Thank you so much! Yes, I agree with you I have been super lazy doing my hair during quarantine thats why I have been doing more protective styles and also its good that I am giving my hair a break! It def is a form of self care!!
I tried the applying leave in conditioner tip to damp hair and then putting a plastic cap on for 30 mins last weekend Iyda, and 😲.......... OMGoodness 😱, what a difference that made. So definitely a staple in my routine now. I”m always late to the game, but as they say, better late than never. 😊 I’ll be trying your full routine this weekend. Thanks ever so much for sharing.
I do LOC method (water combined with aloe vera as liquid, oil, and shea moisture butter for cream). I have low porosity and Type 4c hair. My protective style is wig (not glued on) and I wear twists under it. What she did was is a LCO I think.💗
Hello @Iyda Michael, I have a question. When you showed the baggy method in this video, did you already have leave-in conditioner on your hair or were you just demonstrating what the baggy method looks like before you started the moisturizing process? I wasn't quite sure when I was watching....if you could please clarify, I would greatly appreciate it and I look forward to hearing from you soon! P.S.: This is a very informative video on how to moisturize natural hair! Thanks for taking time to share your tips with viewers. Your hair is very pretty :) Take care and be safe!
Wow. It looks so healthy and soft. I am a somewhat newbie natural trying to find a good moisturizer routine! Thanks!! You gave me an idea about oil sealer😳😳😳
First I want to say you are my favorite Natural Hair guru.. you have educated me so much on my hair which is low porosity. I do have one thing to say about this video though. The Camille rose twisting butter you mentioned is not the Camille product you showed.. you showed the Camille Rose deep conditioner, so im wondering can this work too LOL
Can you clarify for me... You said you use the LCO method to moisturize your hair. You started with leave-in already applied, but then you held up the moisture milk as your L in the LCO method. Sooo you need 2 leave ins??
Sharday Lawrence I used the same leave in conditioner but for extra moisture I add in a little first with the baggy method and add more after it had some time to absorb so it’s still the LCO method! ❤️
Iyda Michael Yesss I frickin love it♥️ you also need to try out African Pride Moisture Miracle Coconut oil & Baobab Oil Leave-in Cream and African Pride Moisture Miracle Shea Butter & Flaxseed Oil Curling Cream, they have improved their ingredients and formula, very moisturising indeed♥️ ur low porosity hair is going to love it I promise you that! They even have a pre-shampoo for detangling, and it has so much slip because of aloe vera.
Super helpful as always! Could you do a video on the fenugreek seed oil you mentioned and how often you apply it? I began using fenugreek but began experiencing protein overload. Would love to see how you balance it! Thanks 💜
Yes, I forgot to mention that in the video that I will be doing a video on he fenugreek oil for a sealant and oil your scalp for a scalp massage! I have a video for a fenugreek and deep conditioner combo that was the perfect mix for protein and moisture. When I used the fenugreek paste on it's own I do experience protein overload as well so you are def right, its a matter of playing around with fenugreek to see what works best!
@@Star-tw4yy It does happen with rice water, aloe vera can also make the hair very hard if you are very protein sensitive. Unfortunately being protein sensitive means we can't use as much of these Ayurvedic herbs like everybody else. I left Henna in my hair for too long and paid the price.
@@Star-tw4yy for me, I knew when I lost my curls. I lost my curls due to the rice water. So I had to quit that & started deep conditioning by hair weekly & doing a protein treatment every 6 weeks. It has been working! Now I mixed sulfur 8, blue magic, & fenugreek powder and apply it to my scalp on Friday. Put a prepoo on my hair on Saturday & condo l continue with my wash day. I noticed I had less breakage with the fenugreek. I hope that helps
Hi, I love your tips and videos. Do you have any tips for people who have low porosity hair which is light and fluffy? My hair is the length I want it (below shoulder length when stretched), but I have to add extra hair for weight. My hair just sticks up otherwise. Do I have to use heavier products or does my hair have to grow to waist- length before it will hang down?
I’ve recently seen a video that also advised for those of us who have low porosity hair, that we should blow out our hair some to better lock in moisture. What is your thoughts on it? I’m a “new natural” and am still trying to learn how to take care of my hair
If you want healthy hair, I’d advise not to use any heat. Even if it’s low heat. Deep conditioning weekly as a new natural is important. Then using protective styles like simple twist or cornrows for a few months will help with thickness or length retention
Why is it that when I use oil as a sealant, I always have oil residue once I take my twists out? Like the oil never fully absorb, even when they are supposed to be penetrating oils. It drives me crazy and definitely deters me from using oil on my hair.
this article should help - science-yhairblog.blogspot.com/2013/06/oils-which-ones-soak-in-vs-coat-hair.html but also, there are many low porosity ppl who don't use oils. you can just use a leave in and a cream. i alternate between leave in and a gel vs leave in and shea butter but i also live in a hot, humid climate and the shea butter helps repel the humidity.
A hair chemist that I follow said sealant oils and penetrating oils have different jobs. Coconut oil is more penetrating and jamaican black castor oil is more for sealing.
You are very welcome! I don't do any prewashes, I let my hair run under the water for a bit to help detangle and get rid of some of the product and then wash my hair with a gentle shampoo (my fave is the Mane Choice Detangling and hydrating shampoo - purple bottle).:)
Thank you. Do you plan to do a review on wetline and i have some questions. Do you detangle before this stage and what kind of detangling tool did you use?
Yes, I will do a review and demo very soon with wetline! I usually just detangle with my fingers but sometimes with a wide tooth comb or a detangling brush for smoother results if I am doing a hairstyle!
Hello! I just looked up the ingredients and I see a few insoluble silicones that my hair doesn't like so I personally wouldn't use it. But they do have gentle cleansing ingredients listed.
