Thank you so much. A step by step series like this is just what I needed. I never expected to find such a detailed and in depth series like this on RUclips. I'll probably end up revisiting a lot of these videos.
Hey Dan ! I love your art ! I try perspective but whenever I do I invent a new perspective where I draw a car and the person passing my desk from the opposite side says "Cool Dinosaur" :D
@@dnl9436 :D but this dino sucks the blood when I really try perspective... I draw really stupid perspective.. :D.. so I dont draw perspective... I draw cartoons :D

These videos are awesome. For someone who’s always told himself he can’t draw, watching these is like discovering a new universe 😁 also the mechanical pencil you use looks sick I want it 🧐😍
I'm 27 and i would always just doodle around and wonder how perspective worked. I would doodle around and when doing more unnatural constructed stuff i would always wonder 'how far away am I and how do i have to draw this line to make it look real?' Now i know! Thanks! Also, for everyone having trouble with this technical way of learning perspective: I went out into nature and drew trees and stuff. Perspective doesn't matter that much when you draw natural structures. They're much less strict and can have much more different/unusual "wrong looking" shapes. And watch Bob Ross! He's good at advising how to handle "mistakes" :)
Yes, basically what everyone else says. You're awesome. I observe how your construction lines are all by ruler but when you render you restate those lines freehand. Interesting. Do you ever practice just shapes, lines or do you always make finished drawings? You should put together an online course or publish a book. For now, I'll have to be content by supporting you on Patreon.

Dan says it is a simple example of 2 point perspective but to u it look like wooowwoo how did he do that from those contruction lines ?? . Will u teach us how to do that in liitle bit slow and depth explanation ?
It is a simple example and is already an in depth explanation. Just repeat the video until you understand what he is doing. Whenever you draw something in two points perspective, you draw construction lines from where you are drawing to the vanishing points. When you follow the lines you make.
He is an architecture graduate at BlokBuild from Hull, East Yorkshire [England]. He is *from* Scotland, however. So he was born, raised and educated in the UK. He’s been drawing for as long as he can remember, but ultimately he studied architecture.
I think he learnt it in Architecture school. Atleast I did but then I didn't continue the school after few years. And there are books you can follow to learn.
Please check Marshall's Perspective lectures. He's an amazing teacher, and his approach to the fundamentals is mind-blowing! So simple, made me finally get it. marshallart.com/SHOP/all-products/all-videos/1994-perspective-drawing-series/ He also suggests some books during the lectures. Scott Robertson's How to Draw is one of them, of course. In fact, Scott published some videos on his RUclips channel, very cool (and free) stuff
Hi Ben, I may have a video covering that on the channel if I can remember. It’s surrounding mechanical perspective, this series mainly covers freehand. the video where I discuss the cone of vision etc should mention it
I love your lessons! I am curious about your accent. Can you tell me where you got it from? My husband and I are debating over what your accent might be
He has a Scottish/British accent and is from the UK. He has images and a few links about Staedtler which is a company in Nuremberg, Germany but has 150 other representatives in other countries. One link stated that he was on site in England. He also is an architecture graduate at BlokBuild from Hull, East Yorkshire [England]. This took about 8 minutes to find out. You’re right, in that, asking him is the direct answer--but he rarely comments, I haven’t actually seen him commenting at any point and I was curious myself. This informaiton is only speculation, for one--im 100% block out deaf. But this could be why there’s confusion on his accent, this happens when someone is from one place and relocated to another [even more so if a third place is added].
For reasons unknown, even when refreshing my page, I can’t edit my comment. I would have rather started off with “he’s born, raised, and educated in the U.K.”
hey man, i need to learn perspective. Having a hard time gauging where my painting is wrong when it comes to perspective. Can you take a look at it and let me know why i just cant see the right perspective?
I have a doubt..... when I tried drawing cylinders and other shapes such as prisms I was able to do so in 1 point perspective, but is it possible to do the same in 2 and 3 point perspective?
Dan, you sound so depressed and unenthusiastic. No, I do t want a fake upbeat voice. I tend to start tuning out at your tone even though your content is valuable and import to me. 😟 what if you try standing up and standing up straight while you do the voice over?
ik that this video is over a year old but the fact its completely "free" cannot be understated, and i thank you for that
What do you mean by “free”

Absolutely love your artwork, Dan! You should release a compendium of your drawings as a book - I, for one, would gladly purchase such an item
Good edited, explaining, concepts, and its just free
very generosity from you Dan.
Looking at your videos in my art class now, to help with perspective and they're wonderful! Thank you so much
Excellent again thanks Dan

Glad you are focusing on perspective! You are incredibly talented!
Thank you
Where did you learn this knowledge? That is what i am curious about.
Probably Scott Robertson's book How to Draw. It's pretty much considered the best advanced book on perspective.
I think he learnt it in Architecture school. Atleast I did but then I didn't continue the school after few years. And there are books you can follow to learn.
I know it may be late but he mentioned the "perpective made easy " book and "how to draw" I'm currently reading the first one.
you learn it in technology and in schools that are focussed on art or house designing

Hi Dan, Very knowledgable. Have you made a video of how to calculate EXACTLY where the vertical vanishing points are.

Is there a breakdown video on human body part perspective? E.g. head, arms, chest, etc in different perspectives

m yeast fave thing to do is repeating patterns like in tall buildings but i do them anyway
The video is very helpful but it’s too fast paced that even by slowing it down to 25% , it’s still too fast to keep up with the drawing process!!

your skill is awesome but too fast to follow along :((
Make a vid on how to draw in 5th point perspective
I think I'm just copying what you do.:/
sometimes my lines go diferente direction when i place the ruler vertical
