Hey guys! Thank you so much for watching. I know that Game Theory has their timeline in the works currently, which I don't necessarily agree with but it definitely raises some great points . There are some things I didn't include for clarity and time reasons, I added them to the description. And remember all of this is subject to interpretation, I did this as a fun challenge. So no being condescending or mean. poopyheads EDIT: DDLC VIDEO IS OUT!! Go watch fanks 😘 ANOTHA EDIT: seeing a lot of ppl confused about the trans gregory line, gregory isnt actually trans but there was a mistranslation in one of the Tales stories in the books leading to a conclusion that he was trans. Admittedly not that funny but a reference to a community moment. I respect trans people and myself use he/they pronouns (AMAB) and am considering using he/she/they. Apologies if this offended anyone.
Is there any possibility that Henry and Afton are the same person. Like, Orange Guy is sober Henry and Purple Guy is him when he's drunk or psychotic? I don't know all the details of the series very well but I keep sensing hints that the two owners are the same person. What do you think?
An absolutely hilarious and expertly made video that I didn’t have to rewind 100 times to figure out what the hell you were talking about. This was so well done, and a pleasure to watch.

33:00 you have no idea how much I appreciate someone finally mentioning that ITS NOT A SPRINGLOCK TRIGGER!!! it’s driven me crazy how everyone says the child’s tears triggered the springlocks when it’s already in animatronic mode. I feel so validated lmao
The crying child getting bitten because of a spring lock failure makes more sense because if you look at springtrap in the fnaf 3 trailer and in the minigame hes in the same position and specifically in the trailers he's thrusted forward and twitching even though its been years since he was stuck in it so he couldn't be still in pain enough to twitch so maybe when the spring locks are active like with real life when setting up robotics there is a default so maybe the mouth when wet sets off the spring locks making them go to a default position which is closed
30:39 it's worth pointing out that in the same game Nightmare Freddy has a line saying "I have been given flesh to be your tormentor", which would imply more heavily that the first Nightmare animatronics were created by the illusion disks or some other way to make Crying Child hallucinate and then they were made "real" in William Afton's personal hell
yea I do not think the Nightmare Animatronics are real, I think William is keeping crying child sedated in a coma ish state (medicine, hospital equipment to back it up) and I think that William is able to control the crying child into seeing something else, maybe a naked endo skeleton as the Nightmares, so SOMETHING is physically attacking yes, and meant to keep him scared but it William did not construct what we see as the nightmares in FNAF 4, imo
Yeah I'm pretty sure even in the later games' lore, fnaf 4 (not 1,2 and 3 though as in dream theory) takes place in a coma after the bite of '83, leading up to crying child's death
@@dedicatedbydaylight4470it should be noted that the medicine as evidance was from scott’s original dream theory ending from 4, so it dosent really hold up as evidence afterwards. great insight though
@@Mat_mep Depends on what you are talking about if your talking about the newer games after vr then you cant really blame him cuz this guy couldnt even touch the new games very much with how trash they showed and explained the lore
I really wish Scott would come out with a "real" guide that explains everything from start to finish. I know that all the fun is in theory crafting and feeling great that you solve pieces of lore through puzzles, but the story has been through too many retcons and reboots that it's hard for new people to get into the game. Why are we still focused on missing information from the first game when we're in an entirely different "era" of Fnaf decades later in Security Breach. I would rather he lets out *his* version of the timeline so that everything is compact and nicely woven into a narrative so we can jump to the new story and not feel like we have to retread over and over again.
@@nicolos.4022the problem is I think Pizzaria Sim plus UCN was supposed to lay out the final missing details but he did them in SUCH a convoluted way (see: Midnight Motorist) that no one could figure it out
Honestly I think that's impossible even for Scott at this point unless he does one full and complete reboot of the entire series leading up to Security Breach to make a streamlined timeline. Because anything less won't work. He has to purge the timeline of what is honestly a mountain range of inconsistencies and more importantly, he needs to establish a timeline unmarred by the "It Was A All Dream" setup, that one especially because that is a giant nuke of disruption on any coherent timeline that doesn't just outright dismiss FNAF 4, which Sister Location prevents you from doing.
The divorce theory and buried mother ALMOST makes sense, and I want to believe it… it seems to fit way better than anything else even if it has its own issues as well
I can believe it making sense. The divorce being represented in the cartoons at the end of the nights at sister location. And the death of the mother never being shown. All of the on screen deaths were animatronic related. Hers clearly wasn't animatronic related since it was never depicted. Leading us to come to the conclusion that it was natural causes related. Also, I can believe her soul simply moved on as soon as she passed. It didn't possess an animatronic, because an animatronic didn't kill her. How would Ballora kill Mrs. Afton? It didn't because Ballora wasn't even conceived at the time of her death. Ballora was built by Afton in order to cope with her death.
@@ItalianBrussel I have a counter theory to the buried mother theory, and it could just be a buried nightmare animatronic. As the only other time we see anything buried, is in the Silver eyes novel trilogy, with the buried animatronics. One grave = 1 animatronic, that's why there's only one pair of animatronic footprints. I dont think there's anything that hints or mentions to his wife's death, and they could just be split apart. (Might also explain why Elizabeth isnt at that house, as she's in her mother's separate house)
@@ItalianBrussel but the mother being dead makes way more sense then she just left and then somehow ended up in ballora. Who in their right mind would leave the kids for afton to take care of?!
Here's a great way to sum up the FNAF lore: People being stuffed into robots, robots stuffing themselves into people, and a serial killer who defies the laws of reality.
I'd like to add, the safe rooms were probably sealed because of the missing childrens incident happening. In 'pressure', one of the new stories from 'tales from the pizzaplex', it's mentioned that William murdered the kids in the safe room. So management attempted to seal the truth away by sealing everything that led to the kid's dissapearance.
I also want to say that CIRCUS BABY HAS TWO SPIRITS IN HER!!! Think about it for a sec. Elizabeth Afton is murdered by Circus Baby due to her programming from William Afton. Elizabeth still has her memories of who she is and where she came from. Now, William afton goes and destroys the original animatronics with the remnant souls inside. Afton takes the remnant and injects the stuff into the Funtime Animatronics. The Funtimes become hostile because they believe that Michael Afton is the Willy in FNAF SL. When Michael is scooped, Ennard is created with the bodies and souls of the Funtimes (original murders) and crawls inside of him to escape the location. When they finally escape, Ennard jumps into the sewer and leaves Michael's body. But we can hear Circus Babies voice, and Circus Baby specifically tell Michael that he will not die. The reason why he does not die is because Elizabeth Afton, Michaels sister, recognizes her brother and out if love she keeps him alive. But I do not believe that Elizabeth Afton would have scooped her brother in the first place. She has no reason to hunt down her Father because she was murdered by Circus Baby. I understand that Circus Baby is Aftons creation, but Elizabeth does not know that Circus Baby was designed to murder. All she knows is that she was killed by the animatronic. The reason why Michael was scooped was because one of the original murdered kids wanted to escape the location. They had no idea who Michael was or who cared, but out of a majority, the murdered kids wanted to escape, which meant that Elizabeth had to watch her brother suffer extreme pain. But so that she could get something out of it, Elizabeth decides to keep her dear brother alive. That is when she is kicked out along with the other spirit that was with her into Scrap baby, which is why you can hear her voice, but her actions just don't seem to be like hers (trying to murder any Afton). I also believe that Elizabeth was kicked out BECAUSE she was an Afton. Thank you for your time. Please add this to your next video if you are reading this MatPat.
ok, if that is what that story says I definitely agree with brussels claim that these books are cringe. did we not already figure that part out? or is that made it up? is there a difference between lore and wild mass baseless crazy conspiracy theory? are our theories canon or is the only canon things (not necessarily) explicitly in official sources?
5:17 FINALLY! Someone finally understands that these games were made up as they were being created. This is the definitive timeline in my eyes because you are the first person to realize that since the lore was made up with each title, the previous games can not be used to explain future ones. Thank you for creating an actual timeline that is clear to understand and not just making a 1 hour video that’s just incoherent rambling (matpat).
