1:29 You know it's dangerous when even Clarkson says speed is not the answer
Tristan power is
I was astonished at the rare occurence of Sensible Clarkson.
Not the first time.
You know the producers are trying too hard to make the incident seem like it's dangerous when it isn't, due to one can clearly see there's plenty of room on each side of the vehicles as they cross, and when Clarkson guestimates it's a 300 ft drop to the river when it clearly isn't.
Just another lameass reality program with very little reality.
Eh, hyperbole's always been a key part of their style of humor.
“The seatbelt won’t make a bloody difference” is kind of depressing thought
In that sort of situation, seatbelts can actually make it worse. If the fall doesn't get you, the water will.
A random Farmer as long as he drives one handed only it can‘t be so bad 😄
@@danielmonsanto8286 With such a high fall into a shallow and rocky river, the risk of drowning is negligible.
However, if the car happens to start falling off the opposite side of the driver, then without seatbelts you can open the door and jump out. So I fully agree that seatbelt off is safer in such a situation.
@@Tjalve70 Only thing is is that he doesn't have a roof, so hopefully it wouldn't tip upside down xD
@@Tjalve70 indeed, and since he was in a jeep, i woulda had doors off and one leg out, of course he was probably hugging the edge more in the drivers side, so if it did tip he would either be stuck, or get crushed..

*SPEED AND POWAH*
I felt really bad for James. This is probably the first time I've seen any of them so genuinely terrified
On the cliff edge in the bolivia special i believe is the closest to this.
@@LyftraS that was a fucking scary episode.
Richard was terrified when climbing up the dam.
If you take away the picture it just sounds like Hammonds having a very bad bedroom experience...
¨Just look at the wood¨
*intensive squeaking*
“Just have to look at that drivers side tire”
"Aaarrgghhh"
I'm shaking all over
I wouldn't worry, the chances of survival is drastically higher than if you 3 were to have built a bridge across this ravine yourselves :)
Only if there was a slope on it.

@Sabrija VucInc No bro! You need to take some lessons😂
@Sabrija VucInc Major hypocrite.
@Sabrija VucInc people in glass houses "son"..... 😂
I don't care that it's probably safer than it looks, this shit still terrifies me.
Imagine going over this in a Hummer
If you look opening bridge is different to second bridge my bet they put some wood on a rail bridge that can handle a fully loaded train
@@callmewolf4392 It would've been easier and less terrifying in a Hummer than in that hideous and absurdly big truck
I don't think it's safe in any way while driving over it with tall heavy wallowy car
Even if the bridge was solid concrete, still fffuuuk that shit.
I was genuinely scared for Hammond, the lack of music and the eerie creaking of the bridge really ramped up the tension. Fantastic scene! Overall great special, vintage Top Gear stuff.
0:11 I love how James is just turning around, not even trying to look down there and simply walks out of frame xDD
The specials are always so much fun to watch ... waiting for part 2 😊
its already out?
Thank you guys, didn't realize! But why did you release two episodes at once?
RiversideM they released it one day after part 1 so you don’t have to wait a whole week
@@RiversideM They released Pt 1 at their usual time, Pt 2 was released on 00:00 (at least here in Germany)
Im still waiting on part 2 of the buggys they done
I felt bad for May during this, as a guy that's also afraid of heights (it's more the fear of falling, I'm great in planes oddly just like James) I can obviously relate.
same here roller coasters terrify me but i can do it just for the thrill but get me in a plane with a closed cockpit and im fine im happy as everything i think its because you are so high up your brain is not registering just how high up you really are.
Can see why he was rapid across that bloody thing
And May's been up in a U2.
It's not the falling, it's the big fucking splat at the end that makes me cack.
@@falcychead8198 Yeah, for me it's being close to a ledge that makes me freak out. If I have wings carrying me through the air it's not the least bit scary, nor is being on a roller coaster since you're pretty much welded in place - It's the idea that I could slip and tumble that I find so terrifying.
That was a great episode. Thank you TGT. I also appreciated that all three got a narrating part!
Loved this special a lot... Immediately played it on the Grand Tour Game as well... Thanks a lot Amazon for producing this Series...❤️❤️
"I dont think speed is the answer"
me: "who are you and what have you done with the real Clarkson??"
I gotta say, you guys have done a great job with this season. Its a massive improvement over the previous two seasons thus far.
Thank you
The utter balls on Hammond. May and Clarkson had relatively narrow trucks, Richard was driving a huge mudder toy.
"Even though Hammond isn't accident prone..." hahaha
I'm Colombian living in the US, I'm so happy to watch this series, happy of how you talk about my country, happy to see all you showed the world, and happier that you didn't mention any thing about the Pablo guy! Thank you thank you thank you!
The guys and their bridges...
Oh wow. Thanks amazon for cutting it off at the best moment. THUMBS UP!!!!!!
This old steel railroad trestle held up 200 ton locomotives for decades, and the top deck wood looks freshly laid. Terrifying, but almost no risk of collapse.
I think the weight is not the problem, its scary becoz its not have sidewalls.
I think he was only scared because he was worried his super wide wheel span might slip off the edge
The wood is not secure and shifts, it's barely wide enough to fit the vehicles, especially the truck, and you can't see if the passenger side of your vehicle is over the edge. Also, whatever the bridge used to carry, it's a rusty old pile of metal in a high humidity environment. Piece of cake.
The wood apparently is not attached to the bridge. If they got too far to one side or they had one wheel drop off, it would get "very interesting", very fast... Normally on something like this, you would have a spotter in front of your vehicle to tell you whether you were going too far to one side...
I honestly loved this so much!
Top Gear Patagonia Special: "Sketchy bridge, anyone?"
The Grand Tour Colombia Special: "Here, hold my beer"
"Speed! I don't think speed is the answer." I like how Jeremy has two minds there for a minute.
The first time I have seen Jeremy say speed ISN’T the answer.
"Who is that clippity-clopping across my bridge?!" Brilliant, brilliant, love a Billy Goats Gruff joke from Clarkson as was also in this episode.
The bit after this when they have a fight and throw rocks at each other was so funny I couldn’t stop laughing 😂😂😂😂😭
By the way please make more specials!!!
I'm not sure I'd even be able to *walk* across that thing - too scary.
Well, luckily you're not meant to walk on it. Bridges like that only work for cars
I could but i would probably have to crawl across it
Bleack it’s not supposed to be in use at all. That was originally a railroad bridge and the span was just not removed
3:07 My mom thought I was watching porn

