Hi dear. People misunderstand the use of WD40 for toilets. It doesn’t clean. What it does is prevent fecal skid marks forming in the toilet bowl ... the bowl remains slippery so no brushing needed if used at least once weekly. I don’t know how people ended up making it about cleaning when it’s really about preventing dirt attaching.
Here is a tip: take that toilet brush and using medium force, shove it in the exit hole about 15 times very quickly. This will reduce the water level. Then, WHATEVER METHOD you choose to clean that water line, the cleaner can sit on the stain with out being diluted by water. Every bit helps!
I clean the toilet bowl first with any commercial cleaner. Once the bowl is clean, I lightly spray WD 40 around the water line. The oil prevents a scale build up on the bowl at the water line. I do this about once a month. I do not use WD 40 to clean the bowl.
Thanks for that part I use it to get to rust from the holes and around the time I've never looked in the tank to afraid to and I can't stand a nasty bathroom or kitchen only way is gets like that is if I'm down with headache
I'll stick to my method: Drain the water from the toilet bowl. Sprinkle baking soda, then spray a generous amount vinegar and water solution and leave it overnight. The next morning spray some more vinegar and water and scrub the bowl with a brush. The bowl becomes sparklingly white.
You do realize that baking soda renders the vinegar inert. It literally neutralizes the acid. Just use vinegar by itself. That reaction you see when the two are mixed is quick and pointless. Once it stops, it is not effective. At all.
I like the cleaning vinegar, but my husband hates the smell so I add several drops of an essential oil such as lavender, tea tree or lemon, they are inexpensive and each has antibacterial properties. Currently I have lavender essential oil in my cleaning vinegar spray bottle and it smells great.

Same here. I'd have to fill my toilet with CLR or vinegar and let it soak for a long time. Problem is how do you block the hole so it doesn't all go down the drain? Plus it would be cheaper to buy a new toilet than buying enough CLR to fill the bowl. When you only have one toilet, you can't leave it to soak that long anyway. My toilet look disgusting from the calcium or lime that has built up and it get stained. I have yet to find anything that removes it. My understanding about the wd40 is that u use it after U clean to prevent further growth. I will b trying pb blaster because the smell isn’t as horrid.
Wrong on all points. Pb Blaster smells horrible. You have obviously never used it. WD40 is NOT a cleaner nor is it an effective penetrant or lubricant. People misuse it all the time mistaking the temporary effects they are seeing. It was initially created as a rust preventative for rocket housings. Then the automotive industry started using it for things like removing moisture from carburetors. The "WD" stands for water displacement. The "40" is how many attempts it took the scientists to get the water displacement properties perfect. So it does not break down rust and corrosion like PB Blaster or Kroil. It's not a cleaner for your toilet. It just helps to remove water from metals and prevent initial flash rust. It's not even meant for long term storage of said metals. It gives you time to put things into service or use, and then they can be properly maintained. Stop believing every idiot on the net. Your understanding is you clearly don't.
The WD is for water dispersant! So after you clean your toilet bowl with cleaner of your choice, hopefully something environmentally friendly going into our septic systems, spray the toilet bowl with WD-40 & it will help to keep stains from sticking to your toilet bowl. We have a brand new toilet and it's already getting stained! 🙁 it's a composting toilet so we can't put just anything down there. The staining is on parts of the bowl where it's not smooth porcelain, it's rough. I saw your video on putting Vaseline on your stove to keep it clean. Do you think it would work on the rough areas of the toilet to prevent staining?
Here is the winning strategy for cleaning any toilet no matter how bad it is. Use a pumice stone for anything above the water level, then pour in some muriatic acid and wait about an hour then flush. The toilet will be like brand new.
How much acid do you pour in? Additionally that stuff makes some serious toxic fumes. I would have to imagine you ventilate the room really well to avoid getting overcome by the fumes.
@@CasiodorusRex Ok I may try that. I just know when I use it around my pool that stuff makes a acid smoke cloud and I have to make sure I am upwind from it, but maybe in a toilet there is enough water to prevent that. I did watch another video where a lady flushed her toilet to get the sides wet, then threw powdered laundry detergent on the sides and waited 15 minutes, then just used a toilet brush on it and it came right off. I may try that first and if it is too much work I will try the muratic acid. Of course the acid will only clean at or below the water line.
She said "if the camera drops, don't worry, I just passed out from spraying WD40 in my toilet "🤣🤣 LMFAO girl you are silly! But you ain't lying because a lady ended up in the hospital from mixing bleach with other cleaners in her non ventilated bathroom and the fumes were just too much😩🤯
Many ladies for the past 100 years have made that mistake (maybe some men too). My mom did it once but she got out of the bathroom quick enough so no harm was done. There have been some people who were actually killed with that mixture. I got a taste of it once myself. I was scrubbing with a toilet cleaner and it wasn't doing the job. I actually flushed before I poured in the bleach, but it still managed to throw off some nasty fumes. That was the last time I ever used bleach in a toilet. Other things work better.
Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Scour Pads work better than anything that I have tried in 22 years of having a well and hard water. I usually use it with Comet or Ajax and it works without draining the toilet. You have to use elbow grease, but it gradually gets better every time you clean it. I wish that I had known about it when we first bought a home with a well. It does not damage the finish on the toilet bowl like a pumice stone.
If the Pumice stick is kept wet it won't cause damage. I have very hard water and only a Pumice stick works and no damage. And been using this method for years.
That's not the water supply. The toilet bowl is the beginning of the sewer. The water supply is in the top of the tank. It and the tank have air gaps separating them from the bowl. The only thing safer would be to flush with a bucket of water into the bowl.
