I rode my bike by Rouge Hill station last weekend. One of the great things is that the eastbound tracks have an exit right onto the lakeside trail. Awesome!
Rouge Hill is my favorite GO station. The scenery around there is lovely, and those of us who live in Durham know that we are almost home when we pass Rouge Hill.
Hopefully the massive construction work at Rutherford GO makes a station that is worthy of one of your videos… Spring 2022 completion with a bridge that allows pedestrians and cars to travel more efficiently over the tracks, new bus loops and new bike connections. They built a huge 1200 space parade at the station though, should that have been built underground?
@@RMTransit Of course, that kinda went over my head, just like how underground transit costs hundreds of millions more than above ground, yet the new Etobicoke transit lines will be underground for no good reason…
If you don't know about it, you should look up Wondabyne station in New South Wales :) It think it's one of the most unique stations in the world (that's frequently serviced), single door platform and boat access only.
To be honest, the title is a bit misleading. The surroundings are indeed beautiful, the station less so (although it seems to be a pretty decent suburban station nonetheless) :P
@@RMTransit Well, yeah, it is one of the possible looks on the topic. For me personally though the nicest station is more something like Canary Wharf or Antwerpen Centraal, with the surroundings being a separate thing ;)
What a nice and peaceful station!! Nothing too fancy and unnecessary. I love the views on the lake, I have a thing for stations next to the sea, the lakes or even rivers! I was thinking of making "station reviews" in my channel too but I'm afraid my English are very good and people will cringe a lot on that part and miss the point :/
If this is the most beautiful station in Toronto, Toronto needs to try harder. Admittedly the lake view and trails are nice, but I wouldn't really say that's part of the station design. Perhaps it's more true to say it's the nicest destination in Toronto?
@@RMTransit Eh....not really. You can have a beautiful station in an ugly place and an ugly station in a beautiful place in my view. Yes they affect each other, but they're not the same.
You mentioned the electric buses in the video. Is there a reason why TTC spent so much for battery powered buses from China rather than Canadian-built trolley buses that would cost less?
FYI you had showed Vaughn Metropolitan Centre station and you but Toronto in brackets. That's incorrect because Vaughn Metropolitan Centre is in Vaughn Ontario not Toronto so you need to get your locations right
What makes the building look good is that's it's symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing. This is in contrast to giant glass and steel blobs, which are incredibly ugly and will age horribly.
Nice B-roll over the Rouge river bridge, I miss living here

The nostalgia, I miss living right next to this station
Wow, a national park right next to a huge urban area? That is some pretty great planning and conservation.
Station Focus is my favourite series. Keep-up the good work.
I remember loving to watch GO and Via trains pass over that bridge when I went to that park as a kid

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Hello from Kansas 🇺🇸
Hello back from Ontario. :)

Underground is only going to be financially possible if you do a development at the same time I think
@@RMTransit Of course, that kinda went over my head, just like how underground transit costs hundreds of millions more than above ground, yet the new Etobicoke transit lines will be underground for no good reason…
One of the few GO stations I've used. Can't wait for the electrification.
great video
Awesome it’s back!!!!!!!
Plan to go here on my birthday
Will you cover Bloomington GO station when it opens?
Yeah!
If you don't know about it, you should look up Wondabyne station in New South Wales :) It think it's one of the most unique stations in the world (that's frequently serviced), single door platform and boat access only.

I think the station and the surroundings are kind of connected haha, the surroundings are part of the station!

6:03 "Rouge hill is an awesome GO station" the first time around i heard it as "... awesome ghost station" 😄
How are GO trains fare work??
Is it by the distance?
Yep!
@@RMTransit Is it expensive?
@@Pulpswo i belive the most expensive is 20 something like from union to Niagara
That is a very big parking lot, how many people are using this station on a daily basis?
I'm not sure if it fills up during pre Covid times, cars are very space inefficient!
I live in the area. it gets filled up pretty full pre-pandemic.
That lot gets decently full on normal weekends.
Since I live near TTC Finch West station in Toronto, can you do a station focus on Finch West?
You completely missed the fact this is the transfer station to UTSC.
Every morning there are pickup trucks idling in the wheelchair spots barring permit-holders from using them.
If this is the most beautiful station in Toronto, Toronto needs to try harder. Admittedly the lake view and trails are nice, but I wouldn't really say that's part of the station design. Perhaps it's more true to say it's the nicest destination in Toronto?
I see them as sort of one and the same
@@RMTransit Eh....not really. You can have a beautiful station in an ugly place and an ugly station in a beautiful place in my view. Yes they affect each other, but they're not the same.
@@mdhazeldine Toronto's most scenic station would be more appropriate title. The station itself is nothing to look at.
You might find it useful to look at the channel "Luftschlange". The gentleman behind that channel no longer makes videos, but he was very good at it.
Really? I take the go train there almost everyday but only the location is nice there
You mentioned the electric buses in the video. Is there a reason why TTC spent so much for battery powered buses from China rather than Canadian-built trolley buses that would cost less?
Trolley buses aren't going to cost less, but we did buy some Canadian buses too
@@RMTransit aren't the cost of ownership of batteries much higher than wire maintenance?
Definitely don't think so

If that's the most beautiful station in Toronto, then the rest must be pretty crappy....sheesh
I think he means the scenery of the surrounding neighbourhood of the lakeside parks and trails and definitely not the station's architecture.
Multi level carpark is needed. Underground will flood.
Not sure about that
