So happy to see you appreciate this song! Italy always sends established artists so their entries are always pretty strong. Most of the fandom hates this song because it's jazz and a lot of people have this silly conspiracy theory that the juries ranked Italy 1st to keep them from leaving the contest again, but I think the juries ranked it 1st because it was a super classy song in sea of basic pop songs. It deserved the good ranking it got and it's sad that ESC fans can't see that just because they don't like the genre.
It's nice to see sombody outside the ESC bubble appreciating this entry so much; now I'm feeling less lonely about my opinion. You might also like Albania 2012 (Suus) - another artsy song unloved by the ESC community. (It became 5th, Ithink)
I'm not really into this type of music, but man how I loved this song. And I was a teenager back then, so I was even stingier with my music tastes than I am now.
That's quality music right there. I remember watching the contest live and not paying attention to this song at all between all the typical uptempo songs, and thinking after the results that this was a gift to Italy for coming back after so many years out of the contest. But now I look back and I see quality and good jazz music like not often we see in the Eurovision stage, and obviously when i think about Azerbaijan winning with that song, probably one of the worst winners of recent times along with Russia in 2008, I don't understand how this did so bad with the televote compared with Running Scared.
Please watch Italy 2015! Il Volo - Grande Amore. It ended up 3rd place general and 1st in televote. As I know it was an absolute record in televote and they really deserved to win.
It’s not an absolute record in points actually, but it’s first in televote when we take percentage of available points as in 2015 there were 40 countries competeing compared to 42 in 2009 and 2017.
Holy fuck! You just reminded me how amazing this was. The jury adored this, the televote had him 11th. If this was entered today the public would def get this more and it would win.
I loved your reaction, this Is so underrated among eurovision fans, but this Is one of my favorites! #splenderai #madnessoflove Ps. You should watch the music video.
You should react to Italy 2015, the song is called "Grande Amore". It came only 3rd but they got 361 points from the Televote and won it. Percentage wise this is the highest Televote score ever (not in terms of points because we had fewer countries participating in 2015) The juries put them 6th place or something and many people (including me) are still mad that the song with the highest Televote score ever didn't win. I'm still not over it, it was so amazing.
Yeah Azerbaijan was 1st and 2nd in televote and jury while this was 11th and 1st. The results of 2011 for are really confusing but hey in 2018 Austria was 1st and 13th right?
Please keep reacting to songs that didn't win !!! There are so many gems like this every year that have achieved fifth or even twentieth place. Anuk " birds" from Netherlands in 2013 was one of the memorable" wow- melodies" that came ninth place. Still blows my mind.
Some coffee☕☕+ Jake's reactions = let the new day beginn 😄☉☉☉🖐 After that I also want go back and listen to more of him, 'cause he is absolutely genius! But still- watch Il Volo, more than worthy performance! 😊
It ended 2nd but many people don't love it and say it only finished 2nd because it was the year of their comeback. I think it's quite underrated by fans. It's great. The piano is great, his voice is great and the song is different but quality. I get why it won the jury vote
Thanks to this video I rediscovered this gem of underrated entries of the Eurovision Song Contest. I have seen the entire show of 2011. I remember liking it, but now I love this song. Can't stop listening to it. This is real music. And real music rarely gets rewarded at Eurovision. With the juries it won Eurovision. But, with the televoting it ended very low. Damned televoting. And remember, we had only televoting from 1998 till 2009. Those years apparently mirrored the poor taste of the public watching Eurovision. At Eurovision they want party music. Not music with a message. Luckily, the jury votes returned. And quality music got higher scores.
Hey, Jake, I don't know if you're still taking care of the channel. I've only become interested in Eurovision and reaction videos very recently (out of victor's pride, I'm afraid), but yours are among my favorite. So I'm surprised that you haven't covered this year's edition, yet. Maybe you're more the kind to wait and do it after the buzz has died...? I'm looking forward to your take on the contest. Watching it now has made me sorry that I snubbed it before...
