I have a lazy hack that I am doing. Before I go to the bathroom, if I have to go #2, I put a layer of toilet paper in the toilet before going. It gets rid of brown marks entirely. It keeps the brush cleaner and the toilet brush holder cleaner.

Very interesting and honest video - thank you! Just one thing... If you transfer a cleaning product into another bottle (as you did here) please always remove or cover up the original label, for safety's sake. That way neither you, nor anyone else in a hurry, will mistake it for the original product, possibly with catastrophic or even dangerous, results. 🙂

Definitely a good idea to do this and it is something OSHA requires for organizations- labelling containers with the current chemical that is in it. If you have to treat someone exposed to the chemical, you are able to identify what it is in the first place. If you really want to get sophisticated (and safer) you could download the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) which can tell you how to treat exposures. Safety in use and against exposures would be worthy of its own video!

Did you put the citric acid into the tank and then clean the toilet bowl? If so, you flushed the toilet several times while cleaning the bowl, thus flushing the citric acid away with the first flush. So, the citric acid never had a chance to do its thing in the tank.

As a professional housekeeper for many years, I would not recommend using a Pumice stone on any toilet that isn't white. They do scratch. Wouldn't recommend red Kool Aid either. Very pigmented and has the potential to stain, especially if you accidentally forget it for too long. Vinegar or citric acid; but don't leave it in the tank too long. Use a scrub brush. It will eat up the rubber flapper and turn it to goo. Err on the side of caution.

I just use my cheap cleaner (vinegar and dish soap). Turn off the water (there should be a valve), flush and use a drinking glass brush. Be careful, old values may leak, get it replaced,, close the (new) valve every month to keep it working. The valves are easy to change, find a video. Use "ball valves", they last a lot longer than the "tap" style. Use the "compression" type as they do not need a torch. If you do not have a valve or it is old I suggest that you install a new one before you try to turn the "tap" style ones. Flush to clean the tank, refill and flush until the water is at its lowest then close the "flapper" in the tank then use your favorite cleaner. This way the water is not diluting your cleaner. If you have to get a plumber, check the valves under your sinks, don't forget the dishwasher and ice maker.

I've also had good success with full-strength muriatic acid but you need to take care to use gloves AND eye protection, and you need to flush immediately after dissolving the calcium stains and not allow the acid to stand on the porcelain, otherwise the acid will etch and mar the porcelain surface.

In the Wal-Mart I shop at in MN., They have small bottles of peroxide in a spray bottle. I bought 4 of them, 2bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room. Then I refill them from the large bottle of Peroxide and add a few drops of lemon or orange essential oil. I use them to clean my kitchen counters and cutting boards. All over use in the bathroom and laundry room, especially if someone has been sick and their dirty clothes were in the bottom of the hamper or piled on the floor or on top of the washer or dryer before they were washed. Also good for cleaning up after a puppy accident on the floor. Don't use on carpet unless you text it first.

Not sure if anyone shared this. I live in a hard water area and find the toilet so hard to clean, mainly where the water sits. I use a couple of denture tablets in the water for a few minutes then scrub. I also use them to clean the pet auto waterer in between fills. You can get a cheap brand at any dollar store. Also I heard you talking about using a shop vac to empty the tank. Most toilets have a shit off behind and below the toilet. Just turn to the right to turn off water and flush and the tank will be empty. Open it again to fill. If you don’t have easy shut offs it’s a good project since it’s a quick shut off when the toilet gets plugged by whatever your babies get into

Hi, Thank you for the video.
Doesn't scrubbing the porcelain glazed finish of the toilet with a pumice stone scratch the surface? Leading to worse bacteria clinging into the grooves caused by the scratches. Starting a vicious cycle just getting worse every time you clean with a pumice stone. Just saying... Doesn't sound like a good idea.
By the way, they sell peroxide bottles with spray triggers already attached in Walmart. It's in the pharmacy department, it's just a little more expensive than a regular bottle of peroxide.
My mother has been cleaning with peroxide and Dawn since she was diagnosed with asthma and COPD. Regular cleaners smell and trigger an attack, the peroxide doesn't smell, and Dawn doesn't trigger an attack. I prefer white distilled vinegar, I know it kills germs and bacteria, along with dish soap, sometimes Dawn, or Palmolive lemon and vinegar, or the Up &Up Clear unscented, no dyes. The last two don't leave sponges stinking like Dawn does. Mrs. Stewart's Bluing a couple of drops of that helps too, it sterilizes the water.
Take care, stay safe, have a nice day.

Sally Beauty sells higher strength clear peroxides which work great for cleaning applications even though they are meant for mixing with hair dyes. I usually buy a small bottle of the 40 volume and just dilute it right before cleaning with it. It is not the same as the stuff you buy at the pharmacy and should not be used for those type of applications however, so keep it separate and discard the diluted portion if any is leftover after cleaning (it will lose efficacy over time once diluted). 40 volume peroxide is 4 times stronger than regular hydrogen peroxide purchased in the pharmacy. Happy cleaning!

We were told when we had our 2nd well dug that possibly someone using the same aquafir upstream from us could have 'shared' their problem with us as our original well water did not have it. Today I discovered the metal things you put in your sink to catch things before they go down the drain are awesome for scrubbing out dried on food, but the best thing it does is gets mechanic grease and oil out of blue jeans. I washed them 3 times almost giving up and got me a 5 gallon bucket with some hot water and put dawn on the pants and yellow anti bacterial fabulouso in the bucket took the drainer dipped it in the water and took the bottom and lightly scrubbed in both directions up and down then side to side and bam no grease or oil just the blue jeans. I couldn't believe it. I was ready to throw them away.

I also use a little bit of dish soap on the wet paper. usually about 5 minutes of cleaning and I have to do this maybe twice a year. Does not harm toilet will not scratch the bowl. try it you'll love the results.