Well matpat timeline make sense as well. They show a lot of connections and evidence as well, doesn’t matter if the game were made up as they were being created, it have lore and give us a hint on what happen.
Everyone is commenting about how well you put together this lore (which you did, and probably in the most believable timeline i've seen yet). However, I was honestly even MORE impressed by the editing in this video. Amazing work all around !
anyone else notice how the way the core 7 games are released DIRECTLY goes with the ways that the nights are structured? Theres 5 main games, a sixth game for exposition, and a custom night.
I’m so glad someone actually uses evidence instead of inferring everything using cryptic signs, a total overhaul of the timeline is what we needed. Although I feel like some evidenced in fnaf 4 could be used for later games as later games may have taken insignificant details from fnaf 4 into account (such as the pigtail girl although I don’t believe in that). Scott could use stuff from previous games to retroactively leave breadcrumbs
I do somewhat agree, but if we claim that then we need to do two things. Define what the fnaf 4 evidence meant at the time of release AND at the release of sister location
"I’m so glad someone actually uses evidence instead of inferring everything using cryptic signs, a total overhaul of the timeline is what we needed. " Who would you happen to be talking about
I genuinely think this is one of the best fnaf theory videos out there because it acknowledges the very true reality that Scott's view on where the story should go has changed drastically through the course of the franchise at multiple points.
This is the best timeline theory I've seen, it explains everything and has proves it with game evidence. The editing and humor is fantastic. ALSO FINALLY SOMEONE MENTIONS THAT THE BITE OF '83 CAN'T BE SPRINGLOCK RELATED
@@RealRickyDickyDooDaaGrimes it was explained in the video, since the suit was in robot mode the spring locks were already activated/closed so they couldnt snap shut, even if they snapped open it should have just fell over or something
@@RealRickyDickyDooDaaGrimes Because animatronic mode is the resting mode. The springlocks exert effort into keeping the animatronic parts compressed towards the edges of the suit rather than in the center. Think of it like... lifting something heavy. "Animatronic mode" is like having a barbell on the ground. You might be gripping it, but you're not lifting it. Your arms won't get tired. "Suit mode", then, is akin to lifting that barbell and holding it up. The springlocks are in their "under stress" state. A springlock failure is when something jostles your grip, the barbell slips out, and your foot is crushed. The barbell goes from "being held up" to "on the ground"; the springlocks go from "metal bits safely compressed to the side" to "everything snaps back into the center, and woe if that space is currently occupied by a squishy human." Cue accidents/injuries/death/irreparable and grotesque maiming. No, the Bite of '83 was likely a much simpler problem: Fredbear programming says "close mouth". There is an obstruction in the mouth. There is no code to stop closing the mouth if there is something blocking it. Fredbear's jaw is stronger than the Crying Child's skull.
Thank you for actually being critical of the story lmfao. Breath of fresh air tbh. I'd really like to hear Scott explain the lore himself sometime, because I genuinely don't believe he even knows anymore.
i am literally shocked this has such little views, i only realized when i only saw 25 comments. seriously, this video is insanely high quality and actually made sense of this mostly-incoherent lore
One thing I'm still confused about is how in FNaF 3, Michael got hired to work at Fazbear's Fright. Didn't Enard leave him looking like a zombie? If I was looking to hire someone to work at my horror attraction and I saw him walk in, I'd probably call the CIA to come and take him away to he studied in a lab for fear of the T-virus becoming a real thing.
Yeah, valid. Michael Afton wasnt even a concept when fnaf 3 came out. But I guess he applied online since its 2023? Or he got rly good at disguising himself ig
Remnant got lodged on Michael's body, so when he "died" his own soul got sucked back down to his body, possessing himself. He changed his name, and he covered his face. Changed his name, because he doesn't want to be asked questions by anyone, because his name links to the name of a man who was a suspect, they'll ask him questions he doesn't have the answers to. Covered his face- That's all he did. Covered his face.
it's explained in the books that Remnant has healing abilities, so when Ennard left Michael's body, some Remnant remained in his body and healed him overtime (also explains why Michael doesn't die in SL minigame)
I don't think the cutscenes were completely literal. Michael didn't become a completely purple zombie man. But he does look pretty off and smells horrible.
This is one of the greatest timelines I've ever heard. It ties up SO many loose ends about the timeline that I completely forgot existed so this was real treat.
Ain't nothing beating this video unless Scott himself were to reveal the true timeline in a lengthy post, which to be honest, is never going to happen. I've watched this video countless times due to the pacing, editing, and storytelling that's presented. Makes the lore much easier to follow. All I can say, man, is you knocked it out of the park. Congrats on all your success, brother. God bless.
Thank you!! I couldve paced this a lot better it retrospect but thank you for recognizing the technical work that went into this, it took a very long time
actually there is a way to beat this video, it just requires 9 hours. Gibi’s good idea bad idea is the best fnaf lore video and disproves all of this talk about “dream theory”
@@derpythean-comdoge8608Dream theory is completely wrong. This video never exactly says that, but if you have brains you'll know that this video doesn't support dream theory at all. Also, I've watched Gibi's video, and I definitely think this video makes more sense. Especially with the timeline of Fnaf 5.
Let me say, as somebody who has zero nostalgia for FNAF - this was a fascinating, well-produced, well-paced video. I really appreciate the approach you took, considering what the developer was thinking, when.
To be honest, I like your timeline better than matpat's most recent one. I don't dislike matpat's timeline, but I feel like yours sound more based on logic, and it's amazing to see how you've taken notice of smaller details, make direct notes towards them, as the video goes along. With matpat's most recent timeline, I do like that he tried to make it feel more like a story told, but a lot of times, I feel like I had to rewind a bit understand something, and a lot of times I was just faced with the question of "Where did you get this information from?", and a lot of times, I feel like his explanation at the end never answered those questions, and I'm kinda just left wondering what information comes actually from the games, and what information , and conclusions have matpat theorised up. I never had that happen with your timeline, I feel like your timeline is very well put together, as well as the video, you very nicely put notes of where the information, you base your conclusions on, comes from, the video was an absolute pleasure to watch! Amazing job! Sorry, if some of my wording doesn't make much sense, english is not my first language.
Matpat included his theories in his timeline analysis while this guy mainly based his timeline on irrefutable facts in the game I kinda don't like matpat for that reason as well, his theories are too wild sometimes
@@reinhartnata47 "Matpat included his theories in his timeline analysis." Thats literally exactly what this guy did but he skipped making videos on the seperate theories.
@@pixelspixelation6418 sorry I guess I worded it out incorrectly. What I meant to say is that the guy provided proofs and his theories are more grounded while matpat skipped a lot of proofs and also being too wild with the theories
@@reinhartnata47 Well to be fair i feel like matpat used the books to explain the games a lot more than this guy and the way he made his timeline insinuated that he would like you to watch the vids where he goes more in depth (Matpats videos pretty much only explained the parts he hadnt mad theories on alr). Plus this guy barely explained security breach. Tho i will say if you havent watched any of matpats previous videos you are for sure correct in that this guy provided more proof because as i said previously he didnt explain much (Tho i will say i 100% say that he was incorrect on the miss afton being the big boss of security breach). Pretty much what i mean is that depending on what you are talking about and what content you consumed before the timelines i may or may not agree that he provided more proof (Not trying to spread any negativity if you get that vibe i just suck at putting what im thinking into words)
Afton didn't separate himself from Henry after murdering Charlie, Henry had a suspicion that Afton had killed Charlie because Afton was becoming a hostile drunk and kicked him out of the company, leading Afton to create Circus Babies' Pizza World. (Henry tried getting Afton arrested but there wasn't enough evidence that he had killed Charlie) This is the best FNAF timeline so far :)
