- Chipotle is one of the most popular Mexican-style food chains in the U.S. A series of food-borne illness incidents starting in 2015 caused the fast-casual chain to plummet. With new executive management and improved operations, Chipotle engineered a major turnaround and a stock price at an all-time high.

How Chipotle Bounced Back After Food Safety Scares
Which fast casual restaurant should we look at next? Let us know in the comments below.
Can you please make a video about Dairy Queen?

Nandos and Wagamama! Even though you don't have it in the US...
This is karma for charging extra for guac
G G 😆
G G 😂😂😂
😂
0:52 this worker is making guac without any cut glove or sanitary glove. Then they go on about how chipotle is getting better (I use to work there and we used gloves for every single thing unlike in this video)
Ima just saying, if you were to make it yourself it would cost about the same or it would cost more, so extra for guaco isn’t really bad, just saying
Probably cause most fast food can’t even support bacterial life.
LOL 👌
Your dumb ass has not eaten there, evidently.
@@Synistercrayon he's probably joking
LOL, so true.
This is actually true, i made an experiment once where i bought a Mcdonalds cheeseburger and let it rest outside the fridge for like 3 months. It didnt rott, no mold, nothing. It just went hard like a rock. When even bacteria dont wanna eat it why should we? (Our digestive system is full of bacteria)
so actually they never solved the food safety problem
They have added steps to improve the food safety. Like having tomatoes pre cut in bags for example
They did solve the food safety issue. Food safety is #1 priority for employees.
Lilith Rose you know it! Food safety is always #1!
Yes. Chipotle has improved their sanitation A LOT. Cleanliness is taken very seriously now.
Chipotle was the first fast food restaurant and only fast food job I’ve ever done. I’m glad cause I know plenty of fast food workers who will never eat at their fast food establishments due to its unsatisfactory sanitation. I will definitely eat at Chipotle because it was so damn clean!
I stop eating there when i realize i can meal prep 5-6 similar meals for the price of one chicken burrito bowl.
kira yamato Please can you share your recipe & where you get your food from?
@@stephenayeni992 its litterally just rice, beans, protein, lettuce, corn, cheese, tomatoe... Shop at a local ethnic grocery for cheap veg, meat, rice
kira yamato thanks Boss
The convenience is what ur paying for
A Chicken Bowl at Chipotle is 8.10 and with guacamole 10.53 but still its convenient
The vegetable processing plant I work for carried Chipotle's diced tomato business for 2 years. We built a brand new state-of-the-art processing room and utilized incredibly strict sanitation standards (still do) in how the tomatoes were handled from the time they were unloaded from the trucks that delivered them to our plant all the way through to the final product being loaded onto out-going trucks. The Chipotle contract was not renewed at the end of the original 2-year agreement. The plant sure misses the contract, but we are using that multi-million dollar processing department on a daily basis to supply a number of customers with diced tomatoes, peppers, onions, carrots and cabbage products that are produced in a state-of-the-art processing department using extremely tight sanitation and safety standards.

We just not gonna talk about he isn't using gloves when touching that burger? I've done fast food and that's a huge no.
@Blackpilled Saint Are you ok? that isnt chipotle the time stamp shows.
Crushforty
His hands are sanitary, fool.
@Blackpilled Saint have you ever eaten at chipotle...
"Chipotle is bouncing back , despite a foodbourne illness case that sickened hundreds" I started laughing out loud, like come on Chipotle fix your biggest issue please
lol!!!
LMAO RIGHT
Yes! Still making people sick
It wasn't the restaurant that was at fault, but the protein suppliers. Just like McDonald's wasn't at fault for the romain lettuce poisoning (that I also suffered from) because of tainted produce from Yuma, AZ. Having what felt like explosive and never ending gas which also caused severe back pain that I had to take nearly 4g of ibuprofen to just to sleep was hell. Of course, I kept eating the salads because in my mind, how could a salad be unhealthy? I assumed it was other things until my mum forwarded a CNN article about the problem.
lmao its the cleanest place you could eat, like come on have none of you worked at any other fast food chain? Ive seen stores with mold inside their walk-ins, roach infestation, literally employees working even if they vomit during their shift🙄
lol i remember being so happy after the outbreak because chipotle was basically empty every time I went, compared to waiting 30 minutes in a long ass line
it never actually bothered me that chipotle had made hundreds i’ll, the only reason why i stopped eating there because they add excess sodium to much of it
As long as ur active the sodium isn’t bad for u
@@DangerClose805 he might have high blood pressure. But it's true, you could have 5g of salt a day and be fine if you exercise a lot.
