May I just take some time and admire how well crafted the translation is? "Terra incognita" - this is honestly breathtaking. Amazing lexical choice there.
As for Lisa, she definitely improved since the first movie came out. Much more fitting and I feel she's gained more control over her voice here, while still delivering an expressively heartfelt performance (like her version of Let It Go). I'm having a hard time spotting an Elsa that isn't great, and Lisa is no exception. She's phenomenal here.

    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah-Ah-Ahh
    I can hear you, but I won't.
Some look for trouble, while others don't

And ignore your whispers which I wish would go away, Oh oh oh
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah
    Oh oh
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ahh-Ahh
    You're not a voice.
You're just a ringing in my ear
And if I heard you which I don't
    I'm spoken for, I fear
Everyone I've ever loved is here within these walls
I'm sorry, secret siren but I'm blocking out your calls!
I've had my adventure, I don't need something new
I'm afraid of what I'm risking if I follow you
    Into the Unknown
    Into the Unknow-own
    Into the Unknown-oh-oh-own
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah-Ah-Ahh
    What do you want?
Cause' you've been keeping me awake.
Are you here to distract me, so I make a big mistake?
Or are you someone out there, who's a little bit like me
Who knows deep down I'm not where I'm meant to be?
Everydays' a little harder as I feel my power grow,
Don't you know there's part of me that longs to go
    Into the Unknown?
    Into the Unknow-own
    Into the Unknown-oh-oh-own
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah
Are you out there? Do you know me? Can you feel me? Can you show me?
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah
    Ahh-Ahhh-Ahh-Ah

Wow, this is fantastic! I first saw this a few months, and loved it. In the meantime, a lot has changed, of course, but about a month ago I began learning Norwegian, after having totally forgotten about this video. l found this again today, and to my surprise, I actually understand a good amount of it!!! Now this already great song and video is even more enjoyable!

I always watch this in Norwegian with English subtitles on Disney+, despite the fact I only understand English. This is because I prefer the setting’s main language for realism, even though the whole point of foreign language dubs is to allow non-speakers of the movie’s original language to understand what the characters are saying.

    • @FlamSparks
      @FlamSparks  7 месяцев назад +2

Matter of fact, if you're looking to watch this movie a bit more immersively, you should go for Sami instead. Which is an existing dubbing, made specifically for this movie.

Comments for "Let it Go" were turned off, but one thing I absolutely love is how the Norwegian-English translations give you so much more depth and perspective into the lore and character.
In "Let it Go," for example, you have Elsa specifically saying, "it's my duty" (as queen), not just "be the good girl." There's that increased emphasis on her royal status to conceal "the unnatural." Here, instead of "I can feel my power grow" (English), you instead have "Every day keeps draining my strength" (Norwegian).
The implication actually reminds me of the Grisha from Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone: Elsa's powers and wellbeing actually suffer from repression and underuse, like a muscle she hasn't been allowed to flex for the sake of "propriety."

Love this song and her voice is incredibe. I find her singing voice too screamy in the first movie but the energy's amzing and you can hear she had a blast playing Elsa. Lisa's singing voice fits Elsa wounderfully it's so powerful, icy, queenly, beautiful, emeotional, soft, angelic and fits the big sister vibe perfectly. Lisa's Elsa sounds like the kindest big sister in the speaking parts love her. Her singing siayed in Frozen two she is amazing

Translation: I’ve always been kinda «oh, I’m Norwegian - how boring. There aren’t any other countries that like Norway the way they like South-Korea and Japan»
But after reading the comments about how well people liked the norwegian version, I feel a little happier about being norwegian. :)

This is similar to the danish in some parts, but generally this translation is way better. The danish one makes some odd choices and idk, it strays a unnecessarily from the original song in some parts, where it could have honestly just done what the Norwegian one did here. Anyway, this version is beautifully translated 👌🏼👌🏼

Native language aside, the Norwegian dub really _does_ fit Elsa best. Lisa Stokke has the _perfect_ voice: powerful, but also young-sounding and full of expression. This isn't some 40-year old woman belting her face off to prove what a great singer she is. Her voice serves to tell the story.

This is the real English translation:
can hear you but I won't
Some look for trouble while others don't
There's a thousand reasons I should go about my day
And ignore your whispers which I wish would go away, oh
    Whoa
You're not a voice, you're just a ringing in my ear
And if I heard you, which I don't, I'm spoken for I fear
Everyone I've ever loved is here within these walls
I'm sorry, secret siren, but I'm blocking out your calls
I've had my adventure, I don't need something new
I'm afraid of what I'm risking if I follow you
    Into the unknown
    Into the unknown
    Into the unknown
    (Oh)
    (Oh)
What do you want? 'Cause you've been keeping me awake
Are you here to distract me so I make a big mistake?
Or are you someone out there who's a little bit like me?
Who knows deep down I'm not where I'm meant to be?
Every day's a little harder as I feel your power grow
Don't you know there's part of me that longs to go
    Into the unknown?
    Into the unknown
    Into the unknown
    (Oh)
    (Oh)
    Whoa
    Are you out there?
    Do you know me?
    Can you feel me?
    Can you show me?
    ooh
    (Ah) ooh
    (Ah) ooh
    (Ah) ooh
    (Ah) ooh
    (Ah) ooh
Where are you going? Don't leave me alone
    How do I follow you
    Into the unknown?

    • @FlamSparks
      @FlamSparks  4 года назад +1

No, that's not what I meant. The lyrics operated very similar stylistic choices, which have nothing to do with the languages themselves:
      - ukjent land/ukendt land
      - lokkelyd/lokkekor
      - Vil du føre an?/Nu må du føre an
      - Våger jeg følge deg/Men tør jeg følge dig
These are only the similarities in ITU, but the same applies for the rest of the adaptations. They could have decided to make different choices in several passages, but they adopted the exact same solutions for too many passages to be a coincidence. The two lyricists highly likely collaborated to write the lyrics, otherwise the results would have been much more different, like the Swedish results, for instance.
