So looking like a total boss on stage is just a side-effect? Silver linings I guess. Your stage presence at Eurovision is just the coolest thing I've ever seen. Never thought I'd see the day an Aussie metal band would crack ESC. It's almost as surreal for us as I'm sure it is for you, and we couldn't be more proud
As a migraine sufferer myself, I can imagine the hell you’ve been through to maintain your art, and I’m in awe of your will. Just incredible. As an Aussie metal head, I am truly embarrassed to admit I only just discovered you guys - especially as you’re from the same city as Karnivool 🤦🏻♂️ Needless to say, mistake rectified and you now have a new fan, and I’m spreading the word to my mates! Best of luck in the semi - and the final (I have faith) - if you guys win, it will prove there is yet hope for our dismal species! Show ‘em what real music is🤘🏻 Ps Please come to Tassie when you’re done conquering the world!!!
Simone you are fire ...an absolutely amazing guitarist...its great to hear you have a way of coping with your condition... thinking of not being able to see you preform live on stage..would have been a travesty
Hello Simone, thank you so much for telling your personal health story and recommendations, like wearing tinted high quality glasses. I'm a former music manager, photographer, have been suffering on chronic headaches since childhood. Back when I was on tour, there was no safe place to retreat during any pain attack. Strobe lights were an issue, additionally we had to cope with smoke of cigarettes for weeks, which was also a huge trigger for migraine. But guess what, I was one of the first in the business wearing tinted glasses not just as a fashion gag. The quality of the lenses is very important, so I'm with you on that, giving new products a shot. It's woth a try to minimize triggering factors, and I'm thankful you've found a good solution for yourself to keep on rocking and be there for your fans 🥰🤘 all the best - Susan from Germany P.S.: you look awesome with these glasses!
Oh wow it’s really moving to hear your story. I’m so happy you’ve found methods to help you find the way back to your Rock Star best! Can’t wait to see you rock it this week.
Nice to hear that you found a functional solution (help), chronic migraine is no joke. Best of wishes to You and Voyager in the Eurovision, you are by far the best of all contenders.
Simone, I feel for you. I'm so happy that you can still play music, and I'm so glad that you can continue your musical journey. I no longer can. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia and this has pretty much stopped me from singing and playing. I started playing in rock bands back in 1972 (I'm no spring chicken). In 2008, I was diagnosed with TN and it's like having electric shocks run through my face. I was able to continue for a few years after this, but as it became worse, I had to stop doing what I love. What makes me happy is watching and listening to people like yourself soldier on and create and play wonderful music. It keeps me pushing through! All the best to you and that bunch of rascals that you play with. You're fantastic!
So glad you found a way around the condition and can get on with your life, Simone. I am a newcomer to Voyager (thanks to Prog magazine), and over the last two or three weeks i have become almost obsessed with all things Voyager. Absolutely love the music and you all seem like truly decent guys with a great sense of humour, along with some phenomenal musical chops! So happy Simone, that you didn't have to quit the band and music. You guys rule! Best of luck in the Eurovision grand final, and i look forward to seeing you all in Manchester in October. Never stop rockin' 🤟😎🎸
Thankyou for sharing your story. My headache migraine problem comes through music and sound. Its not the music and sound itself, its movement through the senses and my ears were damaged in my 20s, I ended up getting undiagnosed sensory deafness. Music to me is a headache and causes me to cry beyond measure, also I can stop breathing. Mine comes from serving my nation in the millitary. Music to me sounds awful, but for me to listen short term, I process in silence and I can hear in silence, and in silence its amazing because I remember it, every part. It doesn't matter if its a masterpiece, to me its a huge headache among other things. I would like music to be healing more than uniting. My son has problems with light sensitivity and can't be outside for too long, I will ask him about the glasses. Thanks for sharing about the glasses. Music shouldn't have to hurt.
