@@AmblingTrails We did the walk last weekend. Wet but good anyway. We started 90 minutes later than planned as the road running along the lake is closed to traffic for repairs (we approached from Cockermouth direction). This meant a big diversion to get to our start point.
That's certainly worth knowing, thanks for sharing. Will try to pin your comment at the top, so other might read if they are thinking of doing the route. Cheers
Thank you for sharing! I'm a Lowes and my great, great, great, grandfather came to Canada in 1827. I've never seen the area where my ancestors immigrated from- so this is MUCH appreciated. 🙏❤️
Oooh. Another video to watch! Still on the Dales Way walk, myself. Found the most amazing wild camp spot last night, just after the bridge at Beckermonds. Along the river bank, behind a wall, just off the trail. As i was setting up two Army Apache helicopters flew directly overhead at about 200ft, awesome site & sound. Called in at Buckden store later this morning for a few supplies. Nice Cornish Pasties! Decided to stay a day or two at the campsite across the road from the store to get a few things clean, seeing as the weather is so glorious and make use of The Buck Inn 😍.
Sounds Awesome! You've certainly landed well with the weather. Love the background detail your giving, I can really visualise where you're at. Starting the Snowdonia Way tomorrow. Have a great adventure. Cheers
Just watched the video. Those views from the top..WOW! Making me want to head back to the lakes after reaching Ilkley :) I literally left the train at Winderemere and headed straight for the start/finish of the Dales Way.
Looks a lovely walk. How did you get back to your car at Loweswater Hall after the field of Buttercups at the end of your video, as the Eastern side of the lake shows only a road and no footpaths?
Yes it’s a really nice walk and a part of the Lakes still undiscovered by many. Although the map only shows road on the eastern side of the lake, on the ground quite often you can find a footpath following the lakeshore. However, when you come out of the Buttercup field, turn right which will take you on to the road but walking wise you are away from any traffic as there is about space for 20 ish cars. Only about 50 metres onwards from there is the lay-by that I was parked in. Hope you get the opportunity to discover the joys of this area. Thanks for watching and if you need further info happy to help. Cheers Nigel
My apologies. I got confused where you started froom bur a second viewing of the video clarified!!
😁👍🏼No problem, I still enjoyed reliving the moment! As I said, hope you get chance to visit. ATB
