Mate, I’ve got a ford territory with a ZF (2007 with 307,000kms) torque converter shudder, a few slips and some other issues. It’s done the torque converter shudder for like 100,000kms. Still works.
Thank you Zac. You've acknowledged things I'm trying to iron out with my fgx turbo. I love it when seemly small changes make positive improvements. 🤓👍🇦🇺🥃🥃🥃🥃.
Hey Zac, I have a 2010 FG XR6 Turbo in Nitro Blue. I used to have my BOV blocked off like you do. (it gives the best dose sound) However I have since completed the Garrett Turbo course online and realised that it is way better for your turbo to run a basic BOV. I just put a simple 25mm Turbosmart item on. These genuine Garrett turbos are getting on in age and are worth a lot of money so it makes sense to look after them. Any questions please let me know.
Hey mate love your videos keep them coming..iv the same catch can did you just block off.the factory vaccum line at the back of rocker cover to install the line to catch can? Also do you also block off the one on antz intake? Cheers mate
@@smoothasbrothershey boys, watched your channel for awhile now & love the work you guys do. I’m keen to give your products are try & was wondering is the items you sent Zac an actual car care kit that I can purchase or do I need to purchase individually. Cheers
@ thanks legend! That kit we sent to Zac is the ultimate car care kit + additional wheel woolie brushes. We currently have some cracker Black Friday sales on 💪🏻
I Gilroys/ Monster Torque Built my ZF to handle 1200hp + everything upgraded transbraked.. 3800 lock up stall, paddle shifters.. My ute is making 1100hp on low boost (28psi).. the 1500km stop start under 3500rpm is the most painful 1500km you will ever do! Should of just went t400
So it hunts when you cruise at 1500 rpm, and also dips after a shift into 3, 4, 5 and 6th. It since however has been getting much better but will see how we go! ☺️
@@ZacBaldy ZF hunt is fairly common tbh, do you have PCMTEC on this thing? If not probably not a bad idea to grab the cheaper verison, you can lock the converter up downlow in the higher gears which will stop the hunting. I have made this chagne on mine and its the best thing i ever did.
Like I said in the first video, should have just bought a mint one and saved twice the money spent and all the hassle. Great to see companies help you out.
I prefer doing the work to make it mine, we could also put it this way… 1. I buy a 2000,000km Ute that’s in good condition for 20k 2. I buy a cheaper Ute for half the price with issues. I’ve now got fresh paint on half the car, a built tailshaft and built trans, both brand new ready for thousands more kms than stock, and I know exactly what’s in it. Plus a few extra spicy mods on the side like the Antz Gear for the same price, plus 3 months worth of content for people who want to watch an XR50 be restored ☺️ very happy with what I did 🤙
Did you have the valve body seals or solenoids replaced when the zf was built ? I had the same hunting issue in my g6e turbo sometimes with alot more rpm fluctuation then what yours had in this video. I serviced the transmission about 3 months ago and put a bottle of "lucas transmission fix" in it & It now feels better then it has the whole time ive owned it and the hunting problem is completely gone, atleast for now With your info makes me think it could be valve body related.
As far as I’m aware yes they have all been done. Thanks for your comment mate! I’ll keep working with R&S to find out why it’s doing it. At this point it’s leading to the external transcooler, I’ll work it out :P
@@ZacBaldy because you have removed the coolant from the system the box will never sit at a constant temp like it would under the factory setup. My question is though especially now that its summer, do your trans cooler fans turn on at all? For me, my fan turns on after around an hour of driving and usually stay on unless i get on the freeway for a longer period. If your cooler fan is not turning on at all then your box is never getting up to temp. I think its likely you mounted it in a spot with too much airflow. I have mine under the passenger seat and the trans only rev hunts for around 30mins at 70-75kph after that its fine. Behind the front bumper is another common mounting spot.
Sorta skipped through it … you are never going to have a trailer behind it are you Zac … unless someone gives you one as product placement and for free. 🤣
Hahaha yeahhhh look… the whole reason I bought this was because I want to get to more tracks in Australia. I have the Integra and I want to get on track more, trust me this thing will be towing more than you think 😉

Is it only shuddering when the zf is hunting? Also is it happening on light throttle in gears 3-6 ?

How built the new ZF and link pls
The external cooler will be the source of your revs hunting.
Is it due to the size of the cooler, or the fact it will never get up to temp?
@@ZacBaldy because you have removed the coolant from the system the box will never sit at a constant temp like it would under the factory setup.

How much you pay for the built box?
I heard banana skins in the auto can give it a new lease of life 👍
That and sawdust 😂😂
Had same issues with my f6 ended up being the fuel pump 🤦🏽

Aerofail coolers are rubbish . Seen big improvements just swapping that chyna junk to a good PWR cooler
I’ve seen that but never understood. So with the PWR cooler it theoretically should be the same, how does the cooler change how the transmission acts?
@@ZacBaldy as in the PWR coolers work and more efficient , better quality cores than the chyna stuff , seen a good 30 degree difference