Ask them if they have lite or low salt option. It uses potassium in mix with sodium
Why does it matter? you are already eating Junk anyway.
Low iq?
Idk the lines were never the same
After that at my local chipotle still to this day
Chipotle has more sales than ever before.
Uber eats, Doordash, Postmates have all helped.
ShortTheWorld really? Lines are still slow at my local chipotle
hollywood 899 that’s because all those services mentioned are DELIVERY... why waste time standing in line when someone can bring it to you.
@@Eugenepanels Maybe the customer base in your area is unfairly being unforgiving about the situation or being petty. The rest of the nation seems to have moved on and it's business as usual.
If your local Chipotle closes, it prolly means your area doesn't deserve to have one and another area does deserve one. No one outside of your area will even care if that happens.
I like the taste of the food but they always serve too little meat.
Disagree
Facts

Aurum12HM meat is expensive so they put less in it to save money
NOT true
I know exactly why so many people got sick. My friend worked there for one day because she was hired to be a cashier, but instead, they made her cook without any form of food safety training.
Just to be clear, neither Chipotle or Taco bell are real mexican food. Also I'm glad they added a second assembly lines since having worked at chipotle. I remember customers often had to wait for their online order when we used to get really busy at the store.
actually both are, what you mean is authentic
@@jeycalc6877 that isn't mexican food 💀
@@ricardo_valadez yes it is. Same way olive garden is Italian
I loved going to chipotle during all that. No lines and they’d give you more food. I went 2/3 times a week lol
sneakerjoe23 same, ate there damn near every day during the whole ecolipocalypse.
Simple. The food is good. Also the lines at my local chipotle go out the door relatively
I got food poisoning from this company two years ago a day before Christmas. I will forever boycott this company.
Sucks, the day before opening gifts...
Because they didn’t hire TheOddonestout
#boycotchipotlebecausetheydidnthirejameslike3yearsago
Well I don't think they want to hire a hypocrite that brings controversy with him anyway
Damn i wish I was of age back then. The stocks on these would have me set forever.
Everyone’s hindsight is 20/20 lol
Go keep sum bitcoins👩🦳😄
No excuses king will always be another opportunity
They opened a Chipotle in my town right before this happened. (Within a year I think) And it closed down not long after. I've still never ate at a Chipotle.
Your loss
some of the best quality videos on all of youtube, thank you
I did stop eating at Chipotle for about 2 years, started eating it again and now I’m addicted again. It’s just so simple and good, can’t help it.
Same here. It is SO good. I ordered it at least once a week during the 2020 lockdown. I live in Germany now, and Chipotle is literally the only thing I miss in the US.
Only ever had one issue with Chipotle, and it was before the e coli bacteria.
I went into a store in south Florida and when I got to the second station, the sneeze shields were missing. Then the customer in front of me, who was sniffling, reached over the food to grab his burrito. I quietly called this to the attention of the manager, who shrugged it off. I left without food. Annoyed, I called the area manager and told her what happened. She too made it seem that missing shields was part of the business, but offered me a free meal. I told her that I was very shocked at the whole thing and that a call to the health inspectors office was in order. This happened only months before their outbreak. Not that this was or was not part of it, the health safety issue sure was not a priority for the company.
We've only started going back a few years ago
People aren't ready to give up Chipotle yet.
11:35 the dude PUTTING UP THE "CHIPOTLE IS CLOSED" SIGN LOOKS SO SAD AHAHAHA
Shim Sham ☹️🌯
It's so sad but the way you're saying it is hilarious lolol
Yup.Never seen anybody felt so defeated like that
Aww probably lost his job
No one gunna talk about the look on that man's face at 11:35 ??? He looks so sad putting up that sign lol
Wagie Wagie get back in your cagie
I’m glad CNBC released this episode. I have been wondering this for years.
I love your reports guys, just make narrative sound higher plz 👍🏼
I tried chipotle for the first time and the second time I love it this is new to me in 2020
New to vids. Love how recent it is
No thanks I’ll stick with the real Mexican food tacos al pastor con salsa verde y una coca.
