The only player who it makes sense for them to hang onto is Coby White. White is young, on a great contract, and has shown All-Star upside in recent months. That's their first building block for the next era. Now it's the front office's job to surround him with other good players on a similar timeline. The path to doing that is to trade away their veterans. Everyone in the entire NBA recognizes this except the Bulls. Maybe they truly don't care because their attendance is so high that they make money either way. But the fans deserve better.

That's exactly how ownership has operated since the 90s. Put together a team that's decent to good, then hold on to all those guys even after it clearly doesn't work anymore. If you have consecutive front office groups operating the same way, it's an ownership problem, plain and simple
Even with MJ, they refused to let Phil Jackson stay as coach when Jordan said he would come back for another year if Phil was there. They refused. That’s how dumb this franchise has been
@@Romanus-they may have won a seventh championship but I don’t think so. One thing MJ was wrong about in that near-end part of The Last Dance was when he said that they would have been able to convince Pippen to come back for another year. There’s no way he would have done that. He was completely fed up with the Bulls organization by that point. Financially, he basically was the sacrificial lamb by being criminally underpaid, which allowed them to keep the team together. He had already won six titles with them and understandably wanted to cash in before the end of his career. Let’s face it. Without Pippen, they don’t win a seventh title. All this being said, they still would have had a solid season.
Having good vets around the young guys > Going into another rebuild for no reason. Rebuilds are massive risks that don't pay out for every team. DeRozan has contributed greatly to the progression of Coby White, PWill, Ayo, Dalen etc. If anything the Bulls are just biding their time to "retool" around the young core they have when there are better options available.
Having vets is good but they make up the majority of cap ($100m to Lavine / Vuc / Lonzo) so to theyre basically looking to win as oppose to nurturing the likes of Coby and Pwill. Since theyre so tied in, theyre basically stuck in the midfield. They're already over the cap and still need to extend Demar and PWill, so their roster lacks flexibility. Knowing the front office, they will await to convey the Spurs pick next year before going out to retool / trade out those big contracts.
@@Joefdgtr Thats why they were desperately trying to get off Lavine's contract, they were sort of close but New York's deal ended up being more attractive for Detroit.
you dont know what teams offered the bulls for their players. and just because they made no trades doesnt mean they didnt add players. so that was pointless. the reason why competion and parity is dead in the sports is because everyone preaches championship or tank. teams making the playoffs is no longer looked at as success.
The issue with this tear-down mentality is that the Bulls have a ceiling (or floor depending on how you look at it) on how bad they can be without getting rid of the young players they're trying to develop. Coby, Ayo, and Pat aren't going to set the league on fire, but they're certainly a better team than the bottom rung of the league. So either the Bulls would have to ditch those guys in total opposition to logic or they'd end up where they were right after the Jimmy trade, too good to get a super high pick but too bad to even make the 7th or 8th seeds. Sitting on assets isn't a great plan but every young guy on the team talks about how impactful playing with guys like DeMar and AC has been to their game. It's better to keep them as a way to help the younger players get better rather than just moving them for a few second-round picks that go nowhere. Too many people I think work off the idea that rebuilds are a linear progression. Trade the near stars for picks, suck for a few years, then be contending, but that's not how it works. You need a strong culture even in the losing years or else the team just never gains any traction and the young players fail to develop. That's why the Pistons are still at the bottom despite multiple top picks, the Hornets have never been good no matter who they pick up, and the Rockets were awful until they got a new coach and a few vets to help pick the kids up. You need the culture in place first or else all those picks are just pissing into the wind.
