Hello! I love this system you've set up. Are you using plywood with the KALLAX units to make them the correct size for the drawers? If so, what dimensions are you using? Thanks!!
The drawers are complete kits that can be purchased from Best Craft Organizer (BCO). And they’re awesome! I am literally in them daily, whether grabbing my earrings, a band aid or allergy medication. I’ve been noodling the idea of adding them to shelving in my garage to organize all the small tools, screws, nails, bits and bobs. The drawers are easy to remove and take to a work station so would be handy when working on a DIY 😁
The BCO inserts are very similar to the type of inserts you purchase direct from IKEA. There are three “walls”, left, right and back, and both the left and right sides have adhesive strips to keep them securely in place. Once in place, there are plastic rails that get inserted into the pre-made holes on the sides, so you can customize where you want the large, medium and small depth drawers. *And* BCO updated the material they use to make the drawers so they’re now less of that blueish white. I’m unsure if the new white is closer to the IKEA but still, good to know. 👍

Oh geez. I’m sorry to hear that. I’m actually researching to makeover my studio office closet and was exploring Boaxel in addition to others. What details of your closet are disappointing?
My closet tour is coming up in March. I made some DIY cabinets to store my luggage so I’ve been waiting to wrap up that portion to include in the video. 🙂

@@AlyMikos I want to say it's probably just me but haven't looked to see if others have experienced the same issues. It seems the brackets that hold the drawer slide have issues going into the track on the wall. It's the tiniest of adjustment to the metal that's needed and most of the parts worked but I did have issues getting 4 or 5 parts to be usable. By that time I was so frustrated I wanted to call a professional. Then when I bought new parts and got it adjusted I figured out my clothes were too high so now I need to adjust it all over again! Grrr. It should be easy but it's not. The shelves are heavy to hold while you're trying to get them on the bracket and the slightest of movement and it pops the adjoining shelf out. Idk, It just seems harder than it should be and frustrating!
I agree those ikea metal drawer rails are an exercise in patience. I went thru multiple iterations before landing on shelves for one of my pax units. I didn’t like having to open both doors to have the ability to pull out the mesh drawer. But I did struggle with the rail placement. I have 4 pax units in total, and only one ended up having the solid wood drawers in the end. I found that using the pax planner site helped me dial in the height to place my glass shelf above my pullout shelf for storing my sunglasses. Plus I had already constructed two other pax cabinets that had the clothing hanging rail and keeping them all the same height also saved some frustration. It’s the blessing and the curse of ikea. I was able to swap out various drawers options but each time, I went thru the painful task of removing and replacing the rails. And I took care to avoid striping/overworking the predrilled holes. I can convey that I’m approaching my 1 year anniversary with the pax system and once I was done with all the tweaks, I haven’t made any changes. I plan to film a tour of that space and will publish asap. 👍😁
@@StrategicallyHelpful I feel so much better now that you shared your experience with those metal rails in the Pax. I wanted the Pax really bad and waited for over a month for stock (I could have bought some of the pieces but they couldn't confirm when the rest of it would be available) so I gave up and ordered the Boaxel. Just today I added shelves over the mesh drawers to see if that helps with the arrangement. One of the shelves had the same issue as the rails, just a tiny bit off. I have a nice pile of pieces that I will be taking back on my next trip. Because even though it's a challenge getting IKEA pieces together, I still placed another order 🤷♀️

Correct, I’m Las Vegas and the items were purchased in mid spring 2022. It was during the supply chain issues but inflation hadn’t kicked into full swing.

The dark grey woven fabric bins are from Target. I just checked and they’re on sale today (12/31/23) for $8. They’re regularly $10, which is a better price than the comparable bins from IKEA. 😁

The clear divider containers I use to keep the fabric bins organized within are the ‘small modular storage boxes’. They come in at $3 for the 6.5 qt and I’m able to fit three into one fabric bin, basically giving the spacious fabric bin more versatility and I’m able to sort my smaller items without them getting lost in the bottom of the bin and get buried.

@@estherturner2232 ahh. Well then, (assuming you’re near an IKEA in UK) If it were me, I would explore the IKEA dronas fabric inserts that IKEA offers. The price point here in the US is seven-ish dollars per fabric drawer and then I would explore ways of upgrading the front facing panel. The drone inserts don’t align with the objectives that I was trying to get in my office studio, but there are definitely ways to upgrade the front or if you have a cricket or other cutting machine you could apply a vinyl appliqué that could uplevel the aesthetic. I will find a link to the appliqué. I explored and share it here. if you wanna let me know what your use cases I would be more than happy to share with you other options. I explored and solutions I considered from my project in the event they’re helpful to you. 😀
