I love Audrey Hepburn. I remember seeing that made for TV years ago (with Jennifer Love-Hewitt) and they did a good job explaining her life. I think too she had this ambiguous “European” way about her. She isn’t French or Swiss or British or even Belgian or Dutch as such. Two countries that despite being neighbours are very different.
I think that’s why she did so well in America, she was a kind of European elegance but of no specific country. I feel like she birthed this trope of “ambiguous Posh European” that we see all over Netflix / Lifetime Christmas movies and CW shows and in classics like The Princess Diaries that often have them come from either fictional countries or places that are republics or just part of another country. Similarly I think this is how Anna Sorkin got away with her scam. The vaguer, the better, it allows the audience (or in that case victims) to import their own story. I think this is why the Transatlantic accent was popular at the time. It’s vague but posh.
Audrey Hepburn was so elegant but in a way she could be whoever you wanted her to be. Actress, Humanitarian or Socialite. A Parisian, a New Yorker, Hollywood actress or a Londoner. Whatever was epicentre of culture you’re mind, she’s from there

Slimness is becoming more and more a symbol of class and elegance and status because so many people in the Western World are overweight (through no fault of their own, but because of addicting ultra-processed foods which are always available). It's become a sign that you are more "in control" and healthier compared to others, a desirable trait that few people can achieve and maintain. Sadly many people are slim but not healthy, slimness is achieved through unhealthy diets that don't nourish our bodies, brains and minds and often lead to bingeing, bulimia, etc. Eating more whole foods like fruit, veggies, legumes (beans, peas, lentils), (sweet) potatoes, mushrooms, grains (with no added oil or sugar or excessive salt) enabled me to lose a lot of weight and maintain my slim frame when all other "diets" led to eating disorders, bingeing/starvation, etc. If you want to become slim and healthy (which feels amazing and makes you look amazing whatever you wear) I would recommend looking up Chef AJ or Dr McDougall or pcrm, who have excellent not-for-profit RUclips channels. Please don't follow fad diets or you could become very ill indeed.
I love Audrey and so glad you covered her history and style. I have to say that I thought I knew everything there is to know about LV's history, but you proved me wrong. I definitely learn some new things about LV's history today regarding Audrey.

I love Audrey, undeniably her slimness makes her special, I don't think her face is very beautiful, she is pretty and bright-eyed and charming rather than gorgeous (expertly applied make-up helped, for example by making her smallish eyes look bigger). Because she's so slim and graceful, she looks elegant in the simplest clothes. I've never liked the Elizabeth Taylor/Marilyn Monroe type of figure, it's just not me, too "man's woman" and obvious. It's unfortunate that my mother, who loved Audrey, developed eating disorders in order to look as slim as her, and yes, she passed her disordered eating on to me and I too suffered for decades (until I overcame that by becoming whole food plant-based, but that's another story). Audrey's slimness appeals to women who want to look slender and even androgynous to feel good and please themselves rather than curvy in order to appeal to men.

Love your videos- I’d say that HipHop is the counter culture that has been commodified + mainstreamed (eg. Gucci/Dapper Dan, LV/Virgil Abloh). From a classic pov I’d look to Lauren Hill + Erykah Badu to reflect the progression.