I thought this initially, but CBPW is listed as a Fazbear Entertainment establishment in the character encyclopedia I believe. Doesnt really kill your theory tho, afton could easily pull off CBPW while apart of FE and open it under their umbrella, hence why the IPs of Freddy and Foxy are at CBPW in Funtime Freddy and Funtime Foxy
a timeline I agree with almost entirely! I agree with what you said about Help Wanted and further, FNAF 6 was the perfect ending with UCN a nice little epilogue - so I'm really hoping not literally every character from the old story ends up coming back "just because". Also this video flows and is edited perfectly btw, well done on this video and keep it up! :D
Thanks man! I looked at your timelines a few times for reference for theories and they were a great resource! Love to see a creator comment on my work!
7:24 I STILL remember how incredibly hyped I got at this part of MatPat's video even though I watched it so many years ago. Glad I'm not the only one who went NUTS over this 😆
I have a very severe hyperfix on fnaf, but I also have exactly no time to go through game lore and figure out the confusing mess that is the timeline, and this video is actually really helpful for that, because it fits with my personal views of the game and how the night guard(s) actually fit with the lore. Basically I’m saying this is a great video and feels the most plausible out of the ones I’ve watched lmao
@@layzee7135Gibi’s Good Idea Bad Idea has the BEST fnaf lore video. goes through every single game and picks them apart perfectly. it is 9 hours long however.
With so many takes on the lore its amazing how so many will interpret certain things differently. I agree with most of this aside from Fnaf 1-3 being a dream until the retcon and the nightmare animtronics being real. Its very clear to me with the IV and the Flowers and such this is a nightmare while crying child is in a coma from the bite and the evidence you provided to say they are real is, well, iffy at best. Everything else i think is spot on. Also random shoutout to using my fav Celeste song for a lot of the video
I love Wendigoon's theory that FNAF 4 takes place during Evan's coma (or "crying child", he's referred to as Evan in Wendigoon's video) (if you watch his video 'The Complete Five Nights at Freddy's Story Explained' I feel like it makes so much sense). So instead of everything previously just being a dream (so not happening IRL), it all shows up there because it's from stuff he saw. Even if it's not what Scott intended I think it's better lol.
It makes no sense because Why the fnaf 4 place does really exist and it has cams to secure the child inside if it was a dream how did mike know about it ? I know the medicine and flower stuff but it doesn't make any sense because of that cams at sister location
@@quackilifer9700 In Brussel's newest video on Midnight Motorist, it's explained Michael most likely went through the same surveillance CC did during Fnaf4, causing Michael's distain for his younger brother seen in the game.
@@violeta373 I was talking about the cams at sister location office that shows the room of the michael's kid (fnaf4 place) why do michael need to check his kid while working why michael thinks that his child is in danger ? if it was a dream michael would'nt know and the fnaf 4 office, place whatever needed to not appear on the map so the dream theory is not good
@@goblinbxtch7540 ikr? it's really interesting that both theories, while totally different, have their own place and make sense in each respective theory
FNAF has so much lore to solve that its almost considered impossible without everything. You have the books, the games, the merch, a lot. It’s insane how much FNAF had an impact on us and the main story itself is almost unsolvable. Even MATPAT was struggling with his final timeline. With that said, I CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT THIS VIDEO HAS TO OFFER
The divorce and death of Afton’s wife perfectly explains why crying child is always scared and constantly crying. Anyways, loved this video. You explained everything way way better than MattPat.
I get what your saying and its perfectly ok but why would Michael all the sudden be standing up for his brother if hes devoted his time to terrifying him.
At 30:34 that quote doesn't necessarily mean that Afton made the Nightmare's physical animatronics. It just means that they, as a concept, were recreated by The Vengeful Spirit in this "personal hell" for Afton. Nightmare Freddy, the very same character, has another quote claiming "I am given flesh to be your tormenter." Implying that he wasn't a physical entity initially but rather an illusion that Afton crafted for FNAF 4. Further backed up by the other Nightmare Animatronics having quotes such as: "I assure you, I am very real." "This time, there is more than an illusion to fear."
I'd counter the idea of them just being concepts by pointing out that it doesn't make any sense for Afton to know about the Nightmare animatronics unless he *physically* created them in some way, as they were used to scare the crying child but Cassidy doesn't have any memories tied to their existence. By this logic, the nightmare animatronics had to physically exist in some way (whether as some kind of props that couldn't actually move, legitimate animatronics, etc) and Cassidy is using the memory of them in William's past to torture him. You could argue that they're a manifestation of the crying child's nightmares if you wanted, but I'd also counter that by pointing out that the lines seem to be reaffirming that they indeed DO exist as if Afton is aware of them.
I think that they ARE illusions due to the illusion disks in the twisted ones, giving context to the quotes and afton knowing about the nightmare animatronics by tuning the illusions disks to look like them, meaning he had an idea as to what to make them look like to the crying child
@@sneakretster afton is aware of them not because he physically made them completely, he made the illusion disks in the funtime animatronics, its explained in the twisted ones book (even though the books' story and game story aren't completely coherent, scott has said the books has some clues to explaining the game story) and also theres theories cassidy and crying child both inhabit golden freddy and therefore the crying childs memory of the nightmare animatronics would carry over to hell.
@@sneakretster I think you misunderstood my initial comment. What I said was that the quote using "remade" doesn't mean that the animatronic was a real/physical animatronic, but did exist in some form pre-UCN, hence why the *CONCEPT* of the Nightmare Animatronics are "remade". Regardless, your rebuttal implies that Afton has knowledge and a history with a FNAF World and characters such as Old Man Consequences simply because they exist in the UCN roster. Which... I don't think there's anything to suggest that Afton would ever have any knowledge of stuff tied to FNAF World right? Either way, point being, it's more likely that Afton "created" the Nightmare Animatronics with illusion discs. Meaning that he's aware of them and that they do exist but that they aren't PHYSICAL. Which is what the video was claiming to be the case.
@@CobRaM4tRIX im so glad someone can agree with me, this guy also forgot to mention the 3 easter eggs in fnaf 4, the water bag pole, the pills, and the flowers all basically says that after CCs accident he went to a hospital ofc. CC Afton had repeative nightmares due to his coma of these original fazbear and friends as nightmare robots.
42:58 I am so freaking happy someone finally brought up William using Golden Freddy to kill a group of kids. It’s something that came from the original theories surrounding the game and got kinda washed over when spring Bonnie was introduced,, but the idea of the main man Freddy fazbear (or fredbear) being the one to be used to cause the casualties just makes more sense thematically. I’m happy this theory/timeline provides a way to fit both ideas
Honestly I think that by this point, there are multiple valid timelines for this franchise, it's gotten re-worked and rebooted so much since Scott never intended to continue making these games that it's impossible to make a definitive timeline since there's always some puzzel pieces that are simply impossible to fit in no matter how you put it.
Extremely late but this video is so incredibly amazing omfg- you blew my mind dude, everything in fnaf has never made more sense than now. Tysm for taking the time to do this 😭🙏
this is my favorite one, just satisfying how you make everything click together. I just envy scott, since he is the only one that truly completely knows the fnaf lore
@arandomvillager3315 yeah that's fair enough, but I would very much not be surprised if he was just adding cool stuff in because spooky and cool. who knows, we're not Scott:)
I always thought that Glitchtrap wasn't William Afton himself, but rather a digital recreation/mockery of him, focusing on his worst traits. This makes the ending of UCN not completely undone while also introducing a new antagonist, rather than literally the same guy.
You are kinda right, after the recent fnaf books, we now have confirmation that Glitchtrap/Burntrap is not Afton but a robot called "The Mimic" who from the name alone, mimics whatever it sees and must have saw Afton murder those children and decided to do that.
I like this video way more than the other fnaf lore videos I have seen, cause this one is actually interesting and has more possibilites of being cannon than the other videos I have seen. Also usually the video I have seen are uninteresting and doesn't make things match together, this is opposite. Great job.
Actually one of the most satisfactory timelines I've heard. The context of when each game came out in relation to the other games and therefore what evidence can be used from each one for the timeline is often overlooked. A good timeline, keep it up man!
