I just want to say thank you for your vids. My baby girl (2 yrs of age) has 4b hair and I was running out of ideas. She sits very well with distractions and allowed me to do the threading. It came out beautiful. I am going to always teach my daughter NATURAL IS BEAUTIFUL AND HEALTHY!. I wished I would of went natural in my early years.
OMG, I love you! You are so hilarious! I can so relate, because my dad's side of the family is from Liberia and you sounded like my aunts speaking like that. Girl, now I want some fufu and pepper soup!
@morgank98 Ha ha! :) I had the front in twists and the back in Ghana braids for a while, and then I took out the Ghana braids and put in about 15 big twists and left them in over night. I then untwisted and separated. So the Ghana braids stretched out my hair before I put the twists in.
Love this, and love the impression(s), as always. Such a simple and practical approach to moisturizing before styling, yet I've never tried it this way. Thanks!
@missfavoured Ha! I'm going to do a vid on it, but for now I go between Organix coconut milk shampoo and Pantene Relaxed and Natural Moisturising shampoo and conditioners. I also sometimes use Coconut Sublime Conditioner. Honestly, I'm not really loyal to any shampoo or conditioner. I find that keeping my hair moisturised and in protective styles is the key. For a leave in I use Giovanni's Leave in Conditioner and seal with coconut oil or my shea butter mixes. :)
@NaturalNoni Ouch! Sorry to hear that! I hope she was okay. Yes, I started to put beads in their hair at 3 yrs old. The things I did that may help: I only used 2 or 3 little beads per braid, that were only secured tightly enough to keep them on the braid, but any force and they would just slide off. Also I only put beads on at the ends of ponytails, so their hair is tied back and less likely to catch on anything. It also makes it harder for them to play with and tug on. I hope this helped!
@belverbears Thank you for taking the time to comment. ! I'm so glad I could make you feel better and I hope you are up and well now. I would love to hear if you try African braiding on your sister's hair. :) x
@Myimani lol. You know some hair types do not do well with Shea butter, so I understand. You'll never know until you try! My shea butter mix is probably about 30-40% coconut oil, so it's not as heavy as shea butter by itself. You might want to try that. If it doesn't work, you should keep trying with lighter oils. Coconut oil on its own is a good one, because it also penetrates the hair really well. I'm going to do a vid on how I make my shea mix really soon. x
@wilsonkia Aww, that is awesome! I wish the same too. Can you imagine where our hair would be now if we did? Thanks for watching. I'm glad the videos helped. x
@mbjlhj Thank you so much! I did about 15 large twists, left them in overnight, untwisted and then separated each twist out two or three sections. Thanks for watching! :)
@missthis897 Thank you! The great thing about doing the deep condition with Shea butter is that you don't have to rinse it out, Yes my daughter, bless her heart. She wanted to read a story to our "subbie family" :).
@myzzio Thank you! From the beauty supply store about 10 years ago, so I don't remember how much it cost, but It's called 'Gold N Hot heat conditioning cap'. :)
@Myimani Thank You! Yes, it is a twist out. I've done it with mine using EVOO before and it worked pretty well too. Gotta love fat shiny twists! :) Let me know how you get on. X
Hi I really love your vids and some funny spice u add to it. I would like to know which are some other protective styles for 4 yr old kids and older with a very short hair. Thanx
hillarious video. loved ur uncle impersination. love the way you care for your girls curls even better. we need more mom like you. your girls are in a highly favored position. remain blessed.keep the vis coming.very encouraging to see
@tiffanyjay1211 Thank you! A lot of people have asked me this. I have a couple of versions that I use, depending on the application. The main ingredients for both are Shea butter and coconut oil. I have another protective style coming up, but my next vid will probably be a demo on how to make it.
@chi4maya2 Hi! Like Myimani, I didn't start DC with a heat cap until my youngest was about 4. When they were about your daughters age, I would dampen clean hair, with a spray bottle and water and rub in some coconut oil (or sometimes Shea butter or olive oil) and put on a soft shower cap on and let them run around with that on for a while or sometimes I'd do it at night and have them sleep in it. You may want to try that. Thank you so much for watching xx
@yattamook Thank you so much! That's so good to hear. No problem, I am working on getting a vid out on what I put in my shea butter mix. Thanks for watching! :) x
Love the impressions! I really look forward to your vids; they are so entertaining. Also want to thank you for this idea. I normally don't deep condition my 4yo dd's hair because once we get through all of the washing and conditioning, I don't feel like immersing her in water yet again. I like this dry method and I will definitely be using it on her next wash day.
@mojitochica I usually do a deep condition every time I wash their hair, which is about every other week. As for daily moisturizing, it depends on what style they are wearing. The less of a protective style such as free two strand twists, then I'll moisturize daily, but if it's in an African threaded style where all the hair and ends are tucked away then I really don't use anything until I take the style down, after a week.)