Bryan Ricarte 🔥
I like both. They are different and variety is the spice of like.
yumm
dank
Tony Zan not real Mexican
I would still eat there all the time if they didn’t get rid of soft corn tortillas it’s just not the same
Ion like those lol
I've gone into that restaurant by DU a number of times. I knew it was old, but I didn't know it was the first one.
@Jacob Dawson I don't at all consider that food garbage. It's very high in calories and obviously if you eat too much of it and don't exercise then you'll get fat and have complications from being obese. I was actually sponsored by a Chipotle when I trained in Milwaukee (the manager's choice, not so much the corp because quite a few were franchised) and there was also a nurse who skated with us competitively and I think he would've warned us if the food was that bad. I loved free burritos! Most of the risk of the restaurant chain were protein suppliers who had problems with e.coli contamination. Chipotle wasn't the only one, but it was hit the hardest.
Pretty crazy. I go to the University of Denver and I didn't even know the local Chipotle is the first one until after I got here.
Lol fascinating
Their food has gotten a lot more expensive! and yet they charge extra for guac!
I didn’t go to Chipotle for 3 years. Just started going back again.
Both Chipotle and Chick-fil-a have been my two favorite fast food chains I’ve never gotten sick from chipotle unless I pour a lot of Tabasco Chipotle hot sauce on my burrito bowl
thegaygaymerchannel
In-In-Out is in California, not nationwide.
And your point?
Johny Marcial There are a few In-N-Out locations here in Dallas, Texas.
Chipotle is nasty
So your white you do like taste
8:02 there's a bug flying over the guy's head XD
I was there in Boston when Chipotle was getting people sick. I started going to Qdoba and that’s been my spot since. Chipotle definitely lost out on my business
I'm from Canada. I really WISH they had a loyalty program here.
I live in Canada, and I love Chipotle, it's definitely great quality at least here. Their guacmole is just heaven.
How is quesada compared to Chipotle?
leanator7 I guess you never ate real Mexican food
@@alfredoalcantar8691 completely off topic. Why are you even watching a Chipotle video?
Video starts at 8:32 for those who don’t need context
real mvp
Lmao who says "Yeah an 8 minute intro is a great idea Ted, we should definitely do that"
I'm not making excuses because unfortunately some chipotle locations did give people food poisoning. However, my comment is for those of you commenting down below about getting stomach aches after eating chipotle in present day. You guys do realize that beans cause bloating and gas? Explanation #1 for stomach aches. This includes more stomach irritation if you ask for salsa because some people's digestive system can't handle the spiciness. Also, maybe some of you can't handle gluten. 🙄
Haven't stepped foot in a chipotle for like 2 years
FGFS I only do food door dash
I still won’t eat here. Rather go to a taqueria.
Burningpoop it’s not the same!!! And expensive for a bowl honesty take your money to a food truck or anywhere else
But it’s delicious
Then not sure why lines are quite shorter nowdays than when they were at its prime time.
I was never worried or scared, I continued to eat Chipotle. My favorite fast food chain...if you wanna call it fast food. Healthy, but I love Chipotle most for not franchising any of your stores. Keep it 100 Chipotle, love you
chipotle is not healthy lol the amount of sodium they use in everything is outrageous
it’s the front facing customer buffet style service. The customers themselves are getting your food contaminated . They need a higher/taller glass to protect that food .
Chipotle made hundreds of people sick, some of them where even hospitalized. You're telling me all they did was change their sick leave policy and give out free burritos? 🤔
If you're paid your hourly rate by staying home and not working if you're sick then you wouldn't want to go to work sick in the first place as you wont lose a shift's worth of pay. This reduces the spread of disease. The video doesnt really show it but the store is sanitized regularly throughout the day and produce is washed with a food safe sanitizer.
Source: am employee
the leadership changes the chipotle's culture. actually, the fast-food chain's new products introducing strategy is helping chipotle rebuild image in customers' mind. It definitely helped the company walk out of the past.
♡ the baurroto's rice ev! Still my go 2.
“The share price is high at $800”
Share price 2021: $1900
The mission burrito sounds like any burrito made at a street corner. It sure as hell wasn’t invented wherever this video said it was invented.
Difference, Chipolte adds a bunch of filler (rice) in the burrito.
