And alot of us 1960's kids had a few Herb Alpert LP's, too! It wasn't just adults who loved "Spanish Flea". Remember that this was a time when teens were buying 45 rpm's of "Java" by Al Hirt, "Everybody Loves Somebody" by Dean, "Strangers in the Night" by Frank, "Call Me Irresponsible" by Jack Jones and "Winchester Cathedral" by The New Vaudeville Band.
@@dancerdon9175 I had a female teen cousin who was head over heels crazy about Jack Jones! It was such a great period for music when children and teens had the chance to experience the artists from their parents generation get played in regular rotation on pop music stations.

Love this! Herb's remake of The Third Man Theme was the original A-side of A Taste Of Honey. When "Third..." didn't appeal to many DJS, A&M pushed "Honey" and BAM! A Top 10 hit!
The original videotapes probably didn't survive, but it seems almost certain that the kinescopes did. Dick Clark Productions probably has the fine grains, while copies of them probably survive in the Paley Center.
As Gomer Pyle said, Surprise! Surprise! Great costumes from the dancers and Herb Alpert's TJB could have recorded the phone book and sound commercial. This Saturday is Diana Ross's 78th birthday. On yesterday's Jeopardy 2 contestants thought she was 95 (in 2021). I'm still laughing.
Love it! Love it! Love it! Always loved Herb Alpert and Tijuana Brass. Thanks again Uncle George for another good clip from WTAI. As usual, you never cease to amaze me Aaron. Thanks for the mid week surprise.
Thanks to Uncle George for this gem! I sure hope there's more coming. Any raw WTAI tape is great to see given the only complete shows that remain are kinescopes and 2nd or 3rd generation VHS dubs of them. You can only wonder if he has ANY complete shows on tape?
Great version of the Theme from a Great movie. Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass recorded so many great, fun and danceable songs and I remember growing up that he had one of the few bands that both my parents and I could enjoy together. As a matter of fact it was my parents who bought his albums that I would then claim as mine, lol. This deserves many more views and likes👍 I heard Herb and his wife own several restaurants these days in California.
A surprise Tuesday afternoon delight! Aaron, the research that accompanies each of your uploads is impeccable and today’s clip is no exception. Watching this makes me feel like a teenager again. Bravo to you and Uncle George. The “roll tape” intro is a huge bonus 🎥.
And a lovely surprise it is Don! My mother would have this type of instrumental on the radio as she did the ironing. I would pony my way thru the kitchen. If I tried that now...you could sell tickets. Ted LePlat second boy from the left. Oh good lookin'! The apple didn't fall far from the tree for him. Gracias Uncle George. 💃😘
Thank you Don! I always love seeing and sharing these rare clips from Uncle George. The quality of these videos really helps me imagine how cool it must’ve been to be a teen in the 60’s. Hopefully more to come🤞 😉
I would think that Dick Clark's opening voiceover went like this: "Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass have a new take on a theme song from an old movie. Dancing to 'The Third Man Theme', here are our own Action Kids".
Uncle George strikes again!!! Hey Aaron! This was a great surprise cuz I just got to work & saw this sitting in my sub list! Great way to start my shift. This is such a cool clip. It's great to see this in raw form. I too noticed the vinyl surface noise at the beginning too. Some music TV shows still used vinyl well into the late 80s as I recall an extremely short lived local dance show here in NYC, can't remember the name, played Jody Watley's "Don't You Want Me" for the dancers, and it skipped! I would love to see music shows with choreographed dance segments like this again, but everything evolves, I guess... lol Anyway thanks for this & thank UG for us as well. Be good Aaron!
I knew Jerri Lynn (Jerrilyn), the short girl on the left, 40 years ago and liked her very much.
Well, I'm green with envy.
I feel comfortable enough in saying that pretty much EVERY Parent of 1960's kids had at least one Herb Alpert album !!

Hey...EVERY KID in the 1960s had at least 1 Herb Alpert album!
When it was safe and happy, just having fun. No victims, no hatred. Good times they were.
Those Action Kids were awesome, this is also a very good Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass song!
I’ve loved Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass ever since I was a kid. My parents were big fans.
Man, I wish we could go back to these times!
I remember this song and Group Very Well. I was 6 in '65. My Favorite Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass Hit is "This Guys In Love With You".
He recorded that song w/o the TJB

If I could go to California,l'd patronize their restaraunts for sure.
Are all the dancers still alive today? They would have to be mid 70's today.
Most are alive and even active on FB! Unfortunately, I know that Roberta passed away a number of years ago.
Sadly, Roberta and Steve passed away several years ago, but the rest are very alive and well.
Most of The Action Kids are alive today, with the exception of Roberta Tennes and Steve Ciro.

Yet another gem from Uncle George!! THANKS FOR THE POST, Aron AND Uncle!!
I was 11 in 65 and this song.Always Reminded me of the movie zorba, the Greek.
hmmm...those girls sure did have some shapely.....well, you fill in the blank...lol.
I would think that Dick Clark's opening voiceover went like this: "Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass have a new take on a theme song from an old movie. Dancing to 'The Third Man Theme', here are our own Action Kids".
I think that a cover version of this song featuring electric guitar, electric bass, and drums might have been a huge hit.
Nice, clean print for a change.

It's hard to tell for sure, but it looks like Joy Ciro, who eventually married Bobby Hatfield. She passed away in 2023.