What trade could they have made to make the team a contender? The team came off a rebuild 3 years ago. You do not rebuild a team every 2 to 3 years. Why would the Chicago be the first team to do that?
what are they gonna do with that though? probably lose in the play in, and almost guaranteed 1st round exit if they even make the playoffs. Very little young talent and being stuck in mediocrity won't give you talent in the draft that really moves the needle. Best move is to just blow it up
toronto deff didn't overvalue their players. just look at what happened with OG and the knicks when given a defined role and is surrounded by an honest to god good point guard.. he was deff worth what masai was asking for. and pascal is a weird situation because he's a 30 y.o proven #2 on a championship calibre team but given the new cba rules, maybe not deserving of a new max contract. but pacers deemed he was and raps got 3 frp's for it. masai already explained his reasoning as to why both players weren't traded last year. people need to move on
lol. it seem like the media and Podcasters want the bulls to give away their players for nothing and go into ANOTHER rebuild. they just want somthing to talk about. the bulls record show they are better then half the league. so a disaster is a stretch. just say you mad because teams you like could use some of the players the bulls have. 20 teams in the nba are going nowhere. so trading just to trade is stupid.
Do you like being a play in hopeful with no hope of being anything more? Do you enjoy picking outside of the Lottery and having your cap space tied up in players who are not good enough, and are getting worse as they age?
@@shorewall oh no. you misunderstand. I didn't say I like it. the bulls is tough to watch right now. no arguing that.... I'm just pointing out that If the bulls is a disaster then so is 20 other teams. more then 20 teams haven't sniffed the nba championship in over 20 years. like I said.
As a Jazz fan, watching videos like this makes me grateful that our FO has the balls to trade away stars at the right time. This deadline frustrated our fanbase, but I'm happy we didn't do what Chicago has done (prayers up for Bulls fans)
Apparently the Bulls don't feel they would have gotten value for their players. It could be argued that Chicago's bad spell began with Ball's injury situation. If Ball ever were to be healthy, the entire situation could change (with the same players). It is interesting that you say Coby White is a rising star. Not that long ago folks were wondering if he was really an NBA guard.
I dissagree with this... you got a decent young group , coby white going for mip this season , ayo dosunmu good 2 way player in the making , p will good 3 and d player with room for growth ,we didnt trade caruso because hes a culture setter... we didnt make any trades because the offers on the table made us worse...since december the bulls have a 59 winning g percentage.... how are the bulls the worse when every team is clustered up in the middle ..the bulls are only 3 1/2 games back from the 6th spot...
I’ve said this on a few other threads before and I’ll say it again. The Bulls had a nice young core but got impatient and tried to vault themselves to the top of the East before it was wise to do so. It looked to be working through the majority of the 2021-22 season when they were atop the conference, albeit taking advantage of a favorable schedule to that point. Unfortunately, Ball suffered serious injuries right when he was finally realizing his potential. The Bulls chances to contend with the current core went down with him. Honestly, I think Chicago got desperate and made that Vucevic trade after some rumors began circulating at the time that LaVine was possibly going to request a trade in the near future.
The Bulls are now alone in the mediocrity club. Raptors finally tore it down by the trade deadline. The new Wizards front office did it before the season. Imagine if the old Wizards front office was still in charge trying to win with Bradley Beal on a super max and newly resigned KP and Kuzma on near max contracts (which they were in talks to do). Good luck to Bulls fans.
This guy is mad his fav team didn't get the players they want from the bulls 😂. 1. There's no phenom in the next draft, 2. There's no super star available. Might as well run it back. First round draft pick addiction is real 😂.
Pretty much what you said. Rebuilds are just as risky as retools or continuity, especially in the face of mid drafts. Regardless I think the media is overreacting because the Bulls want to make moves in the offseason too.
@@ss10baby As if there's a move that they can do that will boost their title contention to 100% instantly. People should understand that only 1 team can be a champ per season 🤷.
How the front office hasn’t been fired yet is insane to me. They haven’t even made any off-season moves to get better! Like I would understand the hesitancy to blow it up if there was even an inkling of an indication there was a competitive team here, but there isn’t. The GM should have been fired so long ago at this point.