I OWE YOU MY LIFE, DUDE. Nobody made perfect sense of the lore like you do. I love Matpat and all, but *damn* is his timeline frustrating to sit through! I have now officially adopted this timeline as my own personal headcanon for the series of events in canon. Thank you again, man. Wow!
Man this is a really great video. I think you hit the nail on the head with most of it, even though I don't like all of it I don't think you're necessarily wrong. The only thing I would maybe challenge is the whole Circus Baby's timeline being so early. The Funtime animatronics being children snatching machines feels more appropriate to happen post MCI, not before. Otherwise William kills Charlie, makes really complex murder robots, never uses them, and then uses Spring Bonnie.
I agree with you that Baby's Pizza World SHOULD happen later in the timeline due to the characters' functions, but we know that it had to have been established before the springlock suits were decommissioned. Night 4 of SL states that the suit that you're inside was created for Baby's old pizzeria, a restaurant that could not have existed after FNAF 2 since we know the suits were banned by then (since the FNAF 3 tapes establish they were discontinued in the 1983-1985 Freddy's location before the MCI, as Phone Guy's dialogue implies William secretly used the Bonnie suit for murder after it was decommissioned) It creates a weird paradox where either, - Baby's Pizza World was created BEFORE the decommissioning, but was decked out with murder robots after William had only killed Charlie at that point in time, OR, - Baby's Pizza World was created and the suit was used illegally AFTER the decommissioning, and after William had gone to court for the first MCI due to being spotted on the cameras. Even though he was released ("Nothing was ever proven in a court of law"), the Novel Trilogy + Fazbear Frights show that basically everyone in the area knew he did it anyway, so him being able to establish a new location is really unlikely. It doesn't make sense either way, but tbh that's FNAF at this point
There's a lot of theories in here without evidence that need to be inferred, like Mrs. Afton being dead or using the spring bonnie suit to scare the crying child, but you've done super well with these confusing confusing games. You're the first person I've seen acknowledge that dream theory was reconned in and Then retconned out, leaving 3 separate plot threads. Also i love that every meme transition you used is probably one i also have downloaded
First of all wanted to say that I really like how you laid out this theory - it's a solid explanation of what's happening (and we don't have to deal with those darn books). I actually started to speculate on my own on something you brought up, and while I can't connect everything smoothly, it is an interesting angle to look at things from, I think. So, you speculated that Crying Child is sneaking off at night to visit the unmarked grave in the woods, likely his mother's, and that William has been doing everything he can to keep him from going there. But that brings up two questions: why would he want to keep his son away from the grave, and, why would it be unmarked and in the middle of the woods and not in a graveyard? I think that Charlotte wasn't actually William's first victim: I think he first murdered his wife, likely after an argument in a fit of rage. The points you brought up about The Immortal and The Restless make me think that William and Wife always had a contentious relationship - that he felt doubt about her faithfulness and she always resented him for said doubt, even when they reconciled enough to have two additional children. This likely spurned their divorce, and their relationship only worsened when Elizabeth died and William fell into drinking and isolation while Wife felt alone raising their broken family. One day she confronts him, and William snaps. Maybe it was an accident, like a shove down the stairs or against the counter. Maybe he grabbed her neck so she'd be quiet. Maybe he'd had enough and grabbed an empty bottle to come at her with. Either way, Wife Afton is dead, and when William turns around to examine his surroundings and figure out what to do... he realizes that the loud noises woke his youngest son. He sends him off to bed, claiming Mom just fell and he'll take her to the hospital, and he goes to bury her instead, brushing off her death as a sudden accident and claiming they couldn't afford a proper funeral. I feel like that would also help explain some of Crying Child's constant anxiety (other than being bullied all the time and having animatronics stalk you when you sleep), and why he would be so quick to assume a murder's happening when he sees presumably his father playing the suit head on the employee. He knows that his father was angry, there was a lot of noise, and Mother never came back from the hospital. Trying to reason with the fact that you're living with a literal murderer would make anyone cry constantly, and would explain his insistence to sneak out at night and where he's going - the idea that he's going to Freddy's never made sense to me. But if he's visiting the unmarked grave to be with his mother... that would also explain why William would go so far out of his way, risking his life (even a humid night could kill him!) to keep his son quiet and compliant. Would also make the jump to him killing Charlie make a bit more sense, as if he were jealous, you'd think he'd go after Henry and not Charlie. But here, he's already murdered before. It doesn't matter if he kills a little girl or a grown man. He wants *someone* to hurt, and Charlie was just easier. (Though I do realize this would make Henry's "a would first inflicted on me" line make no sense, but it's also possible that he just didn't know. Maybe Wife Afton had health problems and it would be easy to claim she fell and hit her head in a way that was believable, so he just didn't think to ever pin it on William.)
Really valid! My explanation for why william prevents CC for going to Mrs aftons grave is simply his nature as an extremely controlling father. In that same minigame, we see him say “this is my house,” angrily, reenforcing this characteristic. Its less about preventing cc from going to the grave, and more about him simply obeying his father.
@@ItalianBrusselLet me just put that out there the FNAF 4 game was an illusion do your research it was stated and confirmed long ago because when the crying child died his soul somehow ended up in this weird nightmarish world I can't explain all of it because it would take too long but FNAF 4 was just an illusion the rest you got right.
It's implied in one of the newer games Wife Afton unalived herself, although that could be a cover up and I believe she was a victim of William as well. "A wound first inflicted on me" can be explained through the context of William killing the children and stuffing them into suits for remnant since Puppet/Charlie is considered first.
Also to add onto this ^^ if we assume Ballora is somehow a robot version of Mrs Afton she has a line saying "an empty tomb" which is interesting and would make sense if we assume whoever's unmarked grave was buried without their body, a literal empty tomb.
Something that I’m surprised got glanced over was the shadow animatronics and the theory that they are workers being correct. Workers at a kids play area are supposed to SHADOW the kids to prevent them from getting hurt. Note there isn’t a jump scare either if you encounter them in FNAF 2, and would rather stand there, “shadowing” you. Idk its something I noticed nobody else did
It's awesome to finally see someone at least try to explain what makes Cassidy so special. The whole "one you should not have killed" shtick always bothered me because, uh, he shouldn't have killed ANY of them?!?! Hello?!?!?!?! You want to brutally murder and stuff those other 16 kids? Sure, but you can't have THIS one, he's the CHOSEN ONE! But the idea of Cassidy possessing the suit while Afton uses it? Genius. It's a whole new level of trauma that probably gave him his ability to literally save a man from certain, absolute death out of SPITE. Also, fuck Scott for being the WORST at naming his characters. Emily is not a last name. Cassidy is a very unlikely boy's name (maybe not so much now because gender is a social construct and thing's can't BELONG to a particular gender, but it sure as fuck wouldn't have happened in the late 70s/80s whenever Cassidy was born). He comes up with the most badass villain name William motherfucking Afton and then breaks out this goofy aah Fritz Smith shit for everyone else.
The one you should've have killed is in reference to the most vengeful spirit. It seems that the other children are at least willing to move on but Cassidy isn't and is keeping the others to help torment William. As, if it wasn't for Cassidy, William's hell would likely be different than the one we're shown
I honestly feel like your video is much more realistic and put together compared to others. You really broke down and explained your logic without pulling too much out of your ass. I appreciate it a lot!!
I know nothing about FNAF, but the fact that this video is exactly one hour is satisfying me to levels I could have never imagined in my wildest dreams.
A video literally putting things on a timeline, exactly what i wanted. Btw, i've never heard more senseful explanation of Shadow Bonnie and Shadow Freddy. Chapeau bas
I’m almost 25 and I remember when this game series started when I was a sophomore in high school and I got hooked. I had a kiddo come in to my job and grabbed the new fourth closet book and he said “liking fnaf is cringe” and I have never felt more attacked by an elementary school student
