Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is the second of five all new adventures in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World™.
At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, with Jude Law and Johnny Depp. The cast also includes, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo, and Poppy Corby-Tuech.
“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is directed by David Yates, from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling. The film is produced by David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.
Slated for release on November 16, 2018, the film will be distributed worldwide in 2D and 3D in select theatres and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

It threw me off a bit because it's Sorcerer's Stone in America. Still don't understand why, but Sorcerer sounds a lot more dramatic.
I remember reading this somewhere. It is because American audiences have a lower understanding of English as a whole, and therefore they may not understand the usage of Philosopher in the title. Therefore, they distributed copies of the book with 'Sorcerers' stone instead so that it can be more easily understood. Its a bit weird, I wouldn't expect them to change the title of the damn book but they did...

If Newt's biggest fear is working in an office -- as in tied to their 9-to-5 job, he's badass, because he fears beasts less than something so mundane.
Newt doesn't fear beasts. Like, at all. If anything, he fears people.
Calling it right now, when he uses riddikulus on a boggart it's gonna turn into some creepy beast and creep everyone out but himself.

The 5th and last movie of the Fantastic Beasts serie will be set in 1945, I want the very last scene to be the graduation of Tom Riddle and we would see him disappear in the shadows as Dumbledore is watching worryingly from afar.

I know some are curious as to why we're freaking out over seeing Nicholas Flamel, but for those of us who've read the HP books, we know that in Sorcerer's Stone he was the alchemist who created the the sorcerer's stone. Can't wait to see this movie and it will probably be better than the first one, which I really enjoyed.

The idea that he'd be reliant to a magic stone was not appealing to him, according to Dumbledore. And considering the aging process is not exactly negated i'd say it is not that great of a deal.
That is explained in the books, go read them...

Oh that bit was answered in The Half Blood Prince. Riddle preferred operating alone. He *hated* trusting anyone nor anything. And to rely his life on a juice of a magical stone? He wouldn't like that, wouldn't he? Riddle wanted a foul-proof way to immortality, even if that way meant an excruciating one.

I was really sceptical about Depp playing Grindelwald, but after these sentences? I'M IN! I'M SO IN! This will be awesome, dear Muggles and Wizards, this will be amazing! And Dumbledore? Perfect. Just perfect. Can't wait.
Lune Daylight it looks more action packed than the other one... I think besides perfect casting, my favorite part was Nicolas Flamel showing up
0:10-0:30: Leta Lestrange standing in line. Her uniform has the GREEN lining meaning she's in fact Slytherin like the rest of her family (many have speculated she might have been Hufflepuff). During this entire scene she looks out of place and out of her mind.
0:30 - 0:38 : Newt makes a funny and everyone laughs except Leta Lestrange, still looking out of it.
0:45- 0:50 : The statue lifts her dress seemingly FOR Tina, maybe a secret message or passageway.
0:50-0:53 - (SPOILERS) It is confirmed that the Asian character is a "maledictus" which means a witch or wizard cursed to turn into an animal forever (more on this later)
0:53 - 0:56: (SPOILER) Introduction to Skender Circus: Credence joins the magical circus in a deleted scene in the end of the first film
0:56-0:58 : One of the posters features a snake-like creature and at the bottom says "MALEDICTUS", the human portion of the creature looks a lot like the Asian character whose only identity in credits is "maledictus" So she is the Snake Girl.
0:58 -1:00 There is a poster for the circus featuring "Snake Girl"
SPOILER THEORY: Some theorize that the snake girl is the origin of Voldemort's pet snake Ngini

Jude Laws delivery of "Muggles are not lesser. Not disposable." is stellar. There's so much emotion in that one line, I can't freaking wait to see him bring Dumbledore to life in a way we've never seen before. The most beautiful shots are the mirror and the fade in with Dumbledore and Grindelwald "looking" at each other. Whoever made this trailer is a genius! 💜😃

Exactly. He has come a long way from the young man who was obsessed about making wizards rule over muggles, the young man who befriended and secretly had feelings for Grindelwald. And still he sees his ex best friend (or crush) in the Mirror of Erised. Can’t wait to see how their stories unfold!

That's actually a great detail. It was always hinted that Dumbledore was lying. And Harry learns Dumbledore saw his sister in the mirror instead. But this movie is before Grindewald killed Dumbledore's sister.

If you're right, this movie just took a pile of crap on Dumbledore's character and completely missed his arc in the 7th book. Because after that incident, he resented Grindelwald and hated himself for being foolish. He longs for his sister because she's the casualty of his poor decisions.

