The reason the nuclear power plant went online so smoothly is that the U.S. government got the green light for a confirmed AGI timeline, especially with the release of the o1 model.
OpenAI stated: 'We have found that the performance of o1 consistently improves with more reinforcement learning (train-time compute) and with more time spent thinking (test-time compute).'
This means the U.S. government has solid proof of AGI progress and is in a race to become the first nation to achieve it, competing against China and Russia. Whatever Illya saw or whatever they're working with internally is likely far more advanced than the current models. And for that, they need more power!
What a time to be alive, man.

      Occam's razor.
You don't have to jump that far. Blackwell servers take 200KW per rack. Just serving up the existing customers.
For comparison a typical web/data server rack takes 10-15kw or up to 50 on the high side for ultra high density servers

I wish they had used completely different individuals to create more distinct voices, but it doesn’t seem like that’s the case. It feels more like a gimmick. Additionally, it’s quite limited in functionality, it can’t check the internet or offer much flexibility in usage. Right now, it feels more like a superficial feature rather than something truly useful.

"🙏 Remember, remember the 17th of October,
The voice that speaks, a tech to uncover.
    ;)
Whispers shall rise on the 24th day,
A soft murmur, paving the way.
But mark the date when the veil is torn,
A sound unheard since the day it was born.
From silence it springs, with power and might,
October’s full bloom will give voice to the night.

    • @davidbayliss3789
      @davidbayliss3789 Месяц назад

I don't know much about it but I believe China has been testing molten salt thorium-uranium fuel cycle.
I looked at Goldman Sach's May article on AI energy use, today (just popped up as a Bing result) and it suggested as an estimate 2024 [US] Data Centre energy consumption due to AI would be about 11TWh. (I think it'll be more now - outpacing estimates). That's vs 165TWh Data Centre consumption (in the US) for non-AI. Chat GPT worked that out to require a power supply of 1.26GW (actually not a huge amount more ... 40%/50% ish - than I understand the capacity of the Three Mile Island power station to be).
But I always try to put this into perspective ... e.g. China deploying 10GW of solar/wind every fortnight. In just one fortnight they deploy enough that together with hydro & other batteries etc. ought to be able to supply a couple of GW of continuous demand with some reliability I would have thought.
And that's accelerating. But if my wild estimations are in any way in the right ball park, then in 1-year, China could deploy enough electricity generation to power (at current US efficiencies) maybe more than 26x the amount of AI compute in the US in 2024.
I'm just doing sums on mental fingers lol - maybe I'm wildly incorrect. Confused.
But I just try to look at it all with a bit perspective.

That running bot is from like 10 years ago. It's on a pole, so the camera angle is deceiving. The reason it never took off is because it doesn't work at without being held up by a rod from behind. LoL. They also had a quadruped on that was much better. Fast running quadrupeds are definitely a possibility, but flying drones just get more value per watt. So running AI controlled machines probably won't be the height of the nightmare.

"The term "Blood God" is often associated with various cultural and mythological traditions, but one of the most popular modern references comes from the fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000. In this context, the Blood God is known as Khorne, one of the four Chaos Gods, representing violence, rage, and bloodshed. Khorne's followers are often brutal warriors who thrive on combat, and they chant the infamous battle cry: "Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!"
Khorne epitomizes the destructive aspects of war, driven by a desire for endless conflict and slaughter. However, unlike other Chaos Gods who may represent manipulation or excess, Khorne has a more straightforward philosophy: strength and victory through combat, with no tolerance for weakness or cowardice."
