They are filming the Apple TV series of it with Chris Evans at my middle school. Believe it or not I talked to him the other day and didn’t even realize it was him. (Proof they are filming a series. Look up defending Jacob filming in devens, Massachusetts.)
The mini series is a censoded version of the book. In the book Jacob clearly displays antisocial characteristics like no empathy and callousness, and there's no evidence that he cares for or doesn't care for his parents. In the series Jacob's not as antisocial as he is shy, and he shows clear regard for his parent's emotions. The ending in the series is also hugely different to the book, and again, I'd say it's softened down in the series. In the book it's clear where guilt lies though never 'proven' but the series leaves it incredibly open.
I havent watched the series yet but am going to and I keep seeing comments on defending jacob related things asking 'who actually did it' yet people who havent read the book dont realise that it is irrelevant who did it since that's not actually what the book is about
Around 1:30 the reviewer says parents shouldn't let their kids walk through woody areas because "I'm pretty sure the serial killers are there" and I was reminded of a headline news story in the region of Rochester, New York where I used to live years ago. A little kid was killed in the woods he used to walk to/from school through. One of the clues was that the killer ate the kid's lunch, except for a banana. Turns out the kid was killed by a psycho classmate who hated bananas.
also love the story, sometimes dark things happens in our life that it is painful and diff to accept, facing them is the only thing we can do,but miracles can happen'.
From what I read I think he did do it. And apparently he also killed a girl named Hope when he went on vacation. While they were on their way home from an interview the mom crashes the call which kills Jacob and on the end of what I read: Andy tries to imagine the final moments of Jacob’s life and what he would have become of if he lived. Which implies that he did do it.

I kind of wish we had some of Laurie's perspective, we kind of just watch her deteriorate and implode from the sidelines
