I like how DYKG and Shesez uploaded a video related to Mario's 35th anniversary on the same day. DidYouKnowGaming uploaded a video discussing secrets of Super Mario128
Theres a couple of things that weren't mentioned but I do find interesting. In bianco hills in missions one and two if you look at the water that has a reflection of the windmill you can see the piranha plant head generator on the side of the windmill but only in the reflection. It was probably forgotten about and not caught but still interesting. The M pictures you use to travel to gelato beach and ricco Harbour have the wrong details in them if you look long enough. The ricco Harbour one has a barely visible shot of the old pinna park design. The gelato beach one is easier to see. The sand bird building has columns which is not present in the final game. If you look at ricco Harbour from bianco hills the helipad is nowhere to be seen and has a walkway in the shape of a square. Perhaps that's where gooper blooper would of been fought in a older build. Sticking with ricco Harbour if you look at the island found in delphino plaza from ricco Harbour it has a warp pipe on it instead of a basket. Lastly when you finish the game a land on the island, pinna parks windmill is red in colour which also happens in the cutscene with mecha bowser rising.
The mirrors you have to stomp to remove enemies and line them up also provide inaccurate reflections, but it's impressive they got any reflection at all on gamecube.
Hey Shesez! there's another strange thing I found well playing Mario 3D all-stars, you can see this secret during the moment when Delfino Plaza is flooded. if you go over to the prison, bell tower and look inside the window of the cell you can see one of those manhole cover things. as far as I can tell it's only there during the flood and I don't think it actually works buts strange none the less.
Are you talking about the one to the left when you spawn on delfino island? Because that manhole is definitely required in game to get a shine and is 100% accessible
6:26 "Once you get up here, you can see all the boxes, including the guy that runs the minigame." I like that this implies that the guy himself is a box.
A manhole is only the opening to what's inside. Which in this case is sewer pipes. In Mario Sunshine, there are pipes that stick out of the ground and there are pipes that are under manhole covers.
the reason why developers are placing things under the map/out of bounds is that just spawning them into place without placing them in the world would need reading speed from the hard disc and some computing power. for a few things that might be okay but imagine spawning 200 enemies at once. especially on weak hardware that would decrease the performance of the game. this is called "pooling"
i don’t expect a reply since this is an older video, but ive only seen one comment about this. did i play a different game from everyone else? lol you clean the teeth not the eyes of the eel. i don’t even know what that animation is of the goop in his eyes? can’t find anything when i tried to research this, idk if it’s unused or what, but honestly don’t know or remember anything about this.
I love how you used the term "cardboard cutout", then said "if you're not familiar with the term" and proceeded to explain it with technical jargon instead
Watched the video from beginning to end. Hope this helps with the algorithm. Such a great episode, saw a lot things I've never seen before and I've seen quite a few Mario Sunshine videos.
17:56, Considering the colors on that bottom face always match the colors used for the goop, I would guess that the UVs for that bottom face has a size of 0 making it use a single pixel of whatever texture is assigned to it. But because the texture/UVMap itself is animated this means that the bottom face "changes colors" even though it's technically not doing anything different from the rest of the faces which are properly UV Mapped
Mario Sunshine is probably the most decisive 3D Mario, but no matter what you think of it, this game's development and unused content are fascinating! Thanks for the great work as usual!
Multiple things can prevent a video being made for a game (which are not specific to Ubisoft, these are general points), like... 1) Some companies don't appreciate unintentional use of their games, such as Nintendo's takedown of the Animal Crossing New Horizons video (yay for that being disputed) 2) There might not be enough content to make a whole video after all 3) He just might not see this comment I would suggest commenting nicely in each subsequent video suggesting it again :)
18:07 you *can* take a good look at this underside in normal gameplay, the goop piranha that guards the entrance to Ricco Harbor has it quite exposed if you look under the board.
Fun Fact: KUG has a hitbox that shocks Mario, and you can actually get shocked by it by going out of bounds, this usually ends up killing Mario because it gives the game time to realize he's out of bounds, similarly, you can also speak to the out of bounds Toad which usually also ends up killing Mario, which brings up a glitch of Mario dying while talking to someone
Likely, the bottom of that gooey piranha plant is just a one-pixel wide portion of its UV map stretched across the whole face, which is why when it animates with that curvy magenta and yellow texture it shows up as one solid colour, because it's a tiny one-pixel map stretched across its surface.

8:17 SO THIS IS INTERESTING! This is the EXACT Same FACE As the Unbeatable RUNNING MAN in Ocarina of time, They DEFINITLY used the artwork and recolored the skintone of the character! This is So CEWL! Thankx for the episode i REALLY enjoy it so far :D
Me: yeah I have a hose
Shesez:

The Super Mario RPG music used in the background of this video made me very happy :D
when you manage to get the folks most known for guesting other people to guest on your own show. well then, neat
3:19
If that shoe showed signs of being wet, would you go through with the sponsorship?
7:47 I don’t get why you don’t show more of it. I’d love to see full zoom outs and exploration of low poly areas
You can actually get inside the out of bounds rooms for the blue coin exchange and box break game on your own! Also there's something you can do so you can roam around the invisible plaza.
