Hi David, since you advised me to go for a Rockwell some months back, I did, and have confirmed it's beauty and excellence. On Rockwell R3 plate my head shaves are perfect, and the same on my face is so good compared to other razors I have tried. My target is now to have a collection of a high end brass razor, and a bronze razor. I always watch your videos for your great tutorials and reviews that improve my own shaving experience. Thank you so much. Keep it up!👍🏾👍🏾
Always loved my Variant but always been curious about the Rockwell as well (but not curious enough to spend $60 when I already have so many razors that do the job), glad you've found what works best for you. And I always love the quality of sound recording in your videos, it's so satisfying to hear all the whiskers screaming for mercy.
Just got into wet shaving about a month ago. I saw an add for a henson al13 and it made good sense so I bought the mild one. I feel like sometimes I want a more aggressive shave but also want it to be smooth. I was on the fence between 6c and Parker and this video made up my mind. I used your link to get the 6c. Thanks for all the info. New sub!
I really like the Parker Variant but I've learned to never go over setting 2. For me, I find it quite aggressive. I usually start off with 1.5 and then go to 1 but I'll start with 2 for the first pass if I have a lot of growth. Also, I recently started using shave oil as a pre-shave (thanks to you) and just love it. Prior to that, my favorite pre-shave was the Cube 2.0.
I have both razor. The Variant was my go to after the threading on the top cap of my Merkur Progress started to be an issue. The Rockwell are so forgiving that its easy to be overenthusiatic and work to hard. Have the 6S to and like the heft.
I’d be interested in seeing a comparison video of different kinds of blades. Maybe just explain how each one performs and what it’s best use would be? It seems like there’s a ton of options for blades and I’m having a hard time understanding which ones get used for what applications. You make fantastic videos, I’ve benefited greatly as someone who is trying to learn. Thank you.
Coming soon. I have been working on this video for a couple of months. Blade s do make a huge difference on Quality of shave you're going to get with different razors with different blade gaps with different angles. Thanks for your support Tyler.
@@OhioShavesanother question. If you have a full beard and want to use safety razors to just keep your cheeks and neck edged up, would you still get the whole getup of brushes and soap and all that? Or just use some kind of shave gel or something similar that’s easier to control where it goes in those small areas? Thanks.
@@OhioShaves oh yeah, that would be too kind. I have kept three razors in my wishlist if I could ever win in a giveaway - Rockwell 6C/S of course (first in line), Thorn by Leaf and perhaps the third one would have to be a gamechanger 0.84 (so many clones of it around though). I was sent a sample of Sterling Executive man and A&E cognac by someone who kindly won. Have you tried the two amongst soaps? They were brilliant (in my opinion and limited experience of trying Tallow based soaps).
I don't have a variant but i do have the Rockwell 6C, everyone can see the Rockwell moves smoother over you're whiskers, than the Parker Variant does..Rockwell razor are great! You just can't go wrong with them, so enjoyable to use !😁👍 You defiantly give you're razor"s a work out!!
I’ve had the Rockwell for like 5 months and no blade cuts well in it. I’ve had the variant for 2 shaves and each one better than the last and so smooth.
I agree with you with the rockwell vs the parker. My parker variant collects dust in my den. If i have heavy beard growth, i'll use the 6s with either the 5 plate or the 6 plate and it is much smoother with far less irritation (at least on my skin). I tend to have the a lot of mild razors and keep the rockwell on either 5 or 6 should i skip shaving for a few days, otherwise it would be a rotation of hensons, high proof, era, or razorock .68
I bought a Parker Variant a little over 3 years ago. I loved it for a couple years. All of a sudden, in the middle of shaving my head, one side started pulling hair and not cutting. The other side was shaving just fine. I had shaved with the blade only once before. I fiddled around with it and found that it wasn't the blade. Something was causing one side to be off. I decided it was soap scum buildup. I ended up putting it in a vinegar solution and that seemed to fix it, for a little over a year. Two nights ago, it started pulling my hair instead of cutting again. I put it in the vinegar solution again and when I put it back together, the piece you clamp the blade onto broke off. Now, the razor is loose as a goose. It's done. I will never buy another DE razor with moving parts. I had an Amazon type butterfly DE razor before and it was terrible. I couldn't shave without cutting my head multiple times. It finally broke. I think it's too easy for soap scum to mess things up. I just ordered a Rockwell 6s since it has no moving parts like a butterly opening or adjustment knob. I like the fact that you have the interchangeable blocks and the clamp screws down in the handle. There are no springs, bushings, etc. to go bad. I'm hoping the stainless razor will last the rest of my life.

@@OhioShaves My Rockwell arrived today. It seems much better made than my Parker Variant. It shaves WAY better than the Variant too. The difference is amazing. The Rockwell is so smooth. I started with a brand new blade with the 1 block. It wasn't near aggressive enough and I flipped to the 3. It did pretty good. I tried the 4 and it seems perfect. The Variant always left small cuts around my ears when shaving my head with a brand new blade. The Rockwell didn't. I found I could be more aggressive with it.
