Hi! I loved the build, another idea to emphatize the switch between the two forms (speed and tank) could be to take the aaracockra race, so you can fly in your "speed mode"

    • @Haveuseenmyjetpack
      @Haveuseenmyjetpack Год назад +9

      Well….
If "emphatize" were a word, it could be assumed that it's a combination of "emphasize" and "empathize". "Emphasize" means to give special importance or prominence to something, while "empathize" means to understand and share the feelings of another.
So, if we combine these two concepts, "emphatize" could theoretically mean to give special importance or prominence to understanding and sharing the feelings of another, or to highlight the importance of empathy in a particular situation or context.

Like the idea but you can't use DEX to attack with monk weapons while wearing the armor. "You gain the following benefits while you are unarmed or wielding only monk weapons and you aren't wearing armor or wielding a shield:
You can use Dexterity instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls of your unarmed strikes and monk weapons."

I would argue that it would be better to go Loxodon, Lizardfolk or Autognome (can't remember more out of the top of my head) and putting points into con or dex to use their natural armor features, and multiclass into bladesinger because everything from armorer works with it, even lighning launchers, more synergistic, simpler and better action economy imo. I don't mean that this video is wrong by any means, because I think my build is the obvious one, but I wanted to comment my thoughts at least to help with the algorythm

Hey dude, I'm stoked to see the build drop! Overall it looks fairly solid, though I think the main problem I can see is that you don't get to use Dex for your attacks if you're wearing heavy armor? Though it could be that I'm missing some interaction with Kensei weapons.
For my own build, I went with Aarakocra for race, as that itself already means that you can swap between being slow but sturdy, or being quick and able to fly, but with less sturdiness. I built intelligence as the main stat, with the idea that at range while flying you can use cantrips to deal damage, while in melee you can use your guantlets, as you can use your intelligence for attacks with them. From there, you could take a few levels into Monk to really increase the speed you have, or you can keep going into Artificer to just gain more spells and infusions. Not going into Monk does make you a lot less stat dependent, as you can now dump all stats except for Con and Int, as you don't need to be able to wear the heavy armor with the Str requirement if you make it your Arcane armor.
Awesome to see another build done, looking forward to the next content!

A fun build for Armorers is to go Barbarian for 1 level, then Artificer for at least 3, then Wizard for 2 levels. You can now wear light armor, use a shield, choose to use Con for AC and add Dex and Int via Bladesinger. You choose to duel wield you Thunder Gauntlets, or cast Booming Blade on your Thunder Gauntlet, and act like Vi from League of Legends.

I feel like a build that would get a lot out of ditching their armor is an Int focused bladesinger wizard (x) + armorer artificer (3 or 4). For the species I would consider any with natural armor [lizardfolk, thri-kreen, loxodon or autonome], alternatively, mountain dwarf or half elf could be good for their +4 points to spread between 2 or 3 stats respectively. You're could take the heavy armor master feat at level 4 to add more value to the armored choice via damage reduction. You will have a respectable AC w/o suffering a movement penalty or investing heavily in dex or str by virtue of being an armorer. Since bladesong is limited, you can enjoy these benefits in fights when the bladesong bonuses [int mod to ac & speed bonus) are less needed. You will also have an Int based attack paired with cantrip extra attack while armored. I'd still want to have at least 16 dex for when you want to take the attack action outside of your armor and to have better defenses at that time. Would also consider adding fighter (2+) for action surge [like for exiting the armor] and the defense fighting style.
Barbarian (3 or 4) could have value from exiting the armor as well. Since rages are so limited, this lets you dump dex at 10 while maintaining a good ac when not raging. Heavy Armor Master could function as a mini rage in these less important fights. I would consider loxodon as the species for this scenario since it's natural armor equals a barbarian's with 14 dex. Defensive duelist might be a fun feat as well to get a reaction boost to you ac. Again, fighter 2+ would be nice to have since action surge would allow you to attack on the same turn you doff the armor and rage, otherwise rage has the potential to be ended early.
Fairy , owlin and aarakocra species also offer incentives for being outside of medium & heavy armor, but those incentives might outweigh the benefits provided by the armor given the efficacy of flight & ranged combat.

