  • World of Color - Celebrate tells the story and legacy of Walt Disney as narrated by Neil Patrick Harris and the one and only Mickey Mouse. The story starts with Walt creating Mickey Mouse and showing his evolution before moving into Walt's progression into feature length animation. The story wraps with Disneyland and remembering that it was all started by a mouse.

    At some point the outros become so elaborate that they're essentially part of the show itself. Albeit it's probably a tactic to prevent everyone from leaving at once.

    I must admit, this was one fabulous journey into the magical history of Walt Disney's life. He was one man alone with one dream that changed the whole world. He was the first one to produce an animated full length movie. And despite all doubts, it was the beginning of a new era in the film business. He had a dream and fought for it with all of his heart. He is one of my most favourite people, he inspires so many of us all over the world. He might have passed away but I am sure he knows that he's still alive to us. Walt Disney, You were one of the greatest people alive. You changed the world and you proved that dreams, as silly as the seem to others, can come true if you alone believe in it. You worked hard and it payed off.
    You're the hero of my childhood and soon to be adulthood too, and I surely will never forget:
    "It was all started by a mouse." ♥

    When I saw this live a few days ago...
    my eyes welled up during the montage of all the old films, tears began to drop at the Let It Go sequence, eyes are now streaming at Star Wars, and I friggen lost it when Cap brought his shield down at 20:15 followed by Walt and Mickey walking off together...
    Disney is what keeps me going and this show just embodies that with pure magic.

    there's so much complaining going on in the comments... the first time i saw this show it was 3 am and i was delirious but i cried the entire time. i agree that the frozen segment didn't flow well, but it was a crowd pleaser and extremely visually pleasing. i thought they did a great job celebrating walt's legacy while embracing the future and i'm sad that not many others seemed to enjoy it as much as i did.

      Jen104711 You collect the Park Soundtracks? Do you know where I could find the studio versions of both the World of Color and/or the Disneyland Forever Let It Go sequences?

    • @ImaJENationMenagerie
      @ImaJENationMenagerie 9 лет назад

      Trey Anderson™ Let me look around, I might be able to find the Winter Dreams version. I'll exhaust all of my resources... The Disneyland Forever and WOC Celebrate versions are still too new, so be patient with those versions. It may take a few months to get your hands on those. However, it could be the perfect amount of time since the last version of Winter Dreams debuted so I might be able to get a hold of that one. It's essentially the same version as WOC Celebrate's version of the song now, so... let me look around and I'll get back to you.

    More music, less narration please. I hate that they included an entire segment for Frozen just because the movie was so popular. It would have been way cooler if they had made it look like her powers were creating the various Disney characters. And I don't know if it's just the video, but the black and white does not play well on the water. Neil Patrick Harris was kind of weird in the Disneyland segments. It feels weird to celebrate Disneyland at CA Adventure, and to celebrate newer CA Adventure rides at the beginning of the segment when we're talking about Walt's historical Disneyland. All those ride segments were too short anyway.
    I really hope this is just a temporary replacement for the anniversary. The original was just SOOOOO much better, even with all the small tweaks they made since it opened.

      kamanoa21 The original version of the show didn't have a giant fireball or lights on California Screamin' or projections on the Fun Wheel or a narrative/theme throughout the show.
      Basically, people who think the original WoC was better than this need to watch it again except actually try to enjoy it without needing to find something to complain about.

    when I saw this in person a few weeks ago I went into it with really low expectations, the only reason I liked this show is because Disney show soundtracks have a certain quality about them that are iconic, the Disney choir slays every time.
    When my friends and I saw that they included Cars, we PRAYED that they would play Life is a Highway and they DID so we freaked the frack out and it was beautiful. Same with the star wars scenes, the fireball and the intro to the star wars theme is INSANE in person. World of Color will forever be my favorite show hands down.

    I actually like this show better than the original! It's by no means perfect (I could do without the Let It Go sequence and with a shorter Mickey Mouse segment), but the original WOC was all hype for me personally. I thought it was rather bland as just clips from different Disney movies, without any plot to the show. At least this show had a better theme (really Walt and Disneyland centric) and tried to tell the story of Disneyland's history. The outro to this show was absolutely magical. I was close to tears throughout the show, but the ending really got me, especially because I love the musical Smile!

