I’m really loving PSVR2. Hoping the platform keeps growing over time!
I seriously hope Sony doesn't give up on VR. They're just doing it better in so many ways and I know that, should they eventually put out a wireless VR set up, it would be so good.
They aren't giving up but it's up to developers and Bethesda, as 1 of only 2 AAA studios supporting it, might no longer support it. It's very concerning
I really think PSVR2 *needs* a port of Half-Life Alyx to really gain a strong position in the market. Sony should be throwing ALL the money at Valve for it. Being able to play that without a beefy PC and Index-like headset would be a huge selling point for people.
@@Yoshimitsu4prez I don't think people who played that would be interested in buying vr2, nor would any newcomer to VR as it's not a well known franchise? The only thing it would do is have the VR community say that's cool you finally got it, and give vr2 owners something to play. If they want to sell headsets they need some AAA big brand games. Doing Skyrim, Doom, Resident Evil 7 was huge for PSVR, but they need to go beyond that. I do like how Sony creates a vast exclusive library for their consoles, including VR. PSVR has a lot more of them then people realize and that too could help PCVR owners buy an extra headset. VR is a tough market to break into, Sony has a foothold, but they need to announce some major titles and I'm not talking Job Simulator 2
To earn more money, Sony has to pull more people into the VR2 arena, to do that, they have to enable people to buy it. The VR2 is more expensive than the console, that is truly odd. But I hope they will lower the price much more. For many people the console price is already an challenge. Makes me think about the movie "Ready player one", where even the low income people had VR. If that happens, then the market will immediately explode. If every low-income person spend 10 euro, that is much more then 1 million people who spend 500 euro. The masses of people generate the capital, not the niche number of billionaires.... they only need one VR system.
@@chihwahli3677 whys it truly odd? You'd rather they cut corners and gave you a cheaper product ?
This is the kind of innovative content we are here for 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks mate! []-)
It's a lot of fun for sure, but "innovative"? Strapping a battery pack to your Laptop or PS5 to make VR wireless-like and portable is hardly "innovative".
@@mitcherny6965😒 just clap bruh
@@mitcherny6965 take the stick out
Glad someone did this. My backpack PC was a game changer. Thinking of trying a version of this.
Many years ago I use to use Zotac solution. But as OG stated, real issue is with the boundries which I hope Sony can push an update to allow limitless
Never going to try this myself but I am truly seeing a genius at work here
Love the creative approach here. Always cool to see people like Mike pushing the latest tech to its limits in one way or another!
Mike your VR channel really has exploded
Congrats on your hard work and exellent content
Man I wish I had this much space to play in VR. It looks awesome!
Just play in your garden
Nice, this is pretty epic. I can see the PSVR2 owners running around the local parks playing games, lol.
Great idea , loved this looked really cool . Love my VR2 👌👌👌👌
Oculus Quest 2 + Airlink + Rooftop of my house! Best way Ive experienced any PCVR game with utmost immersion!
Amazing idea and amazing video 🔥
thank you for your super fun video it's a great idea 😁
I remember that the only moving parts inside the ps5 are the fans since the storage is a ssd drive. No need to worry moving the ps5 around
When you reach the edge of your play space you should use manual redirected walking. (joystick turning while turning the opposite way in your real space) to keep real life walking the same direction in game. It takes a while to get used to the spinning but it's my favorite way to play VR in my 2 car garage. The more real steps you can take in VR the more real it feels. 😉Cool vid
There you go trail blazing again..well done!!.♥️🇬🇧
Awesome video dude 🔥
Wow what a cool idea Mike, just a pity you can't map the entire playspace, I was thinking of trying summat similar in my garden 😁still loving mine, I got that addicted to gt7, it was all I was playing but finally had a break last night and got back into resi evil village
Thanks! This was interesting.
Wow great job bro I’m jumping back in psvr2 tomorrow
I can totally seem some fool (and I mean that in the most complimentary of ways) finding a way to stick components of their PS5 into a more compact form and trying this, and finding a way to mitigate that boundary limitation.
I mean, wouldn't that just be too cool?
Great and fun video, Mike, thanks for taking the risks I'd be ENTIRELY too cheap to take! 😏
That was AWESOME!!!!