Dream theory covering the first 4 games doesnt make sense from the crying childs standpoint. Hes dreaming of work but never held a job. Thats something overworked people dream about.
There are things even in this timeline that don’t make complete sense as well. No timeline is perfect. It seems kinda weird that William would murder one child and all of a sudden have the idea to create these super advanced murder robots to do the killing for him and then he goes back to doing it manually while also have created a large underground bunker. I like the idea of him building the Funtimes after seeing Charlie possess the puppet because it makes a lot of other events fit cleaner. It’s just that sudden escalation to him creating advanced killing machines after one miser that’s a little weird. At the end of the day, we’re all trying to figure out and understand the lore of this game franchise and everyone has their own reasons for placing certain events in certain places even Matpat. Tbf, he was one of the main pioneers for the Fnaf lore and without some of his contributions, we wouldn’t have known some of the things we do know today.
@@elijahsmall5873 He created the funtimes to extract remnant. They werent made for murder, thats just how William saw the best way to create it. His escalation isnt that hard to believe as it happens all the time irl, and he escalated to murdering an innocent child because of a jealuos rage. but I agree, Matpat gets a lot of unnecessary shit when he is a major voice in fnaf lore.
I've always wanted to try to go back and look at things from Scott's perspective, knowing that he didn't have everything planned out, to solve the lore that way, but I never got around to it and I don't want to make a video explaining it. And I don't have any other socials. Glad to see someone thought to do the same thing. Edit: glad to see yet another person who understands how springlock suits actually work. I swear that misconception drives me up the wall way more than it should.
Solid timeline, man great work! Midnight Motorist is a hard one to figure out, I didn’t think about William terrorizing his youngest with the suit. That’s a cool idea. The only problem I have with the MM segment, is that instead of the grave being Elizabeth, it’s Mrs. Afton’s. If that was true, and you’re saying MM takes place before fnaf 4’s mini games, then how are the brothers staying at their mom’s house? William continues to be at his small house, hence the bunker, so he didn’t just move into her house. I think maybe Elizabeth died first, and because the youngest was a fan of the animatronics, he had pluses of the cast in his room, William tried to scare him out of liking them by being outside his window. Micheal sees his brother starting to be afraid of the animatronics, and does what all big brothers do. I think it starts to become a coping mechanism for losing his sister. He does it all the time, and it escalates too far, causing another one of William’s children to die.
I totally agree with you, I recently started playing FNAF’S and I was looking for understanding into the story for my RUclips channel because I finished security breach and ruin and just bought the first eight games not the VR games yet and just stumbled across your video. your series hold up more than the ones that you were talking about and as someone who has Redcon his own writing, and still working on it today that’s exactly what he did. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Thanks again for making this video. I fell in love with a franchise myself recently and my viewers did too and I got new viewers from it.
Nothing quite titillates me than the internet bloodsports over FNAF lore. I love the revival of the FNAFdom and an uprise of new FNAF creators, looking forward to watching you go insane with the others! Great vid!
the entire time I was watching this I was thinking about how insane the editing was. then I got a headache thinking about how much time that must have taken. you're super talented dude, you got a new subscriber that hopes to witness your growth!!
This is absolutely perfect how it covers EVERYTHING, and if you've only followed the games 1 through 6, you can finally mentally put everything to rest of the story/lore like myself. 😊
In Security Breach, Vanessa recounts her childhood in the therapist tapes. But it’s not her childhood. It’s most likely Elizabeth’s. An abusive father named “Bill” who convinced her to recite lies about her mother during a custody battle causes her mom to end her own life. Maybe William threw into question his wife’s fidelity during the custody battle, claiming that Michael wasn’t his. He gets Elizabeth to slander the mom and mom ends herself.
The transition clips you used absolutely golden, no pun intended. Needless to say, a lot of my views on the timeline have changed quite a bit. I’m not saying this video is 100% correct, but my god is it probably the most accurate and well put together.
My views on this timeline have also changed, mostly due to more recent evidence, but I still think this one holds up pretty well except for the lazy summaries of help wanted and security breach
i really liked this timeline best. i think a lot of the community is really fixed on making the narrative work with previously established theories. this timeline seems to fit even with all the meddling and retconning that happened after part 3. this timeline explains a lot, but i do feel missing aftons drive to be "evil" is the only issue i see. the idea of him going on a murder spree because of grief and jealousy is really compelling. especially if you salt the narrative with the history of chuck e cheese and showbiz pizza place, but add a little bit of a Gacy. in that using something kids both like and fear to exert some kind of power/control. especially when all of his attempts to be a serial killer, or to get revenge on henry, are thwarted by his own kids. i do wonder how his wife factored in to all of this. did afton end her, did she end herself when she found out who he really is, or just leave before all of this happened? cuz that would give more context to ballora. because while they may act like animals now, at least ballora, seems to have remnants (lol) of her original "programming" whereas the others dont seem to, well it could be argued that foxy is a dog i suppose and to a degree behaves like an animal but for good reason.
The fact that Cawthon admitted that he retconned FNaF 4 is very important to anybody who cares about the story. FNaF 4 implies that the entire game, or at least the final nights, were the dying nightmare of Crying Child, while Sister Location implies that the events of 4 indeed happened and the Nightmare Animatronics were real. I didn't knew of this admitted retcon (neither did Wendigoon) but now is kind of easier putting things together.
the retcon in fnaf 4 is the crying child. he literally says “i used SL to clear up a misconception about fnaf 4 “ and the retcon was “seamless” and “nobody could notice” video game theory proves the retcon. this is why gibi’s good idea bad idea is the best fnaf lore video. he explains everything.
this is absolutely awesome, and explains lore so well. I love how you go into depth with the main 6 games, and despite giving a quick and brief summary of the new gen, manage to explain it so well
This timeline has been the most conclusive and satisfying story to me since I watched it the first time, but I’m coming back months later just to let you know I still call her “Wife Afton” thanks to you. Cheers
I'm only half way through rn but my god you deserve way more views. This is probably the best timeline video I've watched that makes sense and has clear evidence to support it.
Bro how is it possible to present fnafs impossibly complicated lore in a video that is both informative but also hilarious af. Fr tho you did a great job on this and I enjoyed every minute!
honestly you made the best timeline video I've ever seen. everything you say makes sense and I think you may have actually made a solid timeline making context when the games were realsed as well.
5:31 just wanted to mention that circus baby was a concept in fnaf world, before SL. im not saying the pigtails girl theory is logical, just figured i should add that :)
THIS IS SO GOOD! I had it in my watch later for like a week and finally got time to watch it. The midnight motorist part was the best explanation I’ve ever heard. This was also hilarious as hell. Absolutely subscribed!
i've rewatched this video multiple times because the amount info here is jampacked along with the perfect type of humour that gets me laughing, great job!
I love the idea of the golden Bonnie costume being sealed up behind the fake wall. If Afton used the golden Freddie costume instead, it would make sense that the spirit inside would be so messed up after. I always was confused by the vengeful spirit, because of the ferocity of the punishment given to afton during fnaf 6.
Found this vid by chance earlier in the week from my fnaf lore binge. And this is probs my fav FNAF timeline vid, i have already rewatched it a few times.
43:02 I just find it funny that William is literally wearing the suit that killed his child, and the worst part about it is that the crying child has possessed that suit; This takes father-son bonding to a whole new fucking level and I am here for it
this is such SUCH SUCH a good timeline!!! i dont know if its perfect, there are quite a few odd points to me but the mentioning the dream theory until fnaf SL and then scott retconing it just MAKES SENSE
What makes Fnaf so special is that there are always new theories with the amount of content that comes out. I feel like if fnaf's lore is officially completed then it wouldn't be as fun.
So no being condescending or mean. poopyheads
EDIT: DDLC VIDEO IS OUT!!