@caprimomx2 Thank you! I feel exactly the same way. The thought of going back to rinse out a commercial deep conditioner was too much. This way you don't have to rinse it out. :) Thanks for watching and posting. x
@MrsAshley21 Great! I make the Shea butter mix myself. It's really simple. I'm still editing a step by step vid on how I make it. Hopefully I'll have it up soon.
@GirlsLoveYourCurls I just discovered your channel today, and I absolutely LOVE your format. I think you are hilarious, and very interesting to listen to. I've gone through several of your tutorials, and plan to try the African Threading on my 6 year old. It is refreshing that you inject humour in videos, so I'm being entertained while being educated. Please keep up the great work. Your daughters are beautiful, and I love their hair (yours too). Thank you so much!
@Myimani Yes, I would play around with the amounts. Sometimes it takes a little trial and error before you get the right combo for your hair. Try blending the shea butter with some light olive oil, if you can't get hold of coconut oil. I've done that too and it worked really well. :) x
oooo, your daughter is soooo lucky! Mommy takes great care of her hair and she makes it enjoyable too! you can see your daughter is having a fine time, good job Mommy:-)
Your skits are hilarious! I love watching your videos! I discovered them today and I think I've watched 6 or 7 of them already. Thanks for all the great information! God bless!
@daisyf2hy Hi! You know I've never used Cantu Shea Butter, so I couldn't tell you for certain. When I deep condition/moisturize I like to use products that are as natural as possible, because I know they ingredients are going to penetrate the hair strands. When I've run out of Shea butter I have used olive oil and coconut oil too. Hope this helps.
Lmao!! I love your videos man, your uncle is too funny..and welcome back. Your twistout in the intro was flawless!! And great job taking care of little one's hair! :)
Hello Nadine thank you soooo much for your videos. I really enjoy all of them and I have the full pack Shea mix and African threading. The result on my daughter are amazing. How often do you deep condition?
@ThecuteSarah09 I try and do this after every wash and I usually shampoo their hair every other week. I guess I get it to about an inch away from the scalp? I concentrate mostly on the ends, because that's furthest away from the scalp and the natural oils that come from the scalp and protect their hair is only able to get so far down the hair strands.
Although my family is from Haiti they act like your impressions and the accent is different but the cadence is soo similar. It tickles me, thank you :-)
i love your videos. You are an inspiration to me. Your skin and hair is gorgeous. Please share or even make a video about your skin (face) care regimen. Are you wearing foundation in this video? Do you wear makeup at all? I want to achieve a natural glo like yours
Great videos! After using the shea butter mix and coconut oil to deep moisturize, and putting the girls under the heat cap, do you rinse the mix out before styling?
Your hair looks great!! I loved the intro, your editing is soo creative. The impression of your uncle was too funny! Great deep conditioning method. Ihave never thought to do it with shea butter. YOur daughter is too cute with her books.
This is my first time to your channel. I like the way you take care of your daughter's hair, it's similar to the way I care for my own daughter's hair. I'm definitely subscribing, maybe I can gain a pointer or two! :-)
hello hun! so good to see you again, you are looking so well, hope everything is going well with the baby. Your hair is looking so pretty! the uncle is so funny! fantastic video and your little cutie is too adorable!! :)
@mazda62617 I’m sorry my format isn’t to your liking. I'm not sure if you watched that far, but I do have a demo on how I deep moisture our hair after the skit at 4:48, so you can skip right to that section if you’d like. Just to warn you, I don’t usually jump right into the main tutorial on a lot of my videos, so my channel my not work for you, but thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
oki tried it last night when I steamed. i used way to much shea butter and actually steamed then braided my hair in loose plaits and rinsed them. Then I took them all out and put some leave in;in and plaited again. i still have too much shea in my hair but I love it! For the most part my hair is soft, but the sheen was amazing and my definition. I think I won't use this as a DC, but I think I may just use is as a leave in that I steam in or something. Just have to tweak it is all.
lol @ ur random uncle! what a great idea with coconut oil and shea butter mix. i can already tell this will be a hit for me. do u apply anything else to the hair when u style? or is that it
Wow!!! I wish I knew how to deep condition my own daughter's hair when she was little. Also, the threading videos are super. What did you earn your degree in? Please keep the videos coming!!!
@GirlsLoveYourCurls okay thank you so much, and can you tell us how you decide which version you use for which application. Or how you decide what to use for each application. I have two daughters one with 4b and the other is 3c, mine is 4c (Ithink). So your vids are very useful......Thanks again!!!! I am glad I found your channel
@goodessarts3374 You are so welcome. Yes, you're right. I think most 1st generations that were born somewhere other than where their parents originate probably experience similar interactions.
@cgustave1 Hello Thank you! This was a twist out that was a few days old. At night I part the twistouts into about 8 sections, run my hands over them with some Giovanni's direct leave in conditioner, seal with shea butter mix and then two strand twist. Doing this helps my twist outs last longer. :)
