- Weather is a dangerous, complex, and not well studied topic. Weather is a causal or contributing factor in far too many general aviation accidents.
Check out this country-wide weather analysis from the perspective of a general aviation pilot. We talk about all of the key pieces for a complete weather briefing. Utilizing these steps, tips, and tricks, you can confidently go into any flight knowing that you have an in depth understanding of your environment.
You can get the AeroSafe Weather Briefing Checklist at www.gilbertaviation.com/AeroSafe
Please note that by the time this information is filmed, edited, and uploaded, is it expired weather information. I am a flight instructor, but I am not your flight instructor. For the most up todate weather information, ensure that you obtain a current weather briefing, consult a local CFI, and/or call a weather briefer.

Another great video, Erica. Thank you for taking the time to put together these awesome weather tutorials! Especially as a newbie pilot, I have little confidence in “reading” weather, but am learning with each of your lessons 😊. Keep it up!!
Thank you Cheryl! I appreciate you so much for continuing to watch
Okay, I love you. Thank you for this super helpful video and for the resource.
Thank you. This kind of comprehensive information can save lives, especially in the GA world.
Glad it was helpful! That is the goal - to help save lives and improve aviation safety for us GA pilots.
Love this channel, it’s all about weather, you do a great job thanks
Informative as always, just disappointed that brisket didn't make an appearance. Those MVFR conditions over Northern Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio is what we had here yesterday and why I got to do my first real IMC flying :)
Not to make you jealous, but the brisket was fork tender! Erica is an amazing cook!
Thank you for continuing to watch, Alyssa! How was your first IMC flight? Were you solo? My first flight post IFR rating was with passengers (my mom who commented here too) and it was probably a bad decision to be honest.
Nicely done. Im working and listening so I will come back to this when I'm just listening.
Thanks for listening
Excellent Video Erica! Keep up the great work.
Thank you! Will do!
Love this. Just a suggestion...is there a way for you to increase the size of your cursor to make it more visible to us? It's a little difficult to pick it out sometimes which makes following along with you tougher. Thanks for what you do!
Great suggestion!
❤
Gr8! Tnx.
You bet!
Great as always….thank you! KOKC
Thanks Rance!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I am pretty weak on weather.
You aren't the only one, Jeff. That's why I made this channel. If you ask 100 pilots "What is your weakest knowledge area?" a vast majority of them will say weather. And it is one of the things that could kill us most quickly. Let's work together to fill our knowledge gaps!
Missing your content…I hope all is well. Best wishes KOKC
Thanks for continuing to tune in, Rance.
Nice video! What are the black dashed lines on the Surface Analysis chart? They were coming from the Low pressure system. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen that before.
Great question, Jill! I am actually not sure. I searched lots of different NOAA legends and couldn't find an answer.