Might as well sign Demar for life. 🤦♂️ at least the Reinsdorfs are raking in the cash. To be fair, there’s no point to trading anyone for late 2nd round picks. If those picks hit, you’ve got to pay them immediately as unrestricted free agents. Lavine should have been traded last year. Now he’s got another season ending injury, and two years removed from being an allstar. That contract will be unmovable
As a Bulls fan for around 40 years, this is 100% the owner Jerry Reinsdorf. He honestly doesn't care if the Bulls are good or not. The Bulls lead the nba in attendance, and as long as fans are showing up, he's not going to rock the boat. A full rebuild means the Bulls won't be just mediocre (which they have been for 4 years) it means they will be one of the worse teams in the league. And he's afraid fans will stop showing up, hurting his bottom line. So in his logic, a mediocre team that fans pay to see has more value then a bad team that fans won't. So nothing will ever change. So us Bulls fans are stuck in basketball purgatory.
It's time to address the real problem of the Chicago Bulls -- Jerry Reinsdorf. The Bulls might, in fact, be a pretty good team if we didn't have massive injuries to Ball, Lavine, P-Will, Craig. But the fact is they are injured. When Lonzo went down for two years we should have immediately gone after a quality rental that was available (like Westbrook or Brunson or Chris Paul or Kyrie, etc) until we could reevaluate him or moved on.. We were down a super important player, but we did nothing to replace him. This season, when Zach went down for an extended period we should have started looking around for a quality replacement. When Craig went down the first time we should have immediately got a quality replacement. We were already super thin around the basket and undersized. When Zach went down a second time and was out for the season, a sense of urgency to find a replacement should have propelled acquisition of someone to replace his skill set. That same sense of urgency should have happened when P-Will went out for an extend period of time and increased to DefCon 5 when Craig went down a second time. We have a power forward problem we did not address over the summer. Craig was a great acquisition, but not enough. What I am trying to say is that 4 of our 8 best guys (Ball, Zach, Craig, P-Will) are out and we have done nothing to replace them. Nor did we really replace DJJ or Jevonte Green (who we could really use right now as we are that thin at forward). We also let Pat Bev go and got Jevon Carter instead, even though Pat Bev resurrected our season last year. Why did we let him go? He asked for two much money and once he figured out what was going on around here would have called the culprits out. Jerry operates in secrecy (secretly extending Billy is an example of that -- do you really think it was Arturas and Marc's idea to extend an unpopular coach in a furtive, unsavory, sneaky manner that they must have know would reflect back on them? I am guessing Jerry ordered them to do it that way) In the midst of all this we resigned Vuch, White and Ayo. All the while remaining under the salary cap and not even using our Ball long-term injury exception. Now what does all this mean? A lot of people have blamed the players. A lot of people have blamed Arturas and Eversely. Certainly they bear some responsibility. But the players are who they are. Everyone knew that. They give the best ofwhat skills they have, and as a player it must be pretty crushing to lose all those key pieces to injury and receive no reinforcements for them. The players are playing with heavy hearts and high anxiety. We might not have been able to win even with Ball, Zach, Craig, P-Will. But we certainly cannot win without them, and -- more importantly -- when no replacements are forthcoming. The Bulls organization claim they want to win now, but clearly they don't care that much about it, as proven by the fact that no reinforcements were forthcoming. Now we are all quick to blame Arturas and Eversley. But what if their hands were tied? What if Jerry said, "look you got Vuch, Ayo and White back, and Craig and Jevon in free agency. That's it, were done, we aren't going over the cap." Maybe they were forced to re-sign those 3 guys because Jerry was not interested in going out and testing the market, simply because they are a proven commodity that are just good enough for what Jerry has in mind. Now what does Jerry have in mind? Simply to make money. He doesn't give a shit about the Bulls (or the Sox). He just wants the cash. And he figures the team he has is enough to keep the fans hopeful and interested and fill up the seats and the advertisement and merchandise revenue flowing. The Bulls brand is still one of the most valuable in all of sports. Jerry is still profiting off Michael. Just look at Bulls Central and the rest of us on here: we have remained interested and watching the games all season. The Bulls are (for now) in the play in. Jerry knows the Bulls getting in the play in is enough to fill up seats and continue to bring in his advertising revenues. He