Great video , adding a few herbs and spices would be tasty and probably most people have some already in cupboard , as you say not nutritionally sound for long term but great for a week 5 of a five week month x
I miss British food prices so much! Live in the USA now and those carrots and onions would have been about 80 percent of the food budget here alone. Saying that though, petrol and home prices are cheaper, so it evens out. Love this video, you did a fabulous job! There is a decent amount of protein in that cottage cheese, so it was a great choice. Pantry treasures can be a godsend too. I was trying to eat low budget one week and found a jar of green tomato chutney I had made the previous year in the back of my shelves, it was a game changer for adding flavor to simple cheese sandwiches, pasta sauces, etc and kept me on track. Your little man is precious!!
A couple of years ago I did this (on paper). I allowed 10p per day for herbs, spices and small amounts of ingredients. I also used other pantry ingredients costing them pro rata and some supermarket shopping. Doing it this way I managed within budget and had a desert for lunch and supper too. After all most of us have a pantry with lots of half used basic ingredients.
I have debating with myself but I have to say it Prices in UK makes no sense, I am a wee bit envious but I do love shopping in food stores there but never been to Aldi
Great video. I've just discovered your channel & loving it so far. I'm very fortunate with my food budget, but still very frugal. When the veggies are on offer like those you got we buy extra & preserve them for later times, especially ones like swede and parsnips that are generally more expensive. Your exercise is so much easier when done over a month as it allows for more variation of proteins. Still great to see that it can be done though.
nIn Australia at Aldi the cheapest store we are looking at a small bag of spuds $ 5.00. a bag of carrots $2.00 a swead $5.00 a kilo a packet meal or side dish at least$2.00 tin of tomato's $1.00.cabbage is $4.00.Spagetti $1.00 cottage cheese I dont know eggs are $3.00 oats $2.00 onions $3.00 Chicken wings$8.00 bread $3.00.
Awesome. this is my fave sort of content. Dont feel you always have to do super chaep tho, mix it up with some - average frugal budget stuff :D love it
Do you have any vegetarian meals you could share. I live alone and tend to snack more than I should but I do eat porridge, some bread, baked beans, eggs, hummus, beetroot, fish and lots of oranges.
Definitely! I usually intertwine them in my regular week menu but I am planning on a whole week of veggie ones as my daughter it vegetarian so this might well suit 🤗
How in the world are you getting carrots, onions and potatoes for 15 p? Even the "without card" price is cheaper in the UK than Italy and salaries her are WAY lower. All of that marked down food? Nope, not here.
The veg was only that cheap as in the UK now supermarkets are doing deals on veg around Christmas and Easter which is when this video was filmed. The prices are around tripple for the rest of the year and going up almost weekly or the supermarket don't have the cheaper items forcing people to buy the more expensive items or going without.
@@Jessica-5827others I’ve read have taken advantage of the Christmas prices by planning and freezing or storing properly. I missed it this year but I will def be doing that this Christmas
Oh yes, I definitely dropped on. But, there is always opportunity to get free or reduced price veg and hopefully it just gives people food for thought and some ideas they could start with 😊
@@TheBudgetMumUK The video is great. For all the reasons you mentioned. Sometimes folks just need some ideas and inspiration and this sort of video does that perfectly
You’re right, it’s not likely to be exciting g or overly nutritious but the idea behind this is if you’re struggling, as some people are, on a short-term scale, there are options to could choose one day over another 🤷♀️
That is a hard budget to aim for. You like a challenge! Your Son is really sweet, too.
Ahh thank you ☺️ I dropped on really when I went shopping in terms of deals, but hopefully gives people some
Ideas for cheaper meals ☺️

Hello lovely! Welcome 👋🏻
15p veg, easter 4 months ago, veg is not that cheap normally , only easter and xmas when shoos have excess and clsed over holidays.
Yes, you’re right! I do mention this in the video. They’re called ‘loss leaders’. It’s a great time to bulk buy, prep then freeze for months ahead 😊
I buy extras and prep and freeze - last ages xx

The food is so ridiculously low cost 😮. I’m a weeee bit jealous here in the US.
Yes - definitely cheaper in the U.K., and we’ve seen costs increasing here lately!
Utter bs try feeding a family of 5 😂😂😂
I’ll take that challenge….
Sorry no offence but doing this when veg is 15p isn't that hard to do
