    New to Obsidian. 2 days in. I've added the WEB bible through Joschua's Bible Study Kit. I found this on Obsidian Forums. For those who don't know, there is more in the Forum for using the Bible in Obsidian.
    Thank you both for helping around the learning curve. God bless.
    I don't see Obsidian replacing my Logos software for notes and research on Scripture, but I certainly want a Bible in Obsidian. As I use it I may change my mind. Still early days. (I am a retired pastor, but still active in counseling, teaching, preaching, some of which I do on my YT channel (about six months old)
    I do not know programming. What you provide here sometimes goes over my head... language/context mainly...yet I seem to manage. Appreciating all your doing for us.
    Looking forward to using LYT to expand my knowledge and use of Obsidian.

    I've recently come across the whole second-brain, zettelkasten, MOC idea and decided to start using Obsidian very recently. I'm honestly a little overwhelmed with all of the possibilities and capabilities the software has and all the different possible ways of using it. I've been in search of a way to do Bible study in a way that better suits my personality - I'm fairly certain I'm also ADHD, so I need a way to store my brain outside of my brain. This is incredible and overwhelmingly useful. Thank you so much! I'm so glad to see that there are other Christ followers seeking Him through knowledge and praying for wisdom through their own note-taking system. This is truly incredible! Thank you all so much for your work ☺

    Hi Nick, this is phenomenal. I started watching Linking Your Thinking primarily to do notes on Bible Study and Apologetics and did not expect a video directly related to the topic.

    Thanks for sharing your system breakdown Joschua. I really like seeing your set up. I really like the idea of adding an overview and big narratives for each book before getting into verses.

    Thank you thank you thank you so much for all your work with this!!! Iv'e been searching high and low for a solution and going over different ways to make software to chart the interconnectivity of the Bible. I found Obsidian a couple months ago and was releived to see its features, but I was still trying to figure out the best way to bring the Bible into Obsidian to reference in the ways Obsidian allows you to. You saved me so much learning, time and work with this!! Thank you so much!

    Thanks Joschua... just discovering this. It really is a good system. However, my impression is that different use cases for Obsidian require different solutions. So, when it comes to the Bible, I feel that having inline notes, that won't disturb the flow of reading is better, than merely having links. So, in my case I use Admonition, which can sit beneath a verse and folds away nicely, unless one wants to do a deep dive. In that way, the flow of consciousness, does not meet any surface friction, by having to open up backlinks, then jumping away from the verse and then having to go back to the verse.
    I think I'm going to adopt your MOCs and try to integrate my method of inline note-taking with it. But again, thanks for sharing your views.

    Obsidian's graph view has been a way of viewing ideas in my mind for about 8 months, glad that I found it in a day!! Also find there is Christian using it! Taking it that far already! God's timing, I would say! Very interesting!

    This is amazing. I've been trying to implement something like this for nearly a year, first in Roam and now Obsidian. This has been a breakthrough.
    Related: Any good resources on how you format your workspace? It looks like you had notes overlapping left to right that would expand as you focused on them. And you have indexes on the left and active notes further right? That seems to make good sense.

    I downloaded his Bible kit. It's pretty awesome so far.
    I did spend several hours removing the links of the bible chapters to each other though. They're unnecessary and they clutter up the graph quite a bit.

    • @linkingyourthinking
      @linkingyourthinking  2 года назад +1

      I'm glad you're enjoying Joschua's kit and it's really great that you've customized it to your own linking preferences within Obsidian. We all process information differently so that adaptability within Obsidian really shines in situations like these.

    • @suburbanyute340

      @@linkingyourthinking yeah, i'm having a lot of fun with Obsidian. at this point i do as much tweaking and refining of my workflow as i do studying. trying to standardize the format of my notes so i spend less time looking for the info and more time using it.
      watching the graph evolve as connections get made and notes get created gives an almost tangible quality to the learning process which is incredible and addictive.

    His notes seem to be really organized (which is one of the reasons why I'm considering Roam over Obsidian) Is it complicated to be able to achieve this level of order , I mean...do I need to learn how to code or something of the kind?

    • @linkingyourthinking
      @linkingyourthinking  3 года назад +2

      Hard to answer. But you don't need to be able to code. I can't

    • @joschua_4231
      @joschua_4231 3 года назад

      I think Obsidian works for all level of organisation. Coding helps with creating templates to keep things the same but it's not required. Just use it how you like it!

    Hola!!! Muy interesante. Tengo algunas notas de videos de temas bíblicos (Fe, Apocalipsis, San Marcos) que se quedan en mis cuadernos. En su momento fueron reflexiones muy inspiradoras pero se han quedado olvidadas. Ustedes saben que al leer la palabra las conexiones entre un libro y otro se van dando y a mi me gustaría tener una forma de "ver" ese proceso y poder enriquecer lo que con el tiempo espero pueda ser un pequeño curso bíblico. Necesito ayuda. ¿Alguien habla español?
    Mil gracias por el video.
