I remember back in the day when my company use blackberry and their Network exclusively. As a former I.T. manager, I would get all the new devices that came out to test with our Networks. It's always been the best and most secure device. It's a shame that it lost its standing when the other devices like galaxy and iphone became more fashionable and people that used BB for business like many of us end up losing out. I wonder if Blackberry (John) now regrets giving that contract to Onward Mobility and not to someone else.
The best and secure? The myth has somehow persisted to this day. Blackberry data protection and eavesdropping scandals overslept? BB has always been known to report any suspected copyright infringement immediately and has turned over all private information of politicians on request. Since there was never security in the company, it's a nice fairy tale for people who also believe that virus protection on their PC would protect them from viruses.
I had one. I bought it with my own money and used it at home and at work. It was a massive productivity device. I remember standing in a very slow immigration queue bashing out work emails and personal messages. Replaced it with a Z30 when it stopped working with some very useful third-party apps. I still have the Porsche and its way cool charging cradle. BlackBerry was already over the hill and falling behind but I bought the Porsche with my head, not my heart.
@@TechOdyssey Onward Mobility could literally have remade that exact phone with updated chips and android OS, run with that, and I would have bought it in less time than it took me to write this comment. BB will always be special in my mind. It was my first smartphone ever. It's always sad when brands die out due like this. Even if it is due to mismanagement.
I could never afford the Porche but I will go on record to say that if the Q20 (Blackberry Classic) had a bigger screen it would have been THE BEST BB device. That keyboard was dreamy and the screen itself was surperb, minus the size :-). I still have it.. Makes a great alarm clock these days :-).
Really ? An alarm clock ? I have used a passport in early 2019 and nearly 8 out of 10 websites worked good on it. But i used it mainly for Calls and music . It was a cumbersome experience compared to a modern smartphone but the feel of it made me want to carry it outside more than my IPhone SE 2016. How are website working on it these days ?
In 2022 the stylish Dumbphone you can get. Someone sold me his brand new P'9981 for $50. love it Timeless design. Since I only use it in Germany for calling and texting, it's perfect for me. Bought a second battery for €5. Get by without any problems for 3 days without having to go to the station. Focus on life and get the things done.
My memory of my Blackberry days was popping out the track ball and cleaning it once a week. I was a heavy equipment mechanic so this was probably not a good choice of phone but I still loved them.
All the Porsche design Blackberry phones were so epic yet at the time for me, unattainable. I stuck with my Curve 9300 which I still own and still keep as my most memorable device and love it to bits. I also loved the Passport but again, when that came out, I couldn't get it either. Hence I was forced to move to android. I'll never forget the feel that the Passport gave in the hand.

Extremely beautiful BB but too far above my price level. I never actually saw anyone using one. Perhaps ‘we’ are simply too practical to go crazy on such a high priced item. Great posting as usual. Thanks.
For sure. It was crazy expensive. I could never bring myself to buy one when when I finally could “afford one”. I ended up buying mine from eBay for like $450 later on and I was able to enjoy it for a few weeks and add it to my collection. Such a beautiful phone.
The special passports you're talking about were as you describe and numbered */50 since there were only 50 made. They actually weren't too much more, if memory serves I believe they were around 12-1400 CAD when the regular passport was 9-1000. I wanted to get one so badly but had just bought the red special edition passport which cost around a hundred dollar premium over the black and white and could only be purchased on the website like the one you mentioned. By the time I had decided to get one they were sold out the next day. I saw one for sale on ebay once years later but was already disillusioned by that point. It would be fun if other phone companies would do things like that. Put out limited colours and numbered phones. If blackberry could do it surely it couldn't be that difficult for another manufacturer to do it.
so cool and gorgeous. question: once the end of life period comes and goes what happens to all the physical blackberries in the world? are they just now paperweights? hope you and your family had a great Christmas!
I had a Blackberry in 2004 provided by work, plus I carried my personal phone. When it came time to get a new phone, I decided to change to the brand new Blackberry Storm, Blackberry's answer to the iPhone. This would allow me to only carry one device. It was easily the worst phone I've ever had. Towards the end of my 2 year indenture, it hardly worked even as a phone. I was overjoyed when I got rid of the Storm and replaced it with a Samsung S4. I haven't even looked at a Blackberry since.