Hi Jake, just in case you didn't take note yet, judging from the amount of comments and request, you should just react ITALY 2015, our best Eurovision entry EVER!!
I really don't get why eurovision always has to do pop songs and omologate to this "same sound song" standard. When a country does a different genre everyone is like naah it's not good. Dude it's not that if a song is not pop it's not good. I get that everyone says they were 2nd place because it was their first entry after years, but at the same time you wanna compare pop all the same songs to such a classy jazz song? Come on man, that's why Italy always gets dissatisfied when competing in eurovision, it's cause all the songs are the same and boring.
Oh you should react to ALL Zeljko Joksimovic songs! You will love them! Especially in 2004! He participated in 2004 (2nd) and 2012 (3rd), and in 2006(3rd with Bosnia & Herzegovina)and 2008 (6th) as a composer. Serbia should be proud of him!
2011 was a weird and unpredictable year in Eurovision, a bit like this year. Nobody really knew how to vote/what to do haha and so there were many discrepancies, differences in the semi and final and so on. Many of the early favourites failed in terms of placing etc, though even they got quite a high score because the points were so evened out. I guess the level was quite high, but still we ended up with for many, quite an underwhelming winner. Bosnia & Herzegovina (Dino Merlin - Love In Rewind) was my favourite from 2011 + still one of my favourite Eurovision songs ever and imo should've won, it's a quality song that stands the tests of time. You should react to it! :)
Love your reaction videos! You should react to "love love peace peace" performed by the presenters Måns Zelmerlöw and Petra Mede at ESC 2016 in Stockholm. A song about how to win Eurovision Song Contest.
Yes he did, right after seeing all the winners from 2008-2017, and before the this years contest. He liked it and understood many jokes. But for some reason it was taken down within the first day. Silly!
You can actually search the voting part of each year's contest on RUclips although I don't know if you are getting geoblocked from all of it. Some other RUclipsrs outside of the EBU have uploaded the voting parts of previous years, including 2011, so perhaps it will be available to you in the States. Try searching "esc 2011 voting" or whatever year you would like to watch 😊
The only thing that I didn't like about this whole entry and the score it got was seeing Italian commentators outraged at not winning while dismissing every other song. They weren't feeling grateful or lucky that their song was appreciated among 40 contestants, but as if the big prize was the least they naturally deserved. It gave them a completely wrong perception of how Eurovision works nowadays. Reminded me of those Anglocentric British people who think Eurovision is a joke and since it's "obvious" they have the best music in the world, it's not worth it to put any effort. Terrible attitude.
Italy should have won 2011. And you saying that juries overated it because Italy was coming back, really?? Azerbaijan was buying votes via SIM cards in some countries like Lithuania. There are images of that. ;)
Hey, could you please watch some of the Balkan's countries performances on the eurovision. I suggest you to watch Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2006 and Serbia in 2004 and 2012 (same guy called Zeljko Joksimovic was represnting Serbia in both years). Believe me you will like it. Greetings from Croatia :-)
No iceland was much much better in 2013 with the guy with long hair. Now that's a beautiful song. Eythor Ingi - Ég Á Líf (Iceland) - LIVE - 2013 Grand Final Watch it Jake. Beautiful Viking man with long hair and a great voice
If you like jazz I can recommend you a really good artist Roger Cicero I love his voice unfortunately he is in the age of 46 years 2016 deceased. He has performed in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 his song Women ruling the world.
This song was in my Top10 in 2011. The biggest shocker for me in 2011 was Bulgaria not qualifying for the grand final, it was my favorite song that year. T_T
So glad Italy returned. The best Big5 country for sure. So many great songs from Italy. But this song is not their best from 2011-2018, but still this was the closest to winning.
Italy left the contest in 1997 and then came back as part of the Big 5 automatic qualifiers for the first time again in this year. That's why the Juries voted it 1st but only 11th in the public vote - pretty much everyone agreed this was a bit overrated on the night cos it's just not a very radio-friendly/public friendly song
YepItsThatGuy That sounds like conspiracy. I think this song simply appealed more to the juries. A well crafted jazz. Might not be what the modern day public finds as appealing.