Open one here in Brazil, it’d be a hit
So it's high expectation to want good food that doesn't get you sick. Yeah ok🤣😂🤣
I mean kind of they can’t control if they get bad produce. Unless they test every batch for E. coli
@@joshuaschoenman8212 They have a responsibility to source from reliable high quality suppliers and do their research on that
The Chipotles in my area were never affected by the food safety problems and, unpopular opinion though it may be, I actually like Chipotle's food. Sure you can make 2x the amount of food for the same money, but when you live alone meal prep takes ages and it makes a big mess you have to clean up. Though I prefer food from Mexican taquerias, I still pop over at Chipotle from time to time.
What's the difference between Chipotle and Qdoba?
the only thing i miss is the burrito....their menu is simple and tastes good.wish we could expand that to asia-pacific.
Ate at Chipotle again after 3 years. Didn't taste a thing. Maybe I'll try their new Asafa because that's gotta have some kind of flavor...it has to.
Anyone else notice they said a stat from 2019 was the same as a stat from 2009.. 5:12
They opened a Chipotle in my small town and it got closed down within a year cause no one went there. Everyone I know prefers Qdoba.
Qdoba is good too.
The only thing that's hit or miss at Chipotle are their chips. Sometimes they can be a little bit too salty but other than that Chipotle is yummy
I mean moes I got real sick from like 30 minutes after it’s in my stomach. Taco Bell back in 2005-8 had like serious ecoli problem
During that time I was still going to chipotle every week because no lines!!!!
Lol did you get a discount??
Thanks dad❤️
“That sickened hundreds,” damn, I can hear the judgement in that.
They bounced back i was eating there often recently...
Love these!!!
I am searching for a chipotle commercial where a large burrito is chasing people I saw it in the movies once and never saw it again
Now I want some chipotle
I enjoyed Shop House as much as chipotle.
Safe food handling is a huge problem in the restaurant industry. Most people dont wash their hands before they put on gloves. News flash! You have to touch the gloves to put them on!
The big case study of my MBA capstone class was about this...
*shudders with PTSD*
Aaron Tyler Bell Films ha ha ha, it was that bad?
I had to stop eating chapotle a few years before the contamination of the food was discovered because I started getting really sick every time I ate there.
they should really solve the bug problem at 8:02 first lol
That carne asada initially attracted me to Chipotle. Really sad that it’s gone now
Chipotle Closed at $1,412.55
The Chipotle near my house either has the chicken way too spicy or kind of bland there is literally no in between.
0:15 this happened a few years ago, not 1981.

Ohh the reason why we say, "Enter [insert name here]" to introduce somebody is because that's how plays are written!!
11:36 my boy looking sad
Close on Sunday, I'm your Chipotle.
What kind of soda do they serve at Chipotle?
"e-Cola"
and this is why we have to make sure all hot foods are 140+ ° and all cold foods: 41 or less °
Any restaurant can have food safety issues with poor management. I wouldn't invest in restaurants, too many variables.
they should add some stores in Puerto Rico!!!
You might as well change the title to “history of chipotle.”
I still love chipotle
I'll pass. They dont know how to portion anyway, a mountain of cold guac on my hot food is not appealing.
It's easy to make a comeback when you have billions of dollars holding you up.
My man there’s a fly over your head 8:04
I have never been to Chipotle.
11:35
yo that’s sad wtf
I still refuse to eat there.
this is great, it makes me want to try this food.
Chipotle is always cold
i used to work at chipotle - one time i was scooping rice and couldn't stop coughing - you know how that is sometimes when you can't stop coughing and nothing stops it until you have water? My boss at Chipotle said I wasn't allowed to leave my position, even though i would be coughing over everyones food bc it was bad for the restaurant's efficiency. I told him that customers safety was more important and quietly excused myself from the line...... and then later from my job lol. Also i was one of the people that got hospitalized for illness so pretty much the worst job of my life
Everyone has forgotten about that.
I'm Mexican and I don't see how this is Mexican food, this or taco bell with those damn hard shell taco shaped tostadas. But I guess that's just a US thing, little Caesar's is probably considered italian food. A more typical Mexican food would be Mole, Sopes, Gorditas, tacos (of course), tamales etc, as for soup-like foods there's pozole, menudo (which i find gross) and other really good stuff. There's probably even better stuff i didn't mention, but that's because I live right in the edge of Latin America.
It's closer to what would be called TexMex, that's just how USA works since we're so diverse.
It's more like tex-mex than true Mexican
I’m
Mexican as well and this is like the food we eat wheee my parents are form, no all Mexican foods are the same.