ANOTHA EDIT: seeing a lot of ppl confused about the trans gregory line, gregory isnt actually trans but there was a mistranslation in one of the Tales stories in the books leading to a conclusion that he was trans.

YES!!!! SERIOUSLY
@@Ashefaultcap
I've thought about that too and I agree it was in animatronic mode I will respect everyone's opinions thought
YES BRO!
Yea and nightmare also says "This time there is more then an allusion to fear"
Yeah I'm pretty sure even in the later games' lore, fnaf 4 (not 1,2 and 3 though as in dream theory) takes place in a coma after the bite of '83, leading up to crying child's death
Maybe their appearance is not real but they were physical entities
@@dedicatedbydaylight4470it should be noted that the medicine as evidance was from scott’s original dream theory ending from 4, so it dosent really hold up as evidence afterwards. great insight though
It’s interesting seeing the differences between this and MatPats theory , a lot of parts can be changed and it shows how wide open the fnaf lore is.
Just watched MatPats videos but some of his theories were made up, he eventually leans into something similar to it then changed the story

Me too, at this point after 8 years it would be great to finally know the unsolved lore
@@nicolos.4022the problem is I think Pizzaria Sim plus UCN was supposed to lay out the final missing details but he did them in SUCH a convoluted way (see: Midnight Motorist) that no one could figure it out
I think fnaf is based on these fan theories and the magic with fnaf would be broken if the “real” story comes out
We really just need him to reveal the story of the early games so there’s a solid base to go off of for later theories
The divorce theory and buried mother ALMOST makes sense, and I want to believe it… it seems to fit way better than anything else even if it has its own issues as well
I agree it does have issues lol
❤❤
Here's a great way to sum up the FNAF lore:
People being stuffed into robots, robots stuffing themselves into people, and a serial killer who defies the laws of reality.
Yes, this is 100% true