Mirror Onthewall same!
Yeah. Same! It was great.
The transitions from voice to trumpet were brilliant.
Yes he's doing fine in his career so far, he's one of the best we have in my opinion, cheers from Italy.
It's nice to see sombody outside the ESC bubble appreciating this entry so much; now I'm feeling less lonely about my opinion.

Suus was so meme-able, but I truly loved it. Taught myself the piano part. Too bad I can't grow that hair!
I'm not really into this type of music, but man how I loved this song. And I was a teenager back then, so I was even stingier with my music tastes than I am now.
ankhefenra He made so,e great song in the recent years.

man, this will always be my favourite eurovision entry.

Oh no, please no.
Vlad D I think they got 12 points from 17 countries or something like that. That is the record he's talking about
in percentage they have the record. Of course they have less 12 points cause they were less country.
Wahahaa exactly what I was thinking. Please Don't Watch that song. Please don't watch them because it's just a bad copy of il divo. All there is to it
This is my 2011 winner, I still don't know why it didn't win. 2011 was such a weird year.

Lucas Dal Bosco Baseggio yes, results of 2011 were the most confusing till ESC 2018 happened.
How can you forget Sweden 2 and 22
@@vladd896 2019 is even weirder with Norway and North Macedonia winning televotes and jury votes, yet neither are in top 5.

I'm looking at you and I can't believe how you doing this...Fantastic...
Definitely reaction No.1, for me...
I love you Jack and thanks...
😂😂😂😂😂
Classe italiana straordinario brano musicale jazz italiano bellissimo
The reason the song hasn't won is due to the fact to the big discrepancy between the jury vote (1st) and the televote (11th).
Some coffee☕☕+ Jake's reactions = let the new day beginn 😄☉☉☉🖐 After that I also want go back and listen to more of him, 'cause he is absolutely genius! But still- watch Il Volo, more than worthy performance! 😊

I still have no freaking idea what Azerbaijan won in 2011.
I will never understand how Azerbaijan got to win back then. ☹
Daniel Merino because other entries have not enough points to pass Azerbaijan
Since they came back Italy there songs have been pretty good in my eyes.
That was an amazing come back from italy.... love almost all their entries. Check out ‘l’essenziale’ from Marco Mengoni!
Hi Jake, just in case you didn't take note yet, judging from the amount of comments and request, you should just react ITALY 2015, our best Eurovision entry EVER!!
Gigliola Cinquetti songs were better. And Mia Martini's ''Rapsodia'' of 1992 also. And ''Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu"
Wow, I can't remember this performance even after watching the reaction. I thought they came back few years later

Definitely my winner. Jazz is seriously under-represented in Eurovision.
My favorite entry from 2011
I really wanted this song to win in 2011. It was so unique.
HOW COULD THAT NOT WIN is what I keep asking myself ever since May 2011

the most memorable of 2011 was Jedward's Lipstick from Ireland. You should defiantly react to that ;)

So glad Italy returned. The best Big5 country for sure. So many great songs from Italy. But this song is not their best from 2011-2018, but still this was the closest to winning.
This was much better than azerbaijan - i often forget they won that year too
Italy left the contest in 1997 and then came back as part of the Big 5 automatic qualifiers for the first time again in this year. YepItsThatGuy it’s so annoying that the juries are always biased. They vote for any reason but the song.
Rafał Dydkiem Machał No evidence for that.
This was a well crafted song and appealed more the juries than the public.
YepItsThatGuy That sounds like conspiracy.
I think this song simply appealed more to the juries.
A well crafted jazz. Might not be what the modern day public finds as appealing.
Jasmine Karam it’s a terrible song, wannabe good crafted. And who did Australia 2017 appeal to, for example? There are tons of examples of ridiculous jury voting.
LOL. You don't hear he's off key a lot, do you?
IMHO, 2011 was a huge mess in terms of voting, Azerbaijan was really not in my top 10 of good songs.
ITALY, BOSNIA, SWEDEN AND EVEN UK, IRELAND AND DENMARK WERE MUCH BETTER SONGS.
anyways, they made a huge show the following year.
And Greece also!!!
Nice video. If you have not seen it before, you should react to one of the classics. "Ne partez pas sans moi" winning song from switzerland in 1988 by Celine Dion.
How could that song defeat Eric Saade?
Raphael Gualazzi has some great songs (''Reality And Fantasy'', ''L'Estate Di John Wayne'')
I try to forget this song finishing 2nd!!!
For 2011 (aka the 1st Eurovision I watched)

But it wasn't. She's just a brilliant singer
2011 was a pretty "meh" year (at least that's how I remember it). But it was a pretty close contest - Azerbaijan won by only 12 points. TWELVE.
Vikki P nope more than 30
You're right. I stand corrected - I wonder what made me think it was 12.
Can u react to the 3rd place in 2011 which is popular by Eric saade
Can you please react to esc 2013 Finland thats really crazy and surprising!! React also to Estonia 2015 thats my all time favorite!!!
