LOVE the concealed headlights... very rare option and they really set the car off well. People today laugh at features like concealed headlights, opera lamps, vinyl tops, etc., but I LOVE THAT STUFF!! 🥰
Hidden headlights didn't stay around too long..our family car was a 1971 Caprice that I learned to drive in (pretty much the same car) and the hiddens had kinda gone away by then..of course, they were still big on Vettes...Corvettes that is, not Chevettes, if you get my joke!!
@@alanhumphrey4198 Hi Alan, yes, they were short-lived and only available as an extra cost option and only on the Caprice. The years they were available was '68 & '69, that's all... and IIRC, they cost $60 extra. Sounds like peanuts today, but in the late '60s, that was a decent chunk of change... most people opted for bigger engines or power windows instead. 🙂
I had a 1970 gold Chevy Impala Convertible black 400 engine power Windows am-fm stereo no ac I lived in NH they didn’t put ac’s in up there but I loved that car
Beauty! We had a 4door in blue with white top new in 1969, Built like a tank compared the cheap plastic cars they make today, I can still hear the 5th Dimension playing over the FM stereo.
👍Fine American classic right there! Way back when we knew how to make ‘em right! Nowadays they’re mostly plastic POS’s that all look alike. The SOUL is gone! Thx for showing us this beauty!
Lovely old girl - I’ve always preferred the formal roofline of these 60’s era Chevy’s to the fastback models! From the days when dealer would screw their “ad plate” into the trunk lid….🤬
Only missing a few options, no tilt steering, power seat, power door locks, vigilite, no headlamp washers, no power antenna, no outside remote cont rear view mirror, and prob did not have the optional stuff for traction in snow or ice that shot out this rubbery stuff from a nozzle in rear wheel wells. The canister that held the stuff was in the trunk. I'd still buy it in a heartbeat
You could get cruise control on these as well which it's missing, but it's till quite loaded for the era. Electric windows, comfortemp automatic climate control - both pretty rare, high-end options for any car south of a Cadillac in 1969.
I had one just like this one. Except mine was a 1970 model. I put a 400 in it out of a 71 model. Holly 650 double pumper, Edelbrock performer intake, Turbo 350 transmission with a B&M TransPak, B&M rachet shifter, posi rear end, electric fuel pump and a nice fat cam. Mine had the same wheels as this one here with G/Y Eagle GT+4 low profile tires. Mine also had rear fender skirts. It also had this neat little light that was built into the center rear view mirror. You reach up and slide the lens to the right to turn it on. I’ve never seen one like it since. She was a runner.
1969 was, in many ways, a great year (outside of the war). We had the miracle Mets, Woodstock, and the best cars. And, of course, we landed on the moon!
Mine was almost like this except for no concealed headlights and a Black Top, instead. Olympic Gold is the color. I had factory disc fronts and rear defogger. 350/300hp. It got 21 mpg on the highway. Absolutely beautiful.
Just curious…. was it the Impala? Also, was it the L48 350 engine? I was thinking those 300 HP engines made the Camaro, Nova and Chevelle models only. L48 engine was in my 69 SS Camaro burned premium fuel and was high compression. My buddy drove regular a plain Jane 69 Camaro but had 350 engine low compression and burned regular fuel. It was rated at 255 horsepower from the factory.
What a nice car, the headlights option is very rare considering it was available in 68 & 69, but it does make the Caprice look very cool, it needs stereo radio & 8-track tape with the front speakers in the kick panels, plus the strato front bench seat with fold down center armrest, just like looking at the Caprice Darrin & Samantha drove on Bewitched!!!
Did they have hidden headlights on the SS models in 70 and 71, love that feature, thought a friends mom had a 70 SS Impala with hidden healights. All Caprices were beautiful cars, lots of chrome, great colors, elegant over the Impala.
LOVE the concealed headlights... very rare option and they really set the car off well. People today laugh at features like concealed headlights, opera lamps, vinyl tops, etc., but I LOVE THAT STUFF!! 🥰
Only idiots may laugh at that, back in the day it was top of the world

The body lines on a 1969 Chevrolet Impala custom Coupe are literally perfect
I agree!
I had a 70 caprice same colors same interior 400 engine two barrel one of the best cars I’ve ever had
I LUV a caprice with hidden headlights...the '69 grill was designed for them for sure. This car is a stunner...loaded...if it was a BBC, I'd be dead.
U must really like BBC !!!
I dig the BBC too.
Had an identical 70, Champagne Gold #55, white vinyl roof, & gold interior, power windows no locks, 400 small block. Top 5 of favorite owned vehicles.
Is champagne gold the 55 the paint code

If this were re-made today exactly like this, they'd sell like hotcakes.
The Three People Who Gave This A Thumbs Down Have A Suspended Drivers License.
This car has comfortron !
Love the hide away head lights.
Oh boy, do I wish that I could have had this car when new. My favorite Chevrolet of all time.

Super nice Caprice, last year for the 14 inch wheels, 1970 they were 15s.
Car is Beautiful. I had a 69 Impala fastback they were fast cars

Looks like an Impala steering wheel.
Def not an original car. Pieced back together

Beautiful car... I had a '71 with the big block.
When I said big block engine it was the low compression 400 (maybe 402?) not the 454.
Heavy duty car for sure

Very, very, very gooood 😃
Fantastic condition !
Thank you for sharing your video
If GM would remake these they would sell out in a week. I would like mine with a 396, 375 HP 4 speed.....
Beauty, i like the 71 -72 , but this is really a nice example !
Mine was medium blue. 396 turbo 400. Put a 650 Elder Brock. Great car.
Love it. I would buy this over any new car today with very few exceptions.
WoW not too bad. Emission compromises were in early stage .
that is beautiful
Gorgeous!

Great car, love the 2door
Except for the Vette, I don't see too many Chevys with hidden headlights!
1st gen Camaro &'68 - '69 Impala - Caprice. That's all except Vette.
@@RadggsAutomotive The Rally Sport Camaros, yes, but not the regulars!
That's why I loved the Lincolns...Love hidden headlamps!!
Beautiful
Buddy of mine had this same car, same color w a 400 4bbl. Thing ran like a scalded dog.😁
That’s not a time capsule, it’s a time machine and it’s 1969!

@@spaceghost8995 WOW, you need to learn cars talk! Duh!!!

@@jimdent351 Ok

Nice, buy people don't realize an impala custom or impala SS were actually top dogs not the caprice.
That's an ugly ass car. Never liked that them. I like the 1968 Impala.