This lady toilet is remarkably clean. Why waste good muriatic acid cleaning it. She could have easily cleaned it with some soap n water and a brush. Yes muriatic acid is great and within minutes you can see massive results on hard scale. Drain all water in the bowl first. Use precautions of course.
I'm sorry to see you can't even use a spray can. Obviously the product should be used in order to cover any sign of dirt or limescale and then let it act ... then with the toilet brush just give it a light scratch away AND I KNOW THAT IT WORKS. Unless the lady's toilet is ... bho I have no idea.
Ok so my scrubber slid and it worked " o k"... but good news ... wD40 on my fridge , garbage can and canisters (Stainless steel)..love it and it removes prints and all shine bright 😀
What about the dollar tree's cleaning vinegar for the toilets? I just saw your other video? I was excited to use one product now there is more? :( Thanks though:)
I've got a solid hard water ring in my toilet. It's been there for a minute...well...maybe 2 minutes lol. What can I say? I'm a single man and I'm just getting around to this whole toilet cleaning stuff. I see the WD-40 did a good job of cleaning the ring in your video, and now I'm thinking...if I can manage to clean my toilet today !!AND!! make my bathroom smell like my garage..my man card might still be valid after all this is said and done. I'm sold on the idea...Thanks!!
How do you clean black mold from the underside of the seat? I'm a woman, and first time I cleaned my new toilet and lifted the seat, I found black mold baked into the paint on the underside because the water must spray it when I flush. Any tips? I didn't think I'd have these problems now that I'm separated from my husband. Actually, I didn't have this problem when my husband and I were together. The seat must not have had a painted underside. I was shocked the first time I went to clean my new toilet.
I bought Clorox wands but they don’t work well and they’re too big to clean the exit hole, which is still disgusting. I have cleaning vinegar but don’t really know how to use it on a toilet.

Just use the proper chemicals and use them often.
Thank you for your honesty. A good try 👍
We have a brand new toilet and it's already getting stained! 🙁 it's a composting toilet so we can't put just anything down there. The staining is on parts of the bowl where it's not smooth porcelain, it's rough. I saw your video on putting Vaseline on your stove to keep it clean. Do you think it would work on the rough areas of the toilet to prevent staining?
i use wd =40 also for cleaning stainless steel items
Thank you so much for sharing
what I do is spray it and give it time to work..Make sure you get the rough spots and as mentioned give it time to work.I give it close to an hour.
The basic ingredient is Mineral spirits. Don't use if you have a septic system.
None of these products should be used with septic. If they are YOU take the risk and expense, which could be very expensive later on.
WOW 7 minutes and 16 seconds I will NEVER get back! Thanks Wisconsin HausFrau, Nice to know your hubby gives all this free time!
Wow thank you, did work .
@@starwarswannabes285 I poured in maybe a cup and just let it sit. Came back and all of that mineral deposit was just gone.
@@CasiodorusRex what about the fumes?
@@starwarswannabes285 It's not overwhelming because the acid is diluted in the water. I swear that it works.
I also use a soft Fuller “brush” and it’s amazing to clean around the rim plus the Clorox then clean the mop from the brush.
Could WD 40 be problematic for the water supply or toxic to the environment?
That's not the water supply. The toilet bowl is the beginning of the sewer.
The water supply is in the top of the tank. It and the tank have air gaps separating them from the bowl.
The only thing safer would be to flush with a bucket of water into the bowl.
I've seen Several YT videos on RV Maintenance that say NO Petroleum-based products should be used in RV toilet systems...
This is really a wonderful video....someone cleaning a toilet LOL
wonder if wd40 is good for stains on the seats
Use brick acid. Makes it look like a new loo👍
Would it be okay to spray WD 40 straight up my jaxi , would solve the problem at source
you can get low odour WD-40 now
I put it on a micro fiber rug and rub it on the tile to keep the soap scrum off in-between cleaning
I had dearrhea in the woods and my toilet seat, was a fallen tree. 😨😨 Was that a good idea, what do you think ???
I'm sorry to see you can't even use a spray can. Obviously the product should be used in order to cover any sign of dirt or limescale and then let it act ... then with the toilet brush just give it a light scratch away AND I KNOW THAT IT WORKS. Unless the lady's toilet is ... bho I have no idea.
Ok so my scrubber slid and it worked " o k"... but good news ... wD40 on my fridge , garbage can and canisters (Stainless steel)..love it and it removes prints and all shine bright 😀
I use some, a little, Clorox , straight and clean perfectly!
If it’s so easy to clean, why do you let it get that dirty?
What about the dollar tree's cleaning vinegar for the toilets? I just saw your other video? I was excited to use one product now there is more? :( Thanks though:)
Yes that is awesome ✨
It's not for cleaning it's for skid marks. A better solution is to use a non-stick cooking spray like PAM, smells less, does just as good a job.
Simple Ajax is the best
What about limes scale
I've got a solid hard water ring in my toilet. It's been there for a minute...well...maybe 2 minutes lol. What can I say? I'm a single man and I'm just getting around to this whole toilet cleaning stuff. I see the WD-40 did a good job of cleaning the ring in your video, and now I'm thinking...if I can manage to clean my toilet today !!AND!! make my bathroom smell like my garage..my man card might still be valid after all this is said and done. I'm sold on the idea...Thanks!!
Thanks Greg! 👍
Thanks for sharing
thank you
Yes I have used it in my toilet cause it makes rust in the holes were the water comes out come of
I bought Clorox wands but they don’t work well and they’re too big to clean the exit hole, which is still disgusting. I have cleaning vinegar but don’t really know how to use it on a toilet.
Try diesel oil and milk. That should work
& dolphin jizz!
Lime away is best