is not willing to pay for the Superstars every team needs to get The Chip. And never has been since the Dynasty Era (Jerry Krause is underrated -- though his arrogance doomed us in the end, no other GM has been able to get any significant teams built under Reinsdorf). He is not willing to go over the salary cap for those great guys we need because that eats into his profits. Maybe when Vuch, Caruso and DeRozan were brought in, and we finally got a somewhat decent coach, he felt that was enough to keep the seats full. Maybe Arturas and Eversley were tricked into thinking those acquisitions were just the beginning, when in fact that was all Jerry was good for the whole time. Resigning guys like Zach, Ayo, White and and probably P-Will are Jerry's insurance that he will have a few decent guys to start with when Vuch, Caruso and DeRozan are gone. It can't be that Gar-Pax and now Arturas-Eversley are both guilty of the same kinds of issues: hiring shitty coaches, not acquiring proven players, poorly fitting personnel, stagnation, etc. Jerry hung on to the previous two coaches like he is hanging on to Billy. Why? Maybe the price is right, and they are at least a superficially acceptable group of coaches. Maybe Billy wants better assistants but Jerry refuses to pay for them. And Jerry knows this is not going to come out because it goes against NBA protocols of keeping everything in house. That and Jerry dangles firing them over their heads. For too long under too many administrations and too many changes in players, the Bulls have been mediocre. It has to be the system Jerry has put in place. Look what happened with Thibs. Thibs is one of the best coaches in the NBA, but as soon as he demanded accountability from Jerry he was gone. The two Jerry's were even willing to fire MJ, Phil and Scottie to maintain their total control. I felt so sorry for the guys at the end of today's Boston loss. You could see on their faces and with their body language that they feel despondent and hopeless. All Jerry cares about is the money. And as long as the Bulls are just good enough to keep the rabid fanbase interested the money is going to keep coming in at almost the same amount as if we were actually contenders, so there is no need for Jerry to move the needle. In fact it goes against his profit margin. There are two solutions to this problem: one is temporary, the other permanent. Either we boycott the games and merchandise until something changes dramatically within the organisation and we get some winning teams out there with a chance at the Finals, or Jerry gets bought out. If we boycott maybe he makes some moves and we are good for awhile, then he pulls the same shit (I know Riensdorf is old, but his sons seem cut from the same cheap, deceitful cloth). So, we need a billionaire to make him an offer he can't refuse. And in the meantime we boycott. I have been blaming the players, the coaches, the front office, but tonight I actually felt sorry for them. These are a great bunch of guys and really good basketball players, some of whom should be moved to the second team as soon as a couple genuinely Superstar players are moved in to take the reins. I don't want to see these guys go, I just want them playing behind a couple true, consistent, clutch Superstars. Deep teams win championships. Do you really want to run DeRozan out of town? He is playing the most minutes in the NBA this year, Vuch is playing the most of his career, Caruso is giving it his all, White is 100% committed on every play. I like these guys, but they need some better players they can compliment. And maybe Billy needs some better assistants. We could definitely use some better assistant coaches if Billy has to stay. I have grown to like Billy, but the obvious solution to our coaching woes is Budenholzer. However, the Bulls will never get anywhere without a new owner, or an owner that is scared of the power of his fanbase and knows he has to deliver. It's not the players fault, the team is under staffed even when healthy, and we have lost key guys to injury with no attempt to bridge their loss. I would like to see DeRozan resigned and end his career as a Bull. After all I have said it is not just about winning, but legacy. Seeing DeRozan's jersey in the rafters after another three years here would add to the Bulls legend and he would have put his imprint on countless younger guys coming up. We don't win by subtraction but addition. The Lakers are never rebuilding, the Celtics are never rebuilding. Neither is Miami. Can we really withstand more decades of rebuilding unsuccessfully? We are down on the coach and the players, but they can only work with what the front office gives them, and the front office can only do what Jerry approves. Jerry has got to go or at least be shaken to the core by our wrath. Nothing will change until this is accomplished. Same goes for the Sox and Bears -- these owners are predators preying on the fans, the players, the coaches, the front-office and the city of Chicago. The Windy City deserves better and we have the power to make it happen. Fuck Jerry. Go Bulls!
