Corn Silage 2020 | Chopping Corn and Filling Silage Pits | Corn Silage on a Small Dairy Farm

  • In this video you can see us harvesting our corn for silage. We had 2 hectares at home and 3 hectares that we bought, about 15 kilometers away from the farm.
    Contractor came with Claas Jaguar 940, we've had 8 drivers bringing in the chopped corn, one on telescopic loader for pushing and levelling it in silage pits and two tractors for compacting.
    We filled all our 3 silage pits, with 300 tons of corn chaff on a 5,85 ha.
    We use two of our silos for winter feeding and one during the summer.
    Under corn we also have grass silage that we prepared in the spring and summer.
    Our home field is pretty steep on some areas, that's why we use smaller trailers on it.
    Corn for silage is important crop on our farm. With high yield and nutrition value provides great energy source for our dairy cows.
    Thanks for watching!

    How do u do when u provide it to ur cows

    • @farmerspov4709
      @farmerspov4709  4 года назад

      Hi. We use feeding wagon (Trioliet Gigant 700) with cutter on the back. Each cow gets around 32 kg of silage per day. We open one section and keep removing plastic daily, as much as we need. When we reach silo walls in one section, we close the exposed part of the other section with plastic, usually without any problems. Greetings from Slovenia 🙂

      The roof over silage pits is just for protection from weather and it's nice to be under the roof when loading silage during rain or snow 😃 yeah I guess it's not very common as the roof can be in the way for bigger trailers and tractors 🤔

    I'm in love with your work as a farmer, I'm from Madrid, Spain, and I envy that freedom and peace you have there.
    The drone's footage is done by you or is from some company? Love the editing and the almost crash moment hahaha.

      Thank you 🙂 no, I fly the drone, as much as I can... It would be much easier if I could find someone to film with it 🙄😄 thanks, really appreciate it 😊
