  • How to make Basboseh/ Basbosah cake
    First step
    Prepare your oven tray first with parchment papar or some ghee/ vegetable oil
    Second step
    Making sugar syrup
    1 cup of sugar
    1 cup of water
    A few drops of lemon juice
    Rose water ( optional)
    Let it boil for 1 to 2 mins maximum and then turn off the heat and put it aside
    Third step
    Making the cake mixture
    1, 3/4 cups of semolina
    3/4 cup of vegetable oil and ghee ( remember you can use only vegetable oil)
    3/4 cup of sugar
    3 eggs at room temperature
    Vanilla
    1 tin of thick cream 170g
    170g of Yoghurt ( if you don't have yogurt use butter milk instead. You can use milk but add a little bit of lemon to it and leave a little bit then use it instead of yogurt. We use yogurt because it's sour so it gives this cake a fluffy and soft texture.
    1,1/2 tbsp of baking powder.
    Bake in a preheated oven at 180c until the sides have got a bit of colour.
    Fourth step
    Making pouding
    1 liter of full fat milk
    1/2 cup of corn starch/ flour
    1 tin of thick cream ( optional)
    2 tbsp of sugar
    Rose water or vanilla extract ( optional)
    A little bit of cream cheese ( optional)
    Stir until it boils and becomes thick.