And that Henry didn't lock William in the safe room but locked the suit back there so William couldn't use it.
Thats every theory
Why wasnt the bite of 83 springlock
Evan cried on the spring locks activating them
@@RealRickyDickyDooDaaGrimes it was explained in the video, since the suit was in robot mode the spring locks were already activated/closed so they couldnt snap shut, even if they snapped open it should have just fell over or something
The barbell goes from "being held up" to "on the ground"; the springlocks go from "metal bits safely compressed to the side" to "everything snaps back into the center, and woe if that space is currently occupied by a squishy human."
Cue accidents/injuries/death/irreparable and grotesque maiming.
No, the Bite of '83 was likely a much simpler problem:
Fredbear programming says "close mouth".

150k in 13 days is pretty good!
The theory is not very good
One thing I'm still confused about is how in FNaF 3, Michael got hired to work at Fazbear's Fright.
Fuck this remnant concept honestly XDDDD
God bless.
Thank you!! I couldve paced this a lot better it retrospect but thank you for recognizing the technical work that went into this, it took a very long time
@@ItalianBrusselhi !1!1!1!!!111!11!
actually there is a way to beat this video, it just requires 9 hours.

No I understood perfectly, that was my exact goal of this video. Thank you for leaving such a thoughtful comment!
Matpat included his theories in his timeline analysis while this guy mainly based his timeline on irrefutable facts in the game
I kinda don't like matpat for that reason as well, his theories are too wild sometimes
(Henry tried getting Afton arrested but there wasn't enough evidence that he had killed Charlie)
This is the best FNAF timeline so far :)

I STILL remember how incredibly hyped I got at this part of MatPat's video even though I watched it so many years ago. Glad I'm not the only one who went NUTS over this 😆
Same, that shit gave me CHILLS
I have a very severe hyperfix on fnaf, but I also have exactly no time to go through game lore and figure out the confusing mess that is the timeline, and this video is actually really helpful for that, because it fits with my personal views of the game and how the night guard(s) actually fit with the lore. Basically I’m saying this is a great video and feels the most plausible out of the ones I’ve watched lmao
I really liked wendigoon's version of the lore you should check it out

Even if it's not what Scott intended I think it's better lol.
also can I just note the vast differences in the two video's theories of Midnight Motorist, wild

Thank you that’s so sweet. This series was my childhood and I feel like I owed it a tribute like this.
How...?

