Sure does look like that. The most impressive part of this projectile is that it did not fragment at all. I can't recall testing another 300 blackout (or even 223 for that matter) that didn't fragment at least a little bit.
The obsession with shooting 1” MOA with defense ammo baffles me. If the bad guy is at the end of my hallway, 20 ft, I don’t think it will matter if I put a sub MOA group in his chest or a 5” one. I keep an SBR with a 9.5” barrel and suppressor (I call it my double stamp gun) next to my bed. It’s loaded with subsonic 205 gr A Max. This seems like an interesting defense round.
Those are Maker T-REX bullets. That guy is out of Georgia and makes great projectiles, has been doing it for several ammo manufacturers. This thing performs well, you could say better than the Barnes version, depending on what you want your load to do.
I had never heard of them up until recently, but I'm impressed with my small sample size thus far. I'm really excited for the 8.6blackout in the near future
I was going to comment that these are Makers but saw yours. I use them in 6.8 SPC and 7mm-08. Excellent results on everything I've shot with them from coyote to cow elk. They didn't penetrate as deep as Barnes of similar weight because they open bigger, but they do more damage along the way.
I have used the Barnes 110gr. TAC in my 300BLK, for the last 6yrs for Whitetail Deer. The "mushroom" is very similar and I am getting 1/2" groups all day long. They are every bit as Badass as these and cheaper. I put the Barnes 110gr TAC in front of 21gr of H110. They are deadly. Tried and proven.
As soon as you mentioned that you cannot shoot rifles in the pistol bays anymore I knew you were at Immokalee Range and Gun Club...lol. Outside of this past weekend, I am there pretty much every Sunday.
Light fast bullets like the Super Vel of the 1960s and the Lehigh Defense rounds of today are great for self defense and have great knock down and enormous wound channels without over penetration, so great for defensive use and immediate threat stopping capability!
I have to try this on white tail. The barnes 110 is very effective on white tail out to 120 yards so far. Also, Liberty Ammo 95 gr did a great on a white tail I got a few years ago. Good vid. Thanks for the info.
@@sgtawb6904 from what I’ve seen that’s not a terrible price for boutique 300 blk ammo - I paid almost 3$/shot for underwood 194gr back in May on sale for one example

Im going to look into these. I wonder what the number and performance difference would be in my 9" barrel and my 16" compared to your 10.5. I, too, am a big fan of 300blkout and also my 8.6 blkout.
According to their website it's traveling 2920 out of a 16 inch barrel and 2450 out of a 5.5 inch barrel. Mine out of a 10.3" barrel averaged 2625ish fps, so with a 9 inch barrel, I think you'd be right around 2550-2600fps.
The BA 10.5 is 1:7 twist. Given the 'hyper' light load, the bullet would perhaps stabilize and group much better with a 1:8 barrel. Would be worth testing this before making any definitive claims about accuracy/consistency!
Not deep enough. Needs more pen. I still think 110 VMAX, 110 SST/Sabres, 110 Barnes TAC, and 115 JHP are the best .300 AAC supers. Nothing beats them. 200 grain JHP is the only Subs I'll recommend running.
Can you hear much difference suppressed vs not with this load? It’s not coming through on video I assume you can because 55gr 556 is a lot quieter suppressed but by no means quiet Also I can’t believe that bullet stayed in one piece
I'm shocked that the projectile didn't fragment as well. Probably why I was so blown away. I can't believe it, but I wasn't paying attention to the sound at all, probably because it was so windy.
Accuracy looks to be so-so and penetration looks to be inadequate. Bare gel is akin to bare skin and many expanding bullets react differently when having to pass through clothing first. So ultimately the information here is inadequate to make a well informed judgement on this ammunition. IMHO of course.
This was never intended to be a precision projectile, this will do what you need it to do when on target. I'm slowly moving away from the belief that clothing makes a huge difference, it makes a difference, but not a large difference. Working in trauma, I have seen 22LR do some of the most damage. The cavitation was good and that twisting/rotation of the projectile in the gel and the fact that it did not fragment makes this a winner in my book. But I do appreciate your comment
It’s pretty annoying to watch a guy load three rounds at a time into a normal capacity magazine. Not the best video content. Load the mag then just shoot three at a time.
300Blk is my favorite, never ceases to amaze me how flexible it is for hunting ,home defense & plinking
@@chupacabra304 I 1000% agree. This 85gr round truly is a game changer to it's capabilities
That thing is hooting ninja starts dude. That's crazy. The energy transfer and concussion was on that jell was incredible. Great video Andrew.
@markgarcia5563 yeah, I was really impressed overall with the round.
Those look like they are modeled after the liberty ultra lights. A very deep cavity only using copper. Thats worth stocking up on. Really good stuff.

@andrewmconrad it probably will break up some if it hits something a little harder. Like bone. Personally, I prefer carnage out of self defense ammo.

Just stumbled across your video and I'd like to say it was very informative and concise. Really has me thinking of building a .300 BLK.

I bought an AR in 300 blackout and it is nice to see different bullets for it now if the prices of the ammo would go down.
I would definitely NOT want to be shot by one of those. That was wicked.
Question. What was the penetration depth of the 85gr "Spicy Boi" in the ballistic jell? 7 to 8 inches???

Try 95gr controlled chaos from Lehigh Defense. The 115gr controlled chaos does more damage than this, significantly. The 95gr is insane.
It looks interesting, like a little less performance than 110vmax, later opening, less accurate for triple the cost.