Hello. Thanks for this video. I have a question for you. I want to buy bb classic, just for telegram o WhatsApp,do you know if this phone has 4g connection?thanks
I’m still holding out hope that one of these days they’ll do a product red pro max. I think I’d try one out if they did release a new 5g blackberry. But it’s looking like the glass slab has taken over.
I miss soo much a bb phone… hate those slabs phones, and as you said, need the keyboard, love your content! Find a way to bring new content about onwards mobility! We need to know
Quite simply what you need to do is provide a list of previously released Blackberry phones that still might be useful after Jan 4th 2022. Or are ALL of them dead in the water? My best friend had the Blackberry Torch 9800 for years after having used previous models like the Bold and has been waiting for the 5G and as it is still not out, we wonder that is the best fill in. Are there some models that might still be usable of the Blackberry line? For the extreme fans, if you did provide a list like that of what might still be useful and for how long, some might go looking for those on secondary markets.
If my Cobalt Classic had a modern updated browser and US carriers were not shutting it down 3G (so stupid as it is a 4GLTE device) and its capabilities it would still be my DD. Beautiful and still the best PKB to ever grace a BB. One handed bliss with the track pad.
Shout Out to TO, for keeping the BB legacy alive! I was never fond about the design of the Porsche. The Classic was a better looking device, and cheaper.
I always wanted a classic Porsche model. Unfortunately it never happened. I loved the screen size and keyboard layout on the Classic. It was my most favorite regular blackberry.
Hi brother, great video again. Here in India they are selling for around 25000 rs (330 dollar)? Is it worth it? I have a Key 2 now but i can't use it due to the famous "spacebar" issue (here are no blackberry repair shops). By the way, in description, it should be P9983 (instead of 9883) ;)
i have 3 huawei porsche design, a blackberry bold and a priv... i am using the priv atm... don't worry... mate 10 pro porsche design is 7 to 800 dollars now days
I don't think anyone who used smartphones in the early 2000s could/would argue that there was a better pure messaging device than a BB. I think had they focused on consumers earlier instead of putting all their eggs in the "Enterprise Services" basket, things might have went different for RIM/Blackberry.
Would love for you to try the q5 and share your experience I feel like the keyboard felt so good but yes it was cheaply made lol but that's what it was made for affordability
@@ipromisemusic they will no longer be supported by blackberry. To the extent it woks on any carrier will likely be outside the US. I don’t even know if they will work after that date honestly.
@@TechOdyssey wow now this is interesting so you're saying anything circa Priv will cease to be usable...atleast in the US!? That seems unlikely but a terrible turn of events if so
@@ipromisemusic January 4th is end of life for BlackBerry 10 devices meaning that they will no longer be supported for back end services or for updates. And they already won’t work with at least ATT. T-Mobile will be shut off soon too. They don’t support VoLTE so the only place they may work in the future is ok networks that still allow 2G/3G.
Yes and no, to a limited extent. But if you don’t already have one that had been setup, don’t bother. You can’t set one up anymore because you can’t create a blackberry ID, which is needed to setup the phone and use it. If it’s already been setup and you used it before then it depends on if the network will allow it.
I know this is slightly seperate... But this (along with your recent "We need a keyboard" video) HIGHLIGHTS that if Nokia are dropping renewed versions of old phones, they NEED to release an E63/E72 'Refreshed' phone that can run things like WhatsApp/Signal/Telegram.... 🤔🤔🤔🤔 😎🇬🇧
If Onward Mobility actually wanted to sell lots of phones, they would put THIS TACTILE KEYBOARD FROM 10 YEARS AGO on a REGULAR MARKET PRICE phone. It's not as if tactile keyboards are somehow expensive...it's stamped plastic. Put the damn things on a REGULAR PRICED PHONE. Key1 and Key2 were STUPID for not doing this. They would have made a lot more money.
Oh man...I still find myself wanting this one!

