for the day when Jojo can dumpster that fraud. A lot of my best sports memories are random games where we get to screw a rival team or player. Being more serious, kudos to him for sticking through the criticism from worlds. Seems like he kept his head down and grinded, then popped back up to talk shit. I can respect that. Still crossing my fingers for international mids to humble him
For bet ideas: LCS cast day in a bald cap dressed like Azael, or if it’s Azael he wears a wig and dresses like Kobe or Meteos

I would be totally fine with shorter 15 to 30 minute dive episodes during MSI to cover topics like player interviews etc. I think that would be really fun and hopefully be easier to accomplish in the short time. You guys have appreciate the content keep it up.

Award for best guest commentator/caster: Doublelift. He was one of the few ones who actually felt like he wanted to be doing commentary and adding to the broadcast.
I unironically like eating lemons lol. Would be the perfect bet for me. If you cut them into circles, you can put a notch in the circle and kinda unwind them to make them easier to eat, since they separate into little easy to eat triangles inside.
i have NEVER thought about the segments of a citrus turning into triangles when you unwind slices like that... you truly are a connoisseur of the craft

Game of the split, for me, was 100T vs TL is playoffs. Forget which game it was, but it was the game that was so incredibly bloody. There really should be an effect on the river when you get to 50 kills in a match.

Wondering why we aren't talking about the flyquest strategic coach controversy happening 2 days before the finals, and after flyquest looking horrible with their strategies in the match. Might be relevant to them getting smashed by TL in game and in draft.
I guess the subject matter around his removal is probably why. I can also see FlyQuest requesting it not to be mentioned.
I love meteos on these talk shows, i miss the one he used to host where he had random streamers and other pros a like from different games that was so cool wish it would come back
Divies Award idea: most creative draft
Personally I think (and hope) that C9 just needs time to gel as a team. All solid players, and the potential for them is huge. Jojo and Blaber in particular mesh really well on paper, just didn't happen for the team this split. I hope they don't do too much this off-season and focus on the potential of the team given time.

I've heard of match-fixing being a logistical problem of a different variety. We've had some people be blackmailed into match-fixing, and then being blackmailed into more match-fixing through the previous match-fixing.
It seems a lot to me like the purity of every player will always be questionable. If they're not winning, they need to make money somehow, and that's where these problems come from.
