Hey Connor is playing a Eb Trumpet the same as a Eb cornet as far as Orchestral, Solo pieces. As far as resistance and playing the same range. Would a person also play a Eb trumpet say for a Sousa March if that is all they have?
I on e wrote an Eb trumpet part thinking it would make it easier for the player. But the trumpeter told me he'd rather just play it in his C trumpet and transpose -- go figure!
Thank you! My personal choice of notation software is Dorico Pro by Steinberg, but I also definitely recommend MuseScore over any of the other free options if you’re on a tight budget.
Connor for your example Bach’s Magnificat you started on a E natural - I didn’t see a key signature on the written page, or accidentals, what key were you in while playing your A piccolo and what was your fingering for the E natural- 1&2 ?
The Magnificat excerpt pictured in the video is written for D trumpet, so when played on A piccolo it’s a perfect fifth down in the key of F (starting on A natural)
Connor do you know if the Eb trumpet and Eb cornet are pitched the same a perfect 4th above Bb flat trumpet and do the both read a minor 3rd below concert pitch?
Amazing. That last flugehorn piece, the torn reminded me of a tenor sax

I currently only have a Bb trumpet and I’m tossing up whether to buy a C trumpet or a D/Eb trumpet. What do you recommend?
C trumpet for sure, if you're a classical player. You'll find yourself using it much more often than a D/Eb! If you're into jazz, flugelhorn next.
@@connorjohnsontrumpet ah ok thanks! Yeah I reckon. I was just looking into the d/Eb trumpets because a lot of great trumpet concertos are in Eb.
@Bill Smith yeah I’ve already got my Bach C trumpet and I’m loving it.
Connor you found great. Great tutorial. Fo you have a music notation software you like to use

Eb trumpet and Eb cornet are both pitched in the same key and read the same transposition, yes!