Should have traded Derozen last year trade deadline. Should have traded Zack in the off season. Should have traded Caruso and Drummand this deadline. Chicago front office are clowns
You do know that ownership isn't going to let this front office tear down the mess they have made for what they would consider mediocre assets.. They would rather run this thing into the ground first which is wild but also somewhat understandable because of the place you are usually in after tearing it down going into a weak draft class.
22 years of being a bulls fan this team only exist for profit. The owner makes so much money from being top ticket sales every season, tourist, merchandise, on top of getting compensation for Lonzo and avoiding luxury taxes. This team is not trying to be good they have never tried only pure luck with rose and landing the goat this in the eyes of the owner is a winning season. They embrace mediocrity because regardless the owners pockets are getting filled. He also owns our baseball team and shocker here they are also the embarrassment of the mlb.
Ever since the Bulls traded, I mean got fleeced by Orlando I don't even trust them to make any trades realistically. I still need the Reinsdorfs to sell the team.
Ball, lavine, derozan, caruso, drummond, jevon carter. If not injured you could've gotten AT LEAST 8 1st round picks and some good young players to build around coby white.
Agree with much of what you said but I assure you that Dallas wouldn't have picked Caruso over Washington. The Mavs wanted a four man, not another guard.
Bulls fan here. Yes, AKME hanged on way to long into that first team he assembled. Lonzo is done, its time to move on. Zach should have been traded last season's trade deadline. DeMar at summer. Now, there is s big change DeMar will walk. And that is actually ok. Bulls are at good salary cap situation. Coby contract is a bargain. Also, people should notice s leap Ayo is taking at the moment! Its not only Coby, Ayo is balling lately too.
It's a wager that Lonzo comes back and is just as good as he was before he got hurt. That team pre-injury was pretty good, and if they blow everything up it's not like they're going to get back to that level in a season or two. If Ball comes back and he's still good, this team could be pretty competitive. And if Lonzo comes back and he sucks... almost all of these trade assets (except DeRozan) are still going to be trade assets. It'll just push the rebuild back a year. But in the meantime, maybe Lonzo can still play and they're a competitive squad again. That to me is the rationale for standing pat.
Ayo, Coby, PWill, Dalen, and Julian are very solid young pieces. I think the hope is that Lonzo and Zach are both fully healthy next year. They’ll re-sign Demar most likely (probably to a lesser deal) and try to recreate that 2021 magic. I don’t think their situation is as dire as you’re making it out to be.

So they won't get as many assets as they could've gotten. Caruso is the only player worth first round draft picks...
@@brandoni241 I think their goal will be to get as much draft capital as possible without bringing back any long term salaries. DeMar will likely need the Bulls to facilitate a move to a destination of his choice because the 76ers are the only realistic landing spot for him with cap space. I'm not certain of the new CBA restrictions but I think the Bulls can stretch and waive Lonzo. Maybe Alex will be used as an attachment to get off Zach or Nikola's contract. They're already over the cap and still need to extend Demar and PWill, so their roster lacks flexibility. Knowing the front office, they will await to convey the Spurs pick next year before going out to retool / trade out those big contracts.
Not P WILLIAMS!!! HE IS A TURNOVER MACHINE! ITS UNFORTUNATE. LOW BASKETBALL IQ...... God Bless
@@Joefdgtr Thats why they were desperately trying to get off Lavine's contract, they were sort of close but New York's deal ended up being more attractive for Detroit.
You can have good vets that you aren't paying a ton of money
AK is delusional. You saw that with his post deadline presser
you dont know what teams offered the bulls for their players. and just because they made no trades doesnt mean they didnt add players. so that was pointless. the reason why competion and parity is dead in the sports is because everyone preaches championship or tank. teams making the playoffs is no longer looked at as success.