Hi Simone, I've suffered from migraines for most of my 60 years and was getting up to 5 a week. So glad the glasses have helped but wanting to let you know my life has changed since being perscribed Ajovy. I went thru a long process of trying this and that but nothing has helped until now. Ajovy targets a certain protein some sufferers have so won't help everyone but luckily for me I must carry that protein. I might have a mild attack once a month now if that and manageable. I also belong to a great Facebook support site. Wishing you all the best and enjoy Eurovision, cheers Meredith S.A. 😘
I can’t even imagine dealing with that on a daily basis 😢 fladly I only have the occasional migraine, but this is heavy. So happy for you that you manage to be on stage and do what you love ❤❤
Simone, I'm so glad you have finally found relief from those horrible migraines. Working with you in West Perth - those bright fluorescent lights must have been so hard for you to focus and get through each day. The Avolux glasses look super cool!! Best of luck to you and Alex in the Eurovision Grand Final - Voyager rocks!!!
it's very interesting to hear from people with photophobic migraine while living with an osmophobic one. if only there were glasses for the nose :D looking forward to see your performance very much!! good luck and stay well and healthy 😙
So sorry to hear about your having to deal with chronic migraine. I deal with it myself and have found the only thing that has worked for me so far is Botox administered by my neurologist. I’ve seen the glasses and I’m genuinely curious on how well they’d work on me, I’m very interested to try them now that I’ve heard you talking about your experience with them. Thank you for doing this video! Best of luck at the ESC btw :)
I'm probably no help, but I've suffered from migraines since I was a child. When I gave up wine, chocolate, sweets in general and cocoa, the problem disappeared! I can't believe such a simple thing, and I suffered for many years.
Voyager has been one of my fav bands for the last 10 years or so and I'm so glad that you didn't give up on music, because Voyager truly wouldn't be the same without you. Hope all goes well and I'm so glad you've been able to fight your way through all the struggles. GO YOU!
It's amazing how something like a pair of glasses can make such a huge difference to one's quality of life. I've had a mild form of photophobia since birth. I was always covering my eyes and even wore sunglasses since I was about 3. I was diagnosed by an optometrist when I was about 7 but still had no relief for years. I was the only kid at school wearing sunglasses. I'm 37 now and it has eased a bit since mid 2020. Depending of the type of light, colour temperature, intensity, etc it can be as little as making me drowzy to a burning or stabbing pain. I've had a few migraines and can only imagine what it would be like to live with them constantly. So glad you have found treatment. You all did so well at Eurovision. Loved it!
Stay strong ok I know how hard it is for you to go thru that pain you know always stay strong at all times just like me after my long recovery of my back pain injury in 2021 it took me about a year to recover you know but I fought thru it from therapy and music therapy as well love you guys stay strong 💪
So great that you've found a way to manage your migraines. You are such a great musician and performer. It's just fantastic to see you living your dream.
What is helping me (as a side effect) with my headache is my diet. Was on Keto for months, three years ago. Had a stupid relapse but now on track again with Carnivore. Will probably return to Keto once I hit my health targets like weight and energy. Both right ear tinnitus, headache and that damn carbohydrate-fog is but all gone. Best of luck to all of you, will be voting for you in the ESC!
Huge respect for ya! And quite glad the glasses helped you. I just discovered you guys today and you guys have already taken a place in my musical heart that I won't let go. Keep doing what ya love and make it happen! ❤
Simone this is a brilliant video. Thank you for sharing this with us - The Voyager channel should be just as much about the people and who they are than simply just the music they make, so this is a very, very welcome addition and I'm glad that you found an aid that was able to restore your quality of life again ❤
I had painful migraines as a kid, but then they disappeared for years. This year, however, I started getting ocular migraines, and have had about 14 of them in the last 13 months. The hangover is always awful, and I'm sensitive to light for the first time in my life. Maybe I should look into these glasses.
How are you simone. I suffered severe head trauma when i was younger and hence suffered severe migraines for years. I was sensative to light and sound. It was only when i started drinking freezing cold water did the migraines stop and continued to stop. Its the remedy that helped me, might not help everyone...
as someone with chronic pain and hyperfocus, it means the world that you’re sharing this, specially because Voyager’s music rhythm and beat has helped SO much with my hyperfocus in the past two months since I discovered y’all! It’s insane, you truly changed my life 🫶🏻
This woman comes from falkirk braillent barins girl from falkirk in a rocking band that is voygur sad she has has chronic migraines which is horrible to have then a normal sore head but she dose braillent for what she dose for the band xxx❤️🫂
