@@SimpleFlips I think everyone who searches for uncleared gets the same results. So all the levels that haven't been touched for a year get tons of players at the same time.
+William S Not necessarily. For a while, the way Simple looked for uncleared levels got him mostly recently uploaded levels. You can also search by difficulty AND clear rate.

The 9 second level excursion reminds me of the good ol days when simple would fine a potential blj in a room hack and spend upwards of an hour on it.

From the cocky way you play this game You can really tell "this guy is a falco main in melee". Love it.
13:14 you had to stand on the thwomp and jump into the pipe from on top of the thwomp so the secret blocks don't get activated. There was probably a dev path up there that you totally missed

I can only imagine the editor sitting through unedited footage, then being completely curious as to why Toadette is crouching on a on/off switch, for more than a minute.

I have come to the conclusion that Simple would hella schmoove if he ever did a Sonic. I mean, it's a game series built around optimizing a very specific route.

He’s played it, he apparently doesn’t really like them, which I can feel. It’s movement isn’t anywhere near as sophisticated as Mario’s.
@@sptflcrw8583 I feel that, although I prefer Sonic's context sensitive gameplay, Mario leaves a stronger first impression as he isn't asking you to die and memorize things. Instead, Mario simply asks if you understand the movement.

@@GirlLove4Ever I’m not gonna speak for him, but personally, the reason I prefer Mario is because while Sonic does definitely have awesome stages, it’s movement is often much less sophisticated than Mario’s is. There are so many methods of movement in Mario, long jumps, slide kicks, rolls, b-hops, speed kicks, dive rollouts, belly slides, etc. Sonic’s moveset in comparison is a lot smaller.
I can’t recall the specific instance, but I know he’s mentioned it once or twice on Twitter and on one of his older Mario 64 contest VODS. I believe it was the Megaman one, although I might be wrong.
@Sptflcrw I could see that being the case for Simple, but even then I for one still hold some hope he may find an interest in the series' more technical games like the Adventures or Generations, of which while not having the same subtle nuances in control as the 16-bit titles, still have themselves quite deep tech to their respectively wide movesets, of which have a very much fascinating utility in terms of speedrunning to my understanding.

"Pacifist run (Keys=bad)" has huge cheese potential. Before entering the pipe with fire flowers on top, you can do a triple jump and spam twirls WITH a key to get into the key box and skip straight to the end.

i'm so mad you completed that level so fast. i believe the pipe at the bottom eventually leads to an underwater section where you suffer waiting for a thwomp to slowly smash through 20+ bricks and it just leads to a dead end. i tried it about 4 times before giving up, i didn't even realize there was a second pipe

I’m really loving the consistent upload schedule lately. Keep it up! (And if you need a break don’t feel guilty about it
Forced key doors you can cheese, because all you have to do is avoid pressing up while on the ground (usually you can do a small jump, and then press up). However, in 3D world, you now have key blocks, which you enter by simply touching the box, no button press needed! So it is pretty easy to make an un-cheesable setup, by just putting a key block at a choke point in the level, like they did in the video. Just make sure there is no path around the choke point. :)

In the third level (the speedrun one), if the hidden pipe actually goes anywhere, you should be able to enter it by riding on top of the thwomp.

That key level was insanely cheesable. That one time you long jumped to the right you saw the key block on the other side of the trap, which is on top of the flag and it was totally reachable.