Very interesting build , not sure I could do a better job with this concept. But Fade away definitely has potential especially for a genie warlock being able to do a short rest in 10 min once per long rest in their bottle at 10th lvl, multi class with sorcerer to gain access to the horrible spell catnap but use it while in the genie bottle being carried by a party member and go elf to get a 4 hour long rest, and make a fun dream master build pick sleep early on. Well that is just my first thought about fade away

  • @KariFeRawri

I actually built a Monk Paladin granted the only reason the build works is because of house rules.
Monk Wraps allows unarmed strikes to be treated as Simple Melee weapons (but they don't qualify for Dueling Fighting Style)
    Half Elf: 13 S / 16 D / 12 C / 8 I / 14 W / 14 Ch
other lineages would drop Con to 10. If I knew how to get Dex to 17 and Wis to 15, I would have done that.
    6 Vengeance Paladin / 2+ Monk.
The idea is to eventually get to level 20 (probably won't happen) figure out AC issues later, but 14 Monk / 6 Paladin for high saving throws. Monk 4 +2Dex, Monk 8 +2Cha, Monk 12 +2Dex. It's just a fun build. Can't wait to play it

Well, that's a different build, for sure! And considering the restrictions you were given, that was a good job! However, you'd probably have to talk to your DM and they'd have to let you ignore the fact that Martial Arts only works when you're not wearing armor. If your DM lets you do that, perfect. If not, this build kinda falls flat, since you'd only be able to attack with your gauntlet utilizing strength or intelligence. But yeah, I think, out of monk or barbarian, the monk is the class that gives you the most versatility when paired with the armorer, in the restrictions given! Great job!

One particular hiccup with this build. You straight up can't use Dexterity for the armor's gauntlets while wearing the armor itself. I'm pretty sure it's tied to the armor itself so you couldn't wield them on their own even if you wanted to (of course a DM can allow it for creativity but that isn't guaranteed). So early on once you get the monk levels, you'll be hard pressed to make this work. Still a cool idea though.

Now, no need to invest in wisdom, can be a punchsinger, and have more juicy spell slots for the road.
But, then you'd have no need for the gimmick of donning or doffing the armor as an action since you can just have your armorer armor be light armor. buuuuut... having heavy armor, and then being able run around as a fast af bladesinger sounds cool.
    Idk, this one's hard. lol

Instead of wearing it themselves, they give it to another party memeber. This leavesyou the artificer to just go to the back lines and fight from range and give buffs. You can grab feats and stuff to make you an passable archer, but your friend that gets the armor will be a legend.
My question for you however, if you had this as guy as a party member giving you arcane armor, how would you build your vharacter to make the best use of it?

Hmmm, more of a higher level take on this. Either 17th level armorer or 3 levels armorer 9 levels bladesinger (or perhaps sorcerer or bard) for animated objects. Infiltrator (assuming bladesinger) for most of the time, with the option to doff armor and cast animated objects on the actual doffed armor (next round), you have your own animated armor monster! Along with the mending cantrip you're kinda a 12th level version of the battlesmith able to animate up to 8 other objects assuming armor is medium. Wear lots of Mr T jewellery you can ditch as a free object interaction and go to town. Sorcerer for quicken spell would be ideal, although MAD. After 9 levels of full caster do the rest as armorer to get 9th level for all the kit you can add to your animated skin. maybe, once it's animated (and assuming it can fly and hover: so no legs, so plasmoid race?) you can put it back on while animated and fly around a bit? Or get it to grapple an enemy and another buddy can cast Heat Metal on it as a combo. Alternatively get your Homonculus to ride it like a mecha. Maybe because the infusions count as separate pieces the arms legs and helmet are 5 pieces and you can put the breastplate on again as an action to hover away. Regardless, either model of armor might be able to use it's special weapon instead of just the animated objects stats, which at 12th level and a 5th level slot (or upcast) ain't breaking the game. Infiltrator with Arcane propulsion armor at 14th straight artificer (assuming you're playing at 17th level!!) could zap from range and animated gauntlets for force damage, getting around some of the damage resistance issues of the animated objects spell.

The expanded spell list is better. The proficiencies are better. The class features are better. All that plus you get a class feature that puts another fairly chunky body on the field instead of wasting a spell or feat to acquire one.
