Title: Vis deg frem (Show yourself forth)
Elsa: Lisa Stokke - @LisaStokke
Iduna: Christine Hals - @ChristineHals
I swear, if they were not written by the same person, the Danish and Norwegian lyrics of this movie must be the result at least of a collaboration between the two countries: the result is way too fucking similar in too many passages of all songs.
Danish version here: • Show Yourself (Danish)...
Did you all believe that Aurora was the only Norwegian singer called to play an off-screen mesmerising call in the Frozen saga? Well, let me blow your mind. Christine Hals was one of the Norwegian composers Beck came across with while composing the soundtrack for Frozen 1. You know the loud voice we hear when Elsa runs off freezing the whole fjord? If you don't, refresh your memory at 2:34 in this video: • 17. Sorcery - Frozen (...
Well, that's Christine performing kulning, a singing technique diffused in the northern mountains of Scandinavia, especially in Norway, that herders used to call together livestock at the end of the day. Aurora's calls were inspired to the kulning that was first brought to the saga by Christine Hals, who was called back to dub the queen in the Norwegian version of the sequel.

This is such a beautiful rendition of the song, dare I say my favourite. Not only is it in Elsa's "native" language, but I feel like it really suits her the best. Lisa really captured Elsa's wonder, youth, and feeling of finally finding a home after being lost for so long. The singer who played her mom did an amazing job as well, with a voice that was so loving and kind. Thank you for sharing this and for translating it for us non-speakers!
Edit: Emphasis that this is purely my own opinion! Also, I'm editing my comment because I unfairly pitted one rendition against the other. They're all phenomenal in their own way and should be enjoyed as such.
I don't quite agree on Lisa (second last on my list), but I'm glad you liked it anyway ^^
@@FlamSparks No problem! Different strokes for different folks. That's what makes the world interesting. I saw that you had a video where you ranked the different renditions. I'll definitely check it out :)
assdddd
就
Lisa Stokke has a beautiful voice..... A voice from Norway.. 😍😢😢😭
Yes! 😍
Thank you glad we share a favourite
The Norwegian is such a beautiful language I like this so much just more and much than original actually I am not a Norwegian but beautiful it's her real language
Wow this is Elsa's native language dang OwO
If you like this one, try the Korean version! Even more spiritual, and beautiful!!!
no northen sami is elsa's native language...It officially created by disney
This gave me the chills like the original version, great job
In theory it is also the original. Elsa comes from Norway
@@mariusebeling6329 Elsa and Anna.
From the first time I heard the song in English, even the first part without words, it sounded like a love song to me. This song reminds me of when God calls you to something more than your ordinary life. Into your destiny!!! Reminds me of the Gaithers' song "Beyond the Open Door." VDF is a very spiritual song to me. And the Korean version is even more so. That one mentions being reborn two times!!!
Watch the Korean one. Omg. The singing is perfection.
Thank You many hate glad we share the same favourite
Her native language is so beautiful
Absolutely love the way the Norwegian gives us even more insight into the lore and fantasy: "You'll become a bridge" is such a perfect line to highlight Elsa's true nature, not to mention the literal, "Take my soul."
3:16 I do love how they put the eco in "mekting hav.." I didn't notice from other languages' version, and this Norwegian version is now my favorite!!
@@YarinaDeville the extra background vocals saying "mektig hav"
This made me want to sing it in norwegian and I'm not fluent in that yet this was epic
Go for it!
When Elsa's mom started singing I got chills😭
You have no idea how hard I've been grinding to learn Norwegian 🤣
This has to be one of the prettiest versions.
The English translation of this version was more accurate in places than the original English version.
I especially like the lines:
I've always been so lonely, hiding away in myself
I've always played someone else
Rarely showing my true self
That describes Elsa to a T.
(Edit: Thanks to 00Sunburn00 for the correct lyric translation.)
Original Lyrics:
English Translation:
Every inch of me is trembling
I can feel that I'm shivering
But not from the cold
But I'm not cold
Something is familiar
Something seems familiar here
Like a dream I can reach but not quite hold
Like a dream on its way, gone in the dusk
I can sense you there, like a friend I've always known
I can perceive you as a friend coming forth
I'm arriving, and it feels like I am home
And I feel like I'm coming home
I have always been a fortress, cold secrets deep inside
I've always been so lonely, hiding away in myself
You have secrets, too, but you don't have to hide
You have your depths in the glaciers near the mountains
Show yourself
Show yourself forth
I'm dying to meet you
I need to see you
Show yourself
Show yourself forth
It's your turn
In my mind
Are you the one I've been looking for all of my life?
Are you the one I've been waiting for my whole life?
Show yourself
Show yourself forth
I'm ready to learn
And show me in
Ah ah ah ah
Ah ah ah ah ah
I've never felt so certain
I've never been so sure
All my life I've been torn
Now the door is ajar
But I'm here for a reason
But here I am, asking you:
Could it be the reason I was born?
Can you show me why I was born?
I have always been so different
I've always played someone else
Normal rules did not apply
Rarely showing my true self
Is this the day? Are you the way?
When will I hear from you? Do you have a path for me?
I finally find out why?
I hope you have answers
Show yourself
Show yourself forth
I'm no longer trembling
My worries are gone
Here I am, I've come so far
I'm standing here, ready and waiting
You are the answer I've waited for all of my life
You have the answer I've been waiting for my whole life
Oh, show yourself
So, show yourself forth
Let me see who you are
Let me see who you are
Come to me now, open your door
Come to me now, speak to my soul
Don't make me wait, one moment more
Say what you must, and I'll be whole
Oh, come to me now, open your door
Oh, come to me now, speak to my soul
Don't make me wait, one moment more
Say what you must, and I'll be whole
Where the north wind meets the sea
Where the gale meets sea spray
Ah ah ah ah
There's a river full of memory
Memories dance against a mighty sea
Ah ah ah ah
Come, my darling, homeward bound
Seek, my love, find them there
I am found
I am here
Show yourself
Show it forth
Step into your power
And devote yourself to your power
Grow yourself
Grow up with it
Into something new
And you'll become a bridge
You are the one you've been waiting for
You are the answer you've been waiting for
All of my life (All of your life)
My whole life (Your whole life)
Oh, show yourself
So, come forth now
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
also with the part when the voice talks about the northwind and the sea.
Just want to say it's supposed to be "tal til min sjel", which means speak to my soul (and this makes more sense considering the context) ^^
It’s because Norwegian is so basic and not fancy. And can’t be spoken gracefully like English can. - Sincerely a person who speaks Norwegian