This looked like a lot of fun. I recently went to a room-scale vr experience and I have to say that my only complaint was that the headset had so many add-ons to work that I had a headache within the hour. I wonder how comfortable would it be to carry the ps5 on your back for long sessions. 😅 But the experience of free roaming was super interesting. I kept trying to use the joystick to move around.
awesome video mate!
Thanks so much my dude []-)
5:22 "Despite the game looking very simple, this freeroam experience turned out to be one of the most immersive experiences"
I don't know if he fully realized what he said there. If so, my applause for seating it within this context.
Room scale VR is just so much more immersive
This is absolutely brilliant. Sony really need to work on a wireless adaptor for PSVR 2. They would sell like hot cakes!
That's absolutely ridiculous, I love it!😂
Personally I'll wait for the PS5 lite. Lol
That would cause VR to really go mainstream I would hope
I’m in love with my PSVR2! I cannot wait to see what’s next in the VR space.
I'll tell you what's next. If Sony doesn't pull their finger out of their *ss quick smart and keep releasing AAA titles, you will soon be looking to get into PCVR to take advantage of cheaper, moddable games and famous flat-to-vr ports on Steam VR.
I was thinking about doing the same thing combined with a slim PS5 mod... This is cool 👍
I’ve been waiting for another video for wayyyyyyy to long
Back Haptics. Let's gooooo!! 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️
Sony should definitely make it possible to turn off the guardian boundary system. If I set myself in a chair or on a mat where I have checked I cannot hit anything, then a boundary is not required, and can be really annoying. You can do it with the Quest 2 so why not with PS VR2?
Great video you just got a new subscriber out of me
Thanks Mike.
❤love sandbox VR 🎉🎉
Amazing!!!
YOU ARE MY HERO! 😅
I love my psvr2. Haven’t touched the Q2 since
This is an awesome experiment! I tried Zero Latency and even though the technology was impressive, I felt let down by the arcade-y games with bullet-sponge enemies. If we had console or PC quality games in a setting like this, it would have made the experience so much better!
Just got one. And I only did the set up due to my schedule but the augmented reality during the set up was nice. I doubt this head set is even close to being pushed to its limits. I think it more of a console memory or programming that's limits this. I could be wrong tho.
I have actually had this idea I love using my side quest
Are there any locations in the UK that allow you to turn up with your own VR headset? I guess a community hall would work, one with WiFi would be ideal. I've used large empty meeting rooms at work and deserted offices. What I often found was that bigger spaces encourage you to walk further and you end up playing at the edge of which ever space you have.
I knew someone would do this before it was released 😂if I had the time money and skill I would of done it myself lol
I'm actually kind of shocked that that battery was able ti supply enough power to run the playstation! It looks epic! Was it heavy?
Throwback to 2016 portable vr
Awesome
That experiment just shows how far away we are from a standalone VR headset with the PSVR2 quality visuals and power, the battery would only power it for 60 minutes even though it was a very large battery, in another five years or so we may see a standalone compact VR headset with all the power of the PSVR2.
Can’t understand why you wouldn’t recommend this as it really would add to the immersion . Perhaps they’ll be a wireless add on peripheral in the future or maybe the psvr 3 will incorporate this feature .
There is a very cheap overhead pulley solution for the htc vive I remember which worked quite well which would easily work for this system as well.
Another possibility is attaching the wire from the headset to your belt so it doesn’t pull on your head but just your waist area so less chance the headset would be pulled off your head if you walked too far and even a long spring from your waist which would hold the lead away from your body and so the wires wouldn’t get as tangled as much under your feet when you turned around - I tried all these on my htc vive and they all worked well so I can’t see why it couldn’t be fine with psvr 2 ?
Thanks for the video. I wonder what the limits of the Quest2 are, it terms of safe zone
I think the max boundary on Quest 2 is 15m x 15m so much bigger []-)
I'm not a huge fan of being wired. I'm curious what this idea would look like on the new Vive headset.
Man that's so cool, but so impractical. I'm waiting until we have solid VR treadmills, I love the idea of free walking but I don't want to be stuck having to have a giant room every time
How long a cable is possible? If I ceiling mounted the PS5?
I'm gonna do this over the road at the basketball stadium with my pico 4. I think it has 10 by 10 m. Any recomendations for games?
