    I purchased my Northface Stormbreak 2 yesterday and did some living room assembly today with the aid of your video. I did enjoy watching your assembly demonstration; thank you very much. There is a learning curve, particularly with the disassembly and return to the original packing bag. I would like to see a slow, step-by-step disassembly of the tent with a few pointers as to why a particular ordering of steps is important. For example, I learned that if the fly zippers are not closed prior to disassembly, then when attempting to zip them afterwards they tend to catch on the underside fabric.

    • @danshea9754
      @danshea9754  2 года назад +1

      The zippers always catch unfortunately. The key is to push out from the inside to unzip. If it gets stuck use your other hand to pull the flap tight downwards then unzip. You get used to it. It's not hard to get it back in the bag. Add the poles after it's packed. You can also use a collapsing bag like I do for my sleeping bag and tent.

    You mentioned you're not a fan of the color. Me neither. Why are tent colors so horrible these days? All I want is a nice muted green or tan that doesn't stand out when I don't want to be noticed . . . which is always!

    Awesome video bud, thanks. I've been researching tents and am now sold on the storm breaker after watching both your reviews on it. This one definitely shows the UV wear on the rain fly but that means it's also held up too, right? I'd say The North Face owes you a new tent for boosting their sales lol. Nice bike btw. I just bought this tent and this video is amazing, couldn’t imagine a review being better. Also I bought the tent without knowing anything about it and now that I’ve set it up and watched this video I realize this tent is amazing, and an incredible value. I bought mine for like $150 or $160. Probably too heavy for backpacking but if you’re not backpacking this tent is amazing. So if you’re watching this video and haven’t bought the tent yet I highly recommend it.

I have North Face Talus that i got some time around 1996 and have used the heck out of, still in great shape but the zippers are finally giving up the ghost, though it's still a functional small tent. When you feel the rainfly it's much better than ask the others. No water should come through but I always double up with the spray. The tent us an extremely well made tent using great materials. I’ve watched a LOT of videos on the Storm Break 2 and yours is by far the best review out there. I bought the same tent but in the Agave/Pavement color scheme, otherwise it’s identical. For anyone looking, don’t get the older versions or you’ll miss out on all the features shown here. Make sure the color says either Golden Oak or Agave Pavement and you should be good. The doors are larger and you get 4 pockets instead of 2.

    Thanks for the most comprehensive and honest real life tent video I've seen. While it's a bit big and heavy for backpacking, it certainly looks really great for bike packing (or bicycle or car ditto). Lot's of great ways to improve secure tenting in stormy weather. The base goes up pretty high, which is not always the case, and those extra loops on the outside, you can just add on more guy lines and make it even better. Smart features. I think the 4 inside corner hooks can be used for lines to dry wet stuff and/or hang a mesh wall with stuff and/or a gear loft. Really many tents today are pretty small inside and doesn't have room for modern wider mats, but this one does. That is really great.
    Use walking poles or as you say your bike to make a comfortable place in the shade while outside cooking etc.
    The only question I have is regarding the setup. Can it be done in reverse, so outer fly first in bad weather to avoid inner tent getting all wet?
    Also, while I came to think of it, can it be used in the Winter with snow?
    I think it fits my old Laverda triple just fine. The clipons on my bike begin to be a bit low after 36 years of biking, but as long as I can swing my leg over it, it's fine. Ride and live!
    Thanks a ton for making this good video.
    Kind regards from Denmark.

    I plan to use this on a 3rd floor porch in Nag's Head in March. Could be very windy. Can I just attach it to porch railings since I can not pound tent stakes into the ground?

      Sure, it has big loops at the stakes. You can easily attach cord to it and tie it off.

    LOL!!! BROTHER, YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME! Dang you rock! This video was epic, exactly what I needed to see, I started to feel bad when I saw you unload this tent to show how it’s done, but holy moly....man I appreciate what you did!!! I’m not even going to shop around, I’m getting this tent!!! Don't care what they try to sell me, this tent is a nonnegotiable... don’t care what color it is... gotta tell you, this past weekend I’m out driving thru the mountains in my SUV, and got caught by one ferocious rail & hail storm, to where I had to drive off the highway and get cover in the trees because the hail sounded like it was going to break my windshield. Sitting there waiting for the hail to quit, I actually thought to myself... “how would a tent withstand this violent weather?!” Bro you just dropped a ten pound log on this tent; golf ball size hail doesn’t make a dent on this tent. No doubt this thing keeps a guy dry, it breathes well when you want a breeze on a stuffy night... zips up tight to keep mosquitos out, great corner pockets to keep your things in...love the idea at times using it as a lean-to connecting to your bike.... And I was amazed how fast you set it up.... that’s another dealio, when you’re tired, or nightfall is coming, or bad weather is in the distance, you just don’t want a tent that you have to wrestle with, to set up... I’m all in brother. You made my day. I’ll keep you posted when I land the tent... by the way, what kind of roll do you like under your sleeping bag, that gives you the comfort you’re looking for, and packs up nice on the bike? Gotta get my riding subscribers hooked up with you and your content brother; you’re the real deal. Sorry so long winded; can u tell I’m psyched about this tent?! Semper Fi brother!

    • @danshea9754

      If you want to set up the canopy by itself there are the support holes under the canopy that you put the 2 small poles in it. Then the cross poles get velcroed into place. It's not easy to do but it can be done.

    Really great review, thanks. Am looking to replace my 19 year old North face Roadrunner 2. The only thing wrong with it is that the plastic 'windows' in the fly have disintegrated. Won't ever buy another tent with windows, but love the set up and mesh inners which are so amazing for stargazing and hot weather chill outs in the shade...so want something similar. This looks just the job. Cheers!

Used the voucher for a new Storm Break 2 and footprint with a bit left over. Can’t wait to try it out. Hope it lasts as long as our 35 yr old VE24.

    • @danshea9754
      @danshea9754  4 года назад +1

      I guess it would depend on how many miles you plan on hiking. If doing 200 miles or less I would definitely bring it. It has just enough room to store your gear and sleep comfortably. If you plan on doing state to state or a couple months you might want to look for ultra lite tent.

    I'm debating between this and the REI Passage 2. The Passage 2's rainfly attaches with buckles and has ventilation at the top. Does having to pull up the tent's stake to attach the rainfly become bothersome to you? Also what is the hottest temp you've camped in this?

    • @danshea9754
      @danshea9754  4 года назад +1

      Attaching the rainfly is fine for me. I had a tent with buckles and mud would get inside it and piss me off. The northface is so much stronger but maybe the passage is a bit lighter.

    • @danshea9754
      @danshea9754  4 года назад +1