Surprised he didn't fall off the bridge with those words of encouragement.
"Who's that clipity clopping across my bridge?!" Lmao

Clarkson: Hammond, you will shit your pants, doing this.
Richard: I already am, watching
At2.50: I am just going to look at the wood and not below..
"That is what she said"
😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
Hammond was literally SOAKING when he crossed the bridge... indeed it is terrifying
Genuinely amazed James went through with it. Would not have faulted him at all if he simply said "not doing it....period"
Jeremy: "Speed, I don't think it's the answer"
Me: "Impossible"
"Seat belt off" reminds me of an old job of mine, I used to run vehicles up cliff top roads running supplies to base camps. Once in a while there would be hikers thumbing for a ride.
I picked up a group of tourists on my way down one day, one guy and two gals. The girls were in back and the guy sat shotgun. He was Abit of a twat and was saying I was stupid for not wearing my seatbelt.
Mind you these roads skirt cliffs that go down a good thousand feet if not more.
Upon asking me again and again why I didn't wear my belt I simply replied "my friend, if we go off this cliff. I don't want to be alive when we hit the bottom" everyone went quiet, and all I heard after that was the click of everyone undoing their seat belts. Makes me laugh every time I think about it.
What would having your seat belt on or off do with being alive when you hit the bottom?!
@@macman975 having no seatbelt means you will not be attached to the carwhen it goes, meaning that either you smash your face into some part of the car (and thus have no need to consider what happens next) or you fall out of the car entirely and hit the ground without a pesky roll cage of car in the way ( same result).
In effect being without the seatbelt kills quicker.
@@timlieu7623 I understand that. It's just the OP says "i don't want to be alive when i hit the bottom" so they all take their seat belts off.
It makes absolutely no sense!!
You're in a car that goes off a 1000ft cliff right but he's saying that taking your seat belt off will mean you're dead when you hit the bottom?!?!
You are free falling a thousand foot so why the F@CK does a bloody seat belt being on or off matter as you are in a free fall, you will be alive until you hit the bottom unless you have a heart attack or something but that still would have NOTHING TO DO WITH A SEAT BELT BEING ON OR OFF?! If he's talking about rolling down the side of a mountain then, when the car rolls to a stop at the bottom, he's saying he wouldn't want to be alive? WHY NOT?!?! The cars come to a rest and if you are somehow alive it means that you have SURVIVED!!!! so why would you want to be dead?! It's madness!.
@@macman975 the pain, the potential for permanent disfigurement, the hospital bills (if American), the fact that they may die or suffer a worse fate anyways, just to name a few
That's genuinely terrifying, kudos to you all for still taking risks like that. It makes for some bloody great television.
