Kids on leashes VERY underrated. My brother used to think it was very fun to just straight up run away from my mom, sometimes into traffic. Kid leashes are for a child's safety. And of course if it's uncomfortable or stresses them out don't use it. But a lot of them are super cute and have a little stuffed animal backpack that makes it more like a toy than a restraint. So as long as you're not yanking the kids around they're safe and happy.

Yeah I had one when I was little, my mom got it cuz I liked to try and run into build-a-bear and I liked to show off my little monkey back pack
I had a monkey on my back I named ‘ahah’ and his tail was a leash! I actually really liked it and most of the time forget it was on until my parents would lightly tug on it or I was about to run into oncoming traffic, which was almost a normal occasion 😂
Yeah I saw a post asking for leashed kids opinions on being leased and I didn’t see any negative comments. Everyone was talking about how it probably saved their life. Especially for autistic kids who have a tendency to run off. My older brother was the only kid leashed in my family and it’s because they would run off. Also it’s safer than holding their hand, many kids under 5 can easily dislocated their elbow when their hand is being held and they turn to move in another direction because they saw something interesting. Not to mention how leashing you’re kids can make going out much less daunting and stressful as a parent due to the children being better controlled and much safer.
5:30 here's a fun story, my professor once told me her and her husband took the kids to see the grand canyon and her two year old just fully walked off the fucking edge and she had to power lift him back into the living world with the child leash he was wearing so i'm gonna go ahead and agree with chris 😂

I legitimately had to see a neurologist to figure out why I had short term memory loss and I almost lost my job because I was forgetting everything. Turns out it was my anxiety/depression/stress getting so bad that my brain said NOPE and I had memory loss for literally months

I just wanna give the perspective of a mom on the whole leash thing. When my son was like 1.5-3 and we went anywhere crowded he wore his backpack leash. Because a) he can’t run off and b) nobody can grab him and kidnap him. I think it’s the safest option and definitely isn’t traumatic. My son wouldn’t rather have to wear the backpack than hold my hand.
I have to agree with you here. I’m 16 now, I used to live in Chicago and my mom would use a kid leash to keep me from getting lost. I ran into the road and It ended up preventing me from getting hit by an oncoming car. I wouldn’t use one on a kid older than 5-6, but they are certainly not going to cause trauma if they are used normally lol.

I fully agree although leash kids don’t give a fuck and are a menace to society even when on the leash so there’s no point. And I’m speaking from experience That silver toothed gremlin still slid under my stall in the bathroom like a rabid dog. What was it gonna do if released? I’ll never know and it haunts me to this day.

I was never on a leash because I was a clingy only child but I can definitely see why some kids need to be. A lot of kids love to run off and if you're in a busy place with other kids to keep an eye on, it can be so easy to lose track of a runner and end up in a really scary situation. It's not ideal but if it's for the sake of a child's safety, definitely leash them.
I was on a leash , & will do it for my children if I ever have them 🤷🏼♀️ I was all over the place as a kid.

Kids on leashes is for SAFETY! Toddlers are faster than you think. And if you turn your back for a second, they could be snatched. If someone tries to kidnap a kid on a leash, it much easier to notice and stop since they are attached to you. It’s for safety.

I don't think it's as traumatizing as you would think it is, as long as the parent doesn't abuse it or use it as a weapon against the kid. but i personally think it's underrated. you can never be too careful

Also, hold your arm straight up over your your head for more than ten minutes- not comfy.
Plus, tethers allow them to have more of a sense of independence and autonomy with the little bit of extra "freedom" and their own bag to carry things and feel important if they have one with a backpack.
my sister would try and run off anywhere when she was a toddler and we eventually had to get one for her and it was the best decision ever. we were constantly paranoid she'd fall off a cliff if we were hiking a trail, or her going to hide if we were shopping, etc. this still gave her some independence without letting her get lost, or like you said - even snatched up

I agree with it when its needed. Not every kid can be taught or will listen about not running away and how dangerous it can be. It can save lives and its completely harmless (same with parents that have more than one kids too)

I've also read stories of kids getting snatched up right next to them in a blink of an eye. I wish i was a leash kid i hated having to always hold moms hand or keep my hand on the cart, at least with a leash the kid can explore safely. Dont judge parents who are trying to keep there kid safe.
Yeah some kids really do need to be on leashes, especially ones who are easily distracted and overstimulated. How can a parent compete with predators that are watching for the exact moment they look away to snatch your kid? Or a kid that zooms off right when their mom let's go of their hand? Babysit a kid who does this for 1 day in public, then lemme know how you feel