For the extreme fans, if you did provide a list like that of what might still be useful and for how long, some might go looking for those on secondary markets.
Cool device! Still going to be a regret that I never got to fire one up and use it during their life cycle!
It was certainly an awesome experience
If my Cobalt Classic had a modern updated browser and US carriers were not shutting it down 3G (so stupid as it is a 4GLTE device) and its capabilities it would still be my DD. Beautiful and still the best PKB to ever grace a BB. One handed bliss with the track pad.
I wish I never got rid of my blue classic…
Shout Out to TO, for keeping the BB legacy alive!
I was never fond about the design of the Porsche.
The Classic was a better looking device, and cheaper.
I always wanted a classic Porsche model. Unfortunately it never happened. I loved the screen size and keyboard layout on the Classic. It was my most favorite regular blackberry.
@@TechOdyssey hi there. Will these devices stop working in usa with tmobile soon? I wanted to get one bit this video came out timely
I had the BB Storm. It was nice but not enough memory.
Hi brother, great video again. Here in India they are selling for around 25000 rs (330 dollar)? Is it worth it? I have a Key 2 now but i can't use it due to the famous "spacebar" issue (here are no blackberry repair shops). By the way, in description, it should be P9983 (instead of 9883) ;)
Thanks for the heads up. It’s a typo.
Is it 4G to work in Australia?
Good cover!
Thank you.
i have 3 huawei porsche design, a blackberry bold and a priv... i am using the priv atm... don't worry... mate 10 pro porsche design is 7 to 800 dollars now days
Heck, I'd buy one now if I could actually use it for work on my network
Does this phone work in the US networks?
It won’t after January 2022
@@TechOdyssey Understood, but for now, does this international phone work on a T-mobile or AT&T network?
I don't think anyone who used smartphones in the early 2000s could/would argue that there was a better pure messaging device than a BB. I think had they focused on consumers earlier instead of putting all their eggs in the "Enterprise Services" basket, things might have went different for RIM/Blackberry.
Just bought one
Sir does Blackberry porche support wats app ?? How to download it
update problem? can donwload latest android?
Now only found in museums
Weakness of recent BBis when the machine became a mobile entertainment device for the public.
Things change and unfortunately BlackBerry didn’t recognize the change soon enough and adjust and got left behind. This happens in every industry.
any news on the new bb that was supposed to be out?
My dear brother, how can I buy this phone....
BlackBerry operating system was my favorite. Now there is a rumor circulating that there will be no BBs at all soon. Horrible! I am really upset.
did onward mobility drop the new phone yet?
No
You can get the Porsche clock on Samsung Galaxy 4 classic watch as a face
Oh sweet.
Does this phone work in 2023? I’m looking to purchase one of these off eBay brand new!
Yeh im thinking the same if it works in Australia
Would love for you to try the q5 and share your experience I feel like the keyboard felt so good but yes it was cheaply made lol but that's what it was made for affordability
If it weren’t going to be a dead prejudge in 3 weeks I would…
@@TechOdyssey are you saying come Jan those phones on bb10 won't even work anymore? I thought it just meant no more future support
Can we still use this in 2022 ? For calling and texting only
Yes and no, to a limited extent. But if you don’t already have one that had been setup, don’t bother. You can’t set one up anymore because you can’t create a blackberry ID, which is needed to setup the phone and use it. If it’s already been setup and you used it before then it depends on if the network will allow it.
@@TechOdyssey I guess it's not happening now then 🥺 broke me heart a little .
Nossa e por onde anda a Black Berry sumiu
Still hoping and waiting for a keyboard phone again. Still using keyOne. I still have my passport as well.
With blackberry shafting all their customers not a chance they could ever sell anything with the blackberry name on it .
That would be great!
You're right. But if they had management that wasn't so stupid they wouldn't be where they are now. It's a real shame.
I'm convinced they are not interested in selling phones.
Didn't Blackberry custom made solid and gold plated Blackberry Phones for the Saudi Royals?
That sounds familiar but I can’t remember
Living in Dubai i can confirm that Gold plated phones are very commun. Some company actually custom made some major brand.
