    INGREDIENTS
    Basbousa Batter
    Semolina - 1 cup
    Desiccated Coconut - ½ cup
    Oil - ½ cup
    Yogurt - 1 cup
    Egg - 1
    Baking powder - ½ tsp
    Sugar Syrup
    Sugar - 1 ½ cups
    Water - ½ cup
    Lemon juice - 1 Tsp

    PROCEDURE
    STEP 1 - Sweet Syrup Preparation
    Add ½ cup water to a pan
    Add 1½ cups sugar
    Add ½ Tsp lemon juice
    Add a pinch of salt
    Mix till sugar dissolves
    Allow to boil
    Sugar syrup is ready
    Keep aside allow to cool down
    Meanwhile, we can prepare basbousa batter
    STEP 2 - Batter Preparation
    Add 1 egg to a bowl
    Add ½ cup sugar
    Whisk well
    Beat untill it change to pale color
    Add ½ cup oil
    Add 1 cup yogurt
    Combine well
    Add 1 cup semolina
    Mix well
    Add ½ cup desiccated coconut
    Add ½ Tsp Baking powder
    Combine everything well
    Grease a baking pan with melted butter
    Pour prepared batter to greased pan
    Spread batter evenly
    Smooth out the top
    Gently tap the dish to avoid air bubbles
    STEP 3 - Baking
    Place the baking dish in preheated oven
    Bake for 20 minutes at 180°c
    Bake untill top turns golden brown
    STEP 4 - Soaking & Serving
    Pour earlier prepared sugar syrup over hot basbousa
    Allow to soak for atleast 30 minute
    Cut into desired shapes
    Garnish with powdered pistachios or dry nuts