You sir are a genius, and oddly enough i have found a similar solution though not as portable as your own. I play PSVR2 in my home office where my back wall is a floor to ceiling bookshelf and it allows me to use the full scale of the room minus the section where my desk and PC is located. I have found that if I play VR facing that wall with the bookshelf that I get full tracking. This allows me to have the PS5 connected to my TV which is on the wall opposite the bookself at my back. I have a simple zip tie on the back of the headset so that it feeds the wire down my back instead of at my side. From there I have a USBc extension cable connected to a ceiling mounted pulley which holds the cord above my head. The pulley has an auto feeder which lets me move about in the space and auto retracts the cord. Since my space is less than the maximum cord length, I have the freedom to go where I want in VR and if for whatever reasons I go too far I disconnect the headset from the extension cable not my console. So my console sits firmly on the top of my entertainment unit, and while I get full VR mobility minus the heavy backpack.
I find that slinging the cord over the left side if the couch is better then stringing it on the ceiling cuz the cord isn't that long when on the ceiling fan
Great video Mike I I would be interested in a wireless PlayStation VR to headset if can deliver the same quality graphics that I saw on your screen but, a consul or PC is the best graphical fidelity that we can get right now. I cannot believe that your experiment actually worked with so awesome keep going with your channel Mike have a great day mate.
Why wouldn't it work you don't need a TV
:) We get about 5 VR headsets together to play PCVR in football fields for epic free roam playing kinda like this.
Nice one son!
That is super funny
I feel bad for your back Mike 😂
Awesomeness 😂.
So that battery says it'll power ps5 200w for 1hr. As the AC in socket for that model you have only supports maximum 300w
300 Watts 230V it can go up to 600Watts for a short period on power boost
What better ps vr2 or oculus quest two
This would be perfect with creed vr
What's clipped on the side of your psvr2 halo area? An IR blaster?
Ah that’s a wireless DJI mic []-)
there should be a feature for when you get close to the boundary, the vr world does a 180 and then you spin yourself around 180 in real life, and continue walking in the same in- game direction. not perfect but not terrible perhaps for some games
not so much different with my playspace 4x4m
but at least ur doing it wirelessy
Hopefully sony watch this and remove the limitation of the boundary system, im guessing they are already in the early stages if the next psvr and Hopefully it will be wireless or at least transmit information over the cloud and steam it directly.
Do it with a Slim model now and show us
whats the total weight of it?
When are you going to do the giveaway
Supongo cuando salga la ps5 Slim será más fácil
Can someone tell me what kind of backpack he has I'm gonna try this even if it's not recommended lol.
I’m not going to listen to you this time . I’ll try this myself immediately in my garage 😉🤩
Niceeee… I wish psvr2 cable less come true🙂🙂🙂👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Hi my friend can I use wireless earbuds with Psvr2 regards
Yeah, the Anker Soundcore P10’s are pretty great although personally I prefer the default wired buds []-)
@@VirtualRealityOasis hi the wired buds that come with the headset full out, I have tried the different size ear pieces, any other ideas, regards and thanks Mike
what about psvr 1
How did you get that to boot? If I try to start the PSVR2 without a TV it refuses to play ball. No TV required, or boot with a TV and then disconnect TV and headset remains happy? Thanks.
After the initial setup, you shouldn’t need a TV to use the PSVR 2 []-)
@@VirtualRealityOasis Thanks for the reply, I'll give it another go. Appreciate your time. 👍
well thats why we have omni directional treadmills like the KATVR
Try to lie down on a KATVR 😁😁
This is something i really want to try, just not enough space @ my place
It's a nice idea but you always run into the problem of power consumption rand run time when you are powering computers from batteries. I imagine it would be especially bad if you consider trying to do this with PCVR with a beefy graphics card.
Wireless with quest pro streaming from PC. I play that way in my garage 14 x 14 feet with RE Village with ray tracing, Anti aliasing, 1.5x super sampling etc (RTX3080). Yeah I have PSVR2 also but for this kind of thing I'm gonna use the quest pro and a PC wirelessly. It's built for it and no backpack needed.
So basically play at middle of desert. U can run freely.
Everyone, set your PSVR2 brightness to the lowest it will go - this will reduce headaches and immerse you even more!
Well i already bought a wheel rig, 350$ headphones, and a 4tb hd…. Might as well add just one more accessory!
