  • Ian reviews the Lost Swordfish surfboard: www.boardshop.co.uk/brands/lo...
The Lost Sword-Fish surfboard from the design genius that is Matt Biolos is a board inspired by pro surfer Kolohe Andino but designed to be ridden by everyone.
A stretched out version of Kolohe favourite RNF Retro its basically a fast Pelagic fish, aggressive in template, with a wide powerful tail and an extended nose profile. Biolos set to work using the RNF Retro as a starting point. He narrowed the entire board a bit and pulled the tail in just slightly, retained the double side-cut ”Pelagic” outline, kept the tail rocker and bottom curves the same but blended the rails a bit more.
The net result is the board you see before you, a fast, hard turning, great paddling rocket fish that will work in waves from waist to overheard and doesn't mind a few bumps and a bit of wind. If you're looking for a board to sit above your groveller and below your performance shortboard the Sword-Fish a is a really good option to consider. It will suit a wide level of surfing skills from a low end intermediate to a top end shedder. The board packs a bit of volume but its all in the right place, under your chest, the rails are medium and not boxy so it engages the rail very fast meaning lots of spray and lots of fun.
Fin wise its mostly ridden as a thruster, the Kolohe signature fin would be a good choice naturally! Otherwise consider the FCS II Carver, a good all round choice for a wide range of conditions.
Boardshop is stoked to be a key partner for Lost surfboards across Europe and beyond. The staff here aim to surf pretty much every board we stock and we speak to surfers from all over the world and get their feedback on how the boards perform in all sorts of conditions and we think we're perfectly placed to talk about all aspects of Lost surfboards.
We're happy to consider trading in your old board against a new board, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to info@boardshop.co.uk or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250.
You can of course order a customised version of this board choosing your own preferred dims, fin set up and system (check out our 'Custom Board Builder' on the Boardshop home page). All you need to do is pump in the details and pay a £100 deposit with the balance due when we send you the board, average build time is 6-8 weeks.