@@af0970because his brother literally died
At 30:34 that quote doesn't necessarily mean that Afton made the Nightmare's physical animatronics. It just means that they, as a concept, were recreated by The Vengeful Spirit in this "personal hell" for Afton.
Nightmare Freddy, the very same character, has another quote claiming "I am given flesh to be your tormenter."
Implying that he wasn't a physical entity initially but rather an illusion that Afton crafted for FNAF 4.
Was he even involved with the creation or story of the vr game? Doesn't look at all like something he'd make

Night 4 of SL states that the suit that you're inside was created for Baby's old pizzeria, a restaurant that could not have existed after FNAF 2 since we know the suits were banned by then (since the FNAF 3 tapes establish they were discontinued in the 1983-1985 Freddy's location before the MCI, as Phone Guy's dialogue implies William secretly used the Bonnie suit for murder after it was decommissioned)
It creates a weird paradox where either,
- Baby's Pizza World was created BEFORE the decommissioning, but was decked out with murder robots after William had only killed Charlie at that point in time,
OR,
- Baby's Pizza World was created and the suit was used illegally AFTER the decommissioning, and after William had gone to court for the first MCI due to being spotted on the cameras.
This is Fr the best fnaf lore theory story, thanks for putting your time in this video, it is literally PERFECT❤
Its insane how much scott has impacted the world. There are still videos being made on it with the timeline and theories
In ucn Scott literally admits that dream theory was never cannon through mr hippos voice lines
As, if it wasn't for Cassidy, William's hell would likely be different than the one we're shown
Cassidy is commonly theorized to actually NOT be a guy.
Yea well Cassidy is most likely a girl anyways
He stuffed Cassidy in the Golden Freddy suit , one of Aftons most personal suits

Dream theory covering the first 4 games doesnt make sense from the crying childs standpoint. Hes dreaming of work but never held a job. Thats something overworked people dream about.
Isn’t that the issue with dream theories in general? That they’re always so stupid
Eat your heart out Matpat, this guy made the timeline make a lot of sense
Tbf, he was one of the main pioneers for the Fnaf lore and without some of his contributions, we wouldn’t have known some of the things we do know today.
except the fnaf 4 animatronics them being real when they’re not, it’s crying child imagination not real physical bodies.
@@elijahsmall5873 He created the funtimes to extract remnant. They werent made for murder, thats just how William saw the best way to create it. You have a great sense of humor, not to mention this timeline was extremely satisfying. Keep it up!
Thats what I was thinking too.
I absolutely adore the editing and humor, you just earned yourself a new customer

Bro, its 2023, and the fnaf movies comin out, fnaf 3 being placed this year, there best be a horror attraction.

@@ItalianBrussel I’d love to see a video of your view on the timeline now :) great video man
@@ItalianBrussel i agree, i’d love to be updated on new thoughts or tweaks to the timeline.
i really liked this timeline best. i think a lot of the community is really fixed on making the narrative work with previously established theories. this timeline seems to fit even with all the meddling and retconning that happened after part 3. this timeline explains a lot, but i do feel missing aftons drive to be "evil" is the only issue i see. the idea of him going on a murder spree because of grief and jealousy is really compelling. especially if you salt the narrative with the history of chuck e cheese and showbiz pizza place, but add a little bit of a Gacy. in that using something kids both like and fear to exert some kind of power/control. especially when all of his attempts to be a serial killer, or to get revenge on henry, are thwarted by his own kids.
i do wonder how his wife factored in to all of this. did afton end her, did she end herself when she found out who he really is, or just leave before all of this happened? cuz that would give more context to ballora. because while they may act like animals now, at least ballora, seems to have remnants (lol) of her original "programming" whereas the others dont seem to, well it could be argued that foxy is a dog i suppose and to a degree behaves like an animal but for good reason.
43:02
I just find it funny that William is literally wearing the suit that killed his child, and the worst part about it is that the crying child has possessed that suit; This takes father-son bonding to a whole new fucking level and I am here for it
This is crazy well made! I appreciate someone making a timeline video that’s actually engaging the whole way through.
I've rewatched this so many times, this is so well explained and so well edited. This slop is so high quality
Ngl this is the best timeline ive seen. As of sb ruin, we now know glitchtrap wasnt afton but the mimic so will you be making an updated lore video?
Maybe.. only if I have stuff that others havent mentioned. Dont want to steal other ppls theories
30:32 “By the one you should not have killed”? Isn’t that Cassidy?
as a person who has ever just started watching fnaf through markiplier, this was extremely helpful and entertaining 10/10
Scott definitely retconned multiple things at multiple times, not just once. Remember that we see Charlie die to the tune of "S A V E H I M".
This is BY FAR the best and most evidence-packed Five Nights at Freddy's timeline. Great job!
this is the first time ive seen a perfect explanation for the shadow animatronics in fnaf 2. genuinely obsessed with this theory it feels so right
My brain didn’t melt! First time that FNAF Lore has been explained decently to me LOL.
This is awesome and I'm glad you made this. Just because Game Theory had one in the works doesn't mean others can't make one too.
this is such SUCH SUCH a good timeline!!! i dont know if its perfect, there are quite a few odd points to me but the mentioning the dream theory until fnaf SL and then scott retconing it just MAKES SENSE
Props to you for making what I believe to be the most plausible FNAF timelines.
39:27 I wanna see the shitfart animatronics
this is a fantastic video so well put together definitely my favorite fnaf timeline video i’ve ever seen i’m hoping this gets more views!!
What makes Fnaf so special is that there are always new theories with the amount of content that comes out. I feel like if fnaf's lore is officially completed then it wouldn't be as fun.