I could watch an entire episode of you just showing the rest of the island at each map.
Follow me on Twitch and I'll do exactly that this friday
I like how DYKG and Shesez uploaded a video related to Mario's 35th anniversary on the same day. DidYouKnowGaming uploaded a video discussing secrets of Super Mario128
Hi found you again lol
@@MWSylveon Hi! You did! lol :3
Very interesting stuff indeed, I’ll have to check out that first one!
The mirrors you have to stomp to remove enemies and line them up also provide inaccurate reflections, but it's impressive they got any reflection at all on gamecube.
@Michael Phillips dude even wii games shied away from reflections, they're hard to pull off.
@Michael Phillips Yeah well I didn't say they were impossible, I said they were impressive.
That's the best animated intro I've seen in quite a while! Good work!
Thank you very much, good sir!
Hey Shesez! there's another strange thing I found well playing Mario 3D all-stars, you can see this secret during the moment when Delfino Plaza is flooded. if you go over to the prison, bell tower and look inside the window of the cell you can see one of those manhole cover things. as far as I can tell it's only there during the flood and I don't think it actually works buts strange none the less.
Are you talking about the one to the left when you spawn on delfino island? Because that manhole is definitely required in game to get a shine and is 100% accessible
6:26 "Once you get up here, you can see all the boxes, including the guy that runs the minigame."
I like that this implies that the guy himself is a box.
Hey if I was chilling out on a roof on a summer day and saw a floating camera, I'd chase it too.
Shesez: “Let’s take a look at these critters.”
Also Shesez: BIRDS!!!!!
Diggin' that you used Mario RPG music in the background
diggin that you dug it
At 19:50 you can see the yellow toad running in the water under the bridge where you enter pachinko
I really appreciate all of the Mario RPG music in this episode.
17:12 Shesez teaches us about the birds and the bees
The "G" in "KUG" probably means "graphic", so "KUG" would mean "kuribo graphic".
(5:25) And you STILL get the fruit back!!!
Il Piantissimo looks very similar to the postman from Majora's Mask
I think he might even have the same face texture
We all knew piantissimo looked exactly like that running man from ocarina of time
Those aren't pipes Shesez. Those are Manholes. As a matter of fact, the Plaza has several pipes. Which lead to levels.
Came here to say the same
13:22 My guess is that it used to be a third area you could move to to select options, but then they didn't need the space
I love how you used the term "cardboard cutout", then said "if you're not familiar with the term" and proceeded to explain it with technical jargon instead
Besides, isn't the real term "Billboard"?
@No Theres multiple terms for many things within the industry.
I wonder what the Piantas and Nokis look like when they are sucked into a pool of goop...
Those green birds look like they have a potoboo on their head (AKA: the fire droplets)
Can't believe it took until 16:49 to get to the birds, @Shesez! lol Always gotta cover those birds
The water shot from Flood is actually a 2D texture? Has my life been a lie?
*L Oh L*
14:50 I think the box under shadow mario was used for positioning him. i am programer so thats what i think.
Watched the video from beginning to end. Hope this helps with the algorithm. Such a great episode, saw a lot things I've never seen before and I've seen quite a few Mario Sunshine videos.
That’s so cool that there’s a whole ass working enemy in the game that isn’t even in the game
L0l, indubitably..!
Never clicked on a video faster!
9:26 "it's a little too traumatizing for children" *meanwhile yoshi's island having a fight inside a freaking frog*
Shesez and DidYouKnowGaming, a crossover more ambitious than Infinity War.
You're damn right.
I've always loved seeing the other areas in the background.
*Yes..!* 😍
Sunshine is awesome, can’t wait to see the episode
OH MAN! You got DidYouKnowGaming on here?! That's seriously cool!
Tony stark is Mario. big mustache+strong+red suit
The camera in this game likes to do its own Boundary break
*L○L*
1:48 love that animation so much.
That intro 😍
Thank you 😁
Mario Sunshine is probably the most decisive 3D Mario, but no matter what you think of it, this game's development and unused content are fascinating! Thanks for the great work as usual!
why don't you ever do any Ubisoft games? I bet there's a lot of unused content in those Prince of Persia games, especially the 2008 one
+1 for this!
Multiple things can prevent a video being made for a game (which are not specific to Ubisoft, these are general points), like...
1) Some companies don't appreciate unintentional use of their games, such as Nintendo's takedown of the Animal Crossing New Horizons video (yay for that being disputed)
2) There might not be enough content to make a whole video after all
3) He just might not see this comment
I would suggest commenting nicely in each subsequent video suggesting it again :)
18:07 you *can* take a good look at this underside in normal gameplay, the goop piranha that guards the entrance to Ricco Harbor has it quite exposed if you look under the board.
5:01 Todd on drugs!
Sponsorship ends at 3:37
Likely, the bottom of that gooey piranha plant is just a one-pixel wide portion of its UV map stretched across the whole face, which is why when it animates with that curvy magenta and yellow texture it shows up as one solid colour, because it's a tiny one-pixel map stretched across its surface.
You didn’t even say that il piantissimo is the running man from ocarina of time/Majora’s mask
I think the white square is probably how they set the directional light for the environment
underrated comment