    • @twist58
      @twist58 7 лет назад

      Hmm. I know Fantasmic! had a plot, but World of Color never had a linear story at all. They're basically segments of Disney films over the years that are grouped and pertain to a certain theme for each.

    The last Disneyland song that plays during the outro is a little intense for singing about a theme park.

    • @HermioneLMS
      @HermioneLMS 8 лет назад

      It's a real song from a musical called Smile. The character who sings it had neglectful parents and a lonely childhood, and her only solace was watching the original Disneyland television show and dreaming about going there. It's written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, so a nice tribute to him, too.

    Whether you like that "Let It Go" had a whole segment in this or not, you have to appreciate that they _at least_ used the *"Winter Dreams"* orchestral version of the song. It's my absolute favorite rendition of LIG, and at first I thought they were just using the normal version, which had me upset. As much as I love Idina Menzel, I'd even be happier if they just had the instrumental of that song playing with clips from various other Disney movies playing, no singing. At least it'd share the time with other favorites instead of hogging a whole segment and being blatantly obvious. Oh wells.

      Longhairbear Yeah, and they just copied the Let It Go section from Winter Dreams World Of Color. Pretty lazy for being a complete "new" show

    • @loonercrazy
      @loonercrazy 9 лет назад +4

      Nick M They did that on purpose because Winter Dreams will not be back this year with the 60th going on. And to all of you negative posters about Let it Go. Truly LET IT GO! To the kids in the audience it is still a highlight for them, so not all shows will 100% cater to your freakish Disney desires. Gee whiz!

      Longhairbear Nope. Let It Go is one of the most epic, empowering, and emotionally raw songs of this decade. Especially this version that utilizes a full orchestra and heavier percussion. I'll listen to that a million times over anything that is top of charts right now and still knock down any comments who complain about it being over played. It's GREAT music. If you can't hear/see that, LET IT GO and move on to something of lesser significance!

    It was good but not nearly as good (or emotional) as the original show. It lacked big "show pieces" except for Frozen and Star Wars. It was mostly a highlight show of different things that lacked a lot of well known songs from the films. Was hoping for new "show pieces" for newer movies and movies not used the first time. Where is Big Hero 6? The biggest shock was leaving out Inside Out. I mean, each of those characters are so brightly colored they would be perfect!

    • @raccoon1820
      @raccoon1820 8 лет назад

      +Derek Andersen This show actually premiered before Inside Out did. And yes, SW VII hasn't come out yet, but they know that there's a lot of hype surrounding the movie. I doubt they knew how well Inside Out would do in general when designing the show.

    I agree OathOfTheThirteenth. We were talking to one of the Imagineers of the show, and they never intended to have the whole frozen Let It Go Song in it. The Executives forced them to take out a section of the show to put that song in. I mean, a little clip of the movie is fine, but when the whole Let It Go song is in every show, it gets ridiculous.

    Disneyland Resort should make a 10th Anniversary special show of World Of Color to celebrate the tenth anniversary of this classic Disney California Adventure nighttime spectacular and its seasonal overlays, its Chinese new year pre show and its recent event exclusive halloween show "Villainous"

    I'm amazed at all of the vitriol people have about this show. I've seen the show twice already. As an AP holder, I will prob see it a few more. The major thing the video can't capture are the fire bombs that send a big plume of fire 50 feet into the air. I agree the show didn't flow well but overall it's not awful. I just couldn't figure out how Radiator Springs got into a montage about Disneyland.

    It's strange that the version everybody hates is the one I love the most, and the one that everyone loves (the original) is the one I found completely boring.

    Is Mickey’s face on the wheel an LED screen? I thought it used to be made as painted part. But seeing this version, it seems that the face is a screen rather than beam projection.

    • @ptran3641
      @ptran3641 4 года назад

      Ace Seongmin Kim during this specific world of color, part of the show included Mickey and Neil Patrick Harris being projected on the wheel so before the show starts they put a screen up. Mickey’s face is definitely painted on the wheel.

    You know, after watching this show a second time, it really isn't that bad. I could do without the Frozen segment and more emphasis on the creation of the park, but other than that this show really does try to hold true to show everyone what Walt Disney had accomplished throughout his life and how much of an impact its not only had on himself, but we who grew up to know and love all Walt has created as well.