I'll keep saying it until it happens
We need Deep Dive VR to become a reality
Yea if you want to break immersion carry it on your back. Or just pull it out and set it on a table...
Quest allows boundless, wondering why psvr2 they dont allow. Maybe they will have future updates that allow it. It just a software issue.
Surely it's to make sure you don't move beyond the cable's length
@@ryogo666 True, but if what if there are cable extenders that have minimal db loss loss, I think they should think about allowing us to extend as far as we would want
Where can I get a psvr2?
At the moment, the best way is to order directly from PlayStation []-)
Thank you for letting me know and I love your videos
Also is PlayStation direct ok to order from?
If I ever get one I’ll do this and sit in an actual car on gt7 😂
Ps5 slim would make this so much better
Back to the "wireless" wire cutter, are we? 😅
Snip snip []-)
I assume u used a ps5 digital
No it was the full disc version, both RE8 and GT7 were physical discs too lol I was surprised they worked with the console being moved around so much []-)
Would be cool if the leaked ps portable had the power of a steam deck and could pull this type of thing off
I can’t play GT7 without the headset now.
Not to be rude, but is there still going to be a giveaway of a PSVR2?
So basically..
PS5 Console +
PSVR2 +
Inverter +
Backpack +
Gym membership +
Red Bull+
PainKillers = Next Gen Standalone VR!!!
I was wondering why don't they just make Ps vr headsets in the future that can be used both wired and wirelessly like the Meta quest 2. I would think that most gamers would enjoy more untethered experiences where they can walk around freely.
Because wireless needs a very very good wifi, which for tons of people is not the case, with tons of signals bouncing around and most of them not being wifi 6.
Then you get the downgrade in the visuals. Also you get a delay if you turn around very fast, resulting in black bars on the sides, as well as occasional visual noise and just delay.
I don't know if Sony can do anything about the wired option, but quest 2 sucks ass when wired because of compression, so the quality of the image is worse when wired (not talking about graphics).
Then you also have the battery, which makes the headset quite a bit heavier, so If it's internal, it makes the headset less comfortable even to those that use it wired. If it's external, it's gonna be some extra money and people will complain.
There are many many drawbacks to a wireless headset.
Meanwhile, the only drawback for a wired headset...is the wire.
@@kato093 It would be nice if PS could make a headset lighter and better than Meta Quest. I hope in the future that headsets will be as almost as light as sun glasses or weigh under a pound. I have read that the Bigscreen Beyond is the lightest vr headset weighing in over a quarter of a pound. I suppose these companies want to sell us the bulky headsets first to make a profit before selling the more lightweight compact models just like the heavier tv models were out first and now the tv's are much lighter.
@@misstanya7487 uh..
Not really. Do you know how the beyond works and how much it costs?
It's that small and light because you have to scan your face and send your IPD and prescription because they make a mold to fit your face and there's no ipd adjustment or any space for glasses.
Why? Because a VR where you get light coming from every direction SUCKS. Thats why they don't make VR glasses, but only AR.
Yes, we might get such headsets in the future...maybe in 30 years?
Cuz how can you make a commercial headset that can fit 99% of the biggest and smallest people, that fits glasses (or doesn't need glasses), with pancake lenses but without losing all the colours and brightness of the micro oled panels, without a cable but that doesn't lose any visual quality like the quest, with an FOV that's above the 93 degrees the beyond offers and all the things you want??
I have no idea. It's sci Fi shit at that point.
To me, just make it as comfortable and light as possible and I don't give a fuck.
Cable is not a problem at all. Big or bulky is irrelevant if it's comfortable and light, only people watching you will see.
@@kato093 i was thinking Sony could restrict gameplay with a warning saying game is too graphically intense to use stand alone, please plug into PS5, and have crappy lookin games play wireless, but there are concerns still regarding wireless vr and health concerns
@@misstanya7487 vive has 2 of them already
Quest users be like 'Look what they need to mimick a fraction of our power'
Quest can't run every game without tethering it to a PC....
Quest user here "power" is not the word you want to use bro😂
I think I'd rather just have a longer cable and would rather hook it up in my garage lol I just can't imagine carrying all that crap for hours.
I love the psve, but the price on this new one is almost as ludicrous as the ps5.
Pls make the quest 2 portable 😂