@@FlamSparks hmm... it gave me chills but it didn't do the same as the Norwegian version 😅 sorry hehehe, but thanks for sharing it though
Thank you
Fun fact, the voice leading Elsa is actually the Norwegian singer AURORA ? If you don’t know who that is, she is the one who sung for example runaway and no cure for me.
Such beautiful music in the sequel, and Swedish is such a majestic language. I love this and German so much!
This is Norwegian, not Swedish
This is the Norwegian version sang by Lisa Stokke and the Swedish version is sang by Annika Herlitz. It's alright you got them mixed up Swedish, Norwegian and Danish do sound quite alike
At 00:55 it is "i breen under fjell". You can clearly hear Lisa say the "U" sound, and there is no "Æ" sound
It’s because of her dialect and also because she’s pronouncing the « e » at the end of breene, and with her dialect it looks like the sound « u » 🙂
short u in norwegian isnt centralized
Just realized that the second time she sings "si det du må", there's a rather unfortunate autotune mishap, particularly when she sings "det". Otherwise, the performance is amazing and this updated S&T video is awesome! :)
Didrick Namtvedt saaaame, didn’t noticed till now
hvorfor bryr du deg
The voice of Elsa in the Norwegian dubbing also created the role of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried in the movie) in the original production of MAMMA MIA in London.

Norwegian lyrics
🇸🇯🇸🇯🇸🇯🇸🇯🇸🇯
Vis deg frem
[Show Yourself]
Vis deg frem, i mitt sinn
Hele mitt liv (Hele ditt liv)
Så stig nå frem ❄️ ~

"Ta tit min sjel"
Wow, that is so unexpected.
Yeah, that line was very incisive
it’s great to hear them in their "native" language! i really like this version, but i must say that lisa’s voice doesn’t really fit elsa. the other scandinavian versions nailed that way better. but i love them all!!!
Love Lisa's Elsa her singing voice is incredible it's so beautiful, sweet, soft, warm, angelic, emotional, icy, powerful and fits Elsa perfectly. I find her Let It Go over the top and screamy on the highnotes but the energy's amazing you can hear she had a blast playing Elsa and she truly performed the songs from her whole heart she's super talented❤❤❤
But she shines to me mostly in the speaking part's Elsa's cold side shine's trough but Lisa also play's the loving big sister vibe wounderfully one of the best speaking voices of Elsa's here❤❤❤❤❤
Her singing improved much in the second Frozen movie i find her too screamy of the Into The Unkown version but the energy's amazing and her falsetto is beautiful. She also killed it with the hignotes in bridge part together with Aurora.
She did well with the other songs but her Show Yourself performance is where she truly shines to me. Her falsetto is beautiful, she sang the song from her whole heart and the highnotes were incredible. Hope to see her in other Disney movies
Just by listening to norwegian u wouldn't notice how similar it is to English. But after studying it for a while it because clear that that English and norwegian speakers once lived in the same place in the past.
Love this Iduna

Half Norwegian 🌸💖
Disney, HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET PEOPLE WHO SOUND THE SAME BUT DIFFERENT LANGUAGE!?
i tried to sing along with it......
it kind of worked
Haha!
Ta is the wrong word in the line “ta til min sjel.” It is tal, not ta. Tal=speak. The line means “speak to my soul.” Not “take to my soul,” which makes no sense especially when the next line says “say what you must.”
2:34: One thing: "tal til min sjel" or "speak to my soul", rather than "ta min sjel" or "take my soul"?
The l is subtle, but it *is* there.
OMG!! I thought it was just all English only! And this makes me cry😭😭😭😲😲
❤❤❤
Such a Nice voice
Beautiful 😅😅
I love that strength
no way!!!! I'm crying!!!😭😭😭😭
@@Kocisaurus è uscito in Norvegia?