Says he doesn't need to make a cut, instantly does so at 0:51 😂
What trade could they have made to make the team a contender? The team came off a rebuild 3 years ago. You do not rebuild a team every 2 to 3 years. Why would the Chicago be the first team to do that?
3.5 games behind the 6th seed is a disaster? That’s ridiculous.
what are they gonna do with that though? probably lose in the play in, and almost guaranteed 1st round exit if they even make the playoffs. Very little young talent and being stuck in mediocrity won't give you talent in the draft that really moves the needle. Best move is to just blow it up

toronto deff didn't overvalue their players. just look at what happened with OG and the knicks when given a defined role and is surrounded by an honest to god good point guard.. he was deff worth what masai was asking for. and pascal is a weird situation because he's a 30 y.o proven #2 on a championship calibre team but given the new cba rules, maybe not deserving of a new max contract. but pacers deemed he was and raps got 3 frp's for it. masai already explained his reasoning as to why both players weren't traded last year. people need to move on
Demar in Chicago is just a similar situation when he was in San Antonio
lol. it seem like the media and Podcasters want the bulls to give away their players for nothing and go into ANOTHER rebuild. they just want somthing to talk about. the bulls record show they are better then half the league. so a disaster is a stretch. just say you mad because teams you like could use some of the players the bulls have. 20 teams in the nba are going nowhere. so trading just to trade is stupid.

Bulls WORST ORGANIZATION NOW 😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😅😂😅😂😅😂😂
The Bulls made a management change in 2021, only for the new guys to be the same as the old regime.
He's not a star. He'd be a solid reserve on a good team. You're not winning anything if Coby freaking white is starting.
Bulls are stuck in purgatory. Not good enough to contend. Not bad enough for a lottery pick. 😂
As a bulls fan I was happy to see you make a vid about my team then I read the title....
Glad to see some level headed fans still exist
He always talkin mess like the nets not in a shitty situation. Its hilarious😂 No superstars ever coming to the Nets.
How the front office hasn’t been fired yet is insane to me. They haven’t even made any off-season moves to get better! Like I would understand the hesitancy to blow it up if there was even an inkling of an indication there was a competitive team here, but there isn’t. The GM should have been fired so long ago at this point.
The Bulls owe a 2025 top 10 protected pick to the Spurs, I wonder if that’s enough to incentivize them to tank next year
Might as well sign Demar for life.
Dude Caruso Is a player EVERY team wants! Why tf would you ever trade him away when that's what your looking for!!!
Ownership needs to sell the team
it’s not even ownership, the owners gave the front office permission to tear the team down
@@greatgreenteaDon't believe that. They say what he tells them to say.

I alse though about it🫣, but at least rn I'm hopeful about the future with the new front office
Would seem that they believe that Lonzo Ball can return, and if he does that they might have something.
Fuck Jerry. Go Bulls!
Some analyst said they’re a family owned team like the lakers and would rather be mid over tanking ik it sucks but it kinda makes sense
As a bulls fan. I'm just tired of them not doing what's needed. A rebuild that is.
It is just rick owners being content with their money and not wanting to change what works.

It just comes down to ownership preferring middle(to bottom) of the pack instead of rebuild

Blowing it up, tanking this season, and building around White and Williams should have been the move. AK is content with mediocrity after all
WILLIAMS IS FREAKING TERRIBLE!!! TURNOVER MACHINE THAT NEVER ENDS!!!
Hard to feel bad for a fanbase that publicly and posthumously booed the GM who built all of their championship teams.
The GM is sending a signal that it's a Coaching problem.
Too much talent to be this bad. Even with the Lonzo injury. Zach injury buries their season.
As a Raptors fan, thank you Chicago for being stubborn against rebuilding.
Good luck paying immanuel quickley. Toronto has some choices of it’s own to make
Or maybe the players don't have value around the league.

@@brandoni241 I think their goal will be to get as much draft capital as possible without bringing back any long term salaries. I'm not certain of the new CBA restrictions but I think the Bulls can stretch and waive Lonzo. Maybe Alex will be used as an attachment to get off Zach or Nikola's contract.
