  • This video shows me repairing the leaky oil seal, this Perkins utilised a packing material similar to a stern gland with grease instead of a modern lip seal.

Love those old Meadows/Nicor/TMP box's....often misunderstood and nobody remembers to check the redution oil levels (not same as the main box)..........The bush drive is awesome, nothing to really go wrong and very quiet.....

I must admit they do seem to elude some. A friend of mine had his TMP rebuilt after a cruise off the River Crouch up the Thames and to Bow locks. The gearbox literally shattered.
kev who did own the brand rebuilt it. He said when we collected the box that there is a lifetime guarantee. Although I might be dead next week I am 76. That was about 6 years ago. We did laugh some.
I think the bloke is retired now. I hope he is well at his age. Nice bloke.

Yes I knew Kev, He has sold up, all the tooling, spares and rebuilds are being done up here in Norfolk. So thankfully the TMP box's can live on a bit longer.

    Great job
How much you charged to do that job?

Depends on each job. We have standard fees. If you email or watsapp images of your needs, birdseye pictures and the access to the rear of the engine I can estimate the costings.
Most of the work is getting to the seal carrier.

@@randydickson7938 Are well fair enough, like I say take into consideration the work to get into the seal. On that job it was a days work in and out. We are also Vat registered.
The seal kit isn't that much. Hope that helps