Merryweather should have been doing them though, because Albus would have a full class of Transfiguration. That's 12 individual groups of students, over a week, a double class for each group once a week, as well as grading.

5 years of owls classes. And we saw in the books that they do combined house classes until the final two years of newts where they combine all four houses into classes. We also see from the books that there's a double unit of each class once a week. So, not his schedule, but the way the academic calendar works, yes.

Some people hate this movie but as a person who watched the film many times just to get the fulfillment I want, I could say this movie was made perfectly. Crafted gently and Amazingly. Some are asking what were the crimes Grindelwal made. Its just simple. Aside from escaping from the jail and killed the guards killing that small family, killing Irma Degurd through that Auror, being a Lier the evil plan the he made is what this movie really successful. With the used of his followers and through his Silver Tongue he was able to made a trap and convince people about his Goal. See? Thats what makes the movie so unique. Dylan Rowland I was thinking the contrary... But IMO Gambon closely followed what Harris made with Dumbledore. Especially in HP3 AND HP6.
I think Michael Gambon did a terrific job of stepping into Richard Harris shoes after he died. And I thought he matched Harris pretty closely but he also brought a bit of his own personality into it which I liked especially his sense of humor Gambon had a great sense of humor and he made me laugh. But I have to agree the Jude Law from what I've seen does seem to be closer to what Richard had done. But personally I always liked Michael Gambon as Dumbledore better but then again I had never read the books so I prefer Gambon take on the character and it's a shame that he was too old to reprise his role here.

I'd be surprised and find it odd if Tom Riddle doesn't show up before this series is over, and I think we will see that there was interaction between he and Grindelwald. Grindelwald is still nearing the height of his power and influence circa 1943, at which time Tom is 16 and already, in terms of skill, intellect and prowess if not yet global reputation, a master sorcerer, and is already in the process of horcrux creation (and just where and from whom did the talented Mr. Riddle learn horcrux making?? Even Slughorn didn't know the exact details, and all indicators are it was some of the most advanced and complex evil magic in the entire storyverse ). Beyond that, Tom is about 19 or close to it before Grindelwald is defeated and captured. 19 is a young man in pretty much every society, and the "wizarding world" confers full adult status at 17. Certainly, by the time of Grindelwald's capture, Riddle had already been operating as an extraordinarily efficient warlock, and getting everywhere he desired to go ( especially during vacation seasons ) for several years. Tom Riddle was the actual chosen "champion" of warlock-witch dominion that Grindelwald was REALLY looking for (Credence being more of a forerunner and anticipation of Riddle), and I think he will realize that before the series ends. With that in mind, and especially considering Tom's precociousness and brilliance, Tom's youth would have done nothing to deter Grindelwald from trying to form a mutually beneficial rapport with him. We've already seen Grindelwald mentoring and outright seducing a teenish Creedence Barebone, and Creedence was much less mentally advanced and massively less resourceful/capable than teenaged Tom Riddle, who by 16 was already murdering people, framing and powerfully confounding an uncle, and masterfully manipulating seasoned and formidable professors like Horace Slughorn. I think it is almost inevitable that some aristocratic high-school aged lackey of the mid-adolescent Riddle would have made it known to certain connected pure-blood parents/relations that they were in the inner circle of the heir of Slytherin; those relations would almost certainly have treated Tom like some manner of chosen one and come under his sway, and introductions to Gellert Grindelwald, whom they surely would have been secret supporters of, would then also have been inevitable. I don't think it is any mistake that the director of the final Potter films and the first Beast films had Grindelwald refer to Voldemort as "Tom" in their brief scene together in Hallows 1. The only people who called Tom by his birth name were people who knew him, and who were in a position of authority over him, before he took the Voldemort alias.
I'm not entirely certain whose story it is. lol. I, like many evidently, came for all the Dumbledore and Grindelwald plots, screentime and conflict. Newt's okay, as are his beast friends. Queenie is kinda cool, Leta seems interesting. However, they are already dragging in all sorts of notable names. And, even aside from fan service, there are questions about Tom Riddle and Gellert Grinelwald that beg for answering. You say Riddle was amply developed in the HP books, but in truth he was no more developed than Albus Dumbledore, who is one of the great points of interest in the current films. Aside from a certain infamous patricide and uncle-framing, we know virtually nothing of what Riddle got up to in his doubtless very active summers away from Hogwarts as a mid-late adolescent young man, and that entire period of his life came during Grindelwald's years of peak prominence. The deeds of Gellert Grindelwald and his larger threat at the same time period is perhaps the only good explanation for why a genius and brilliant detective like Dumbledore failed fully track what Tom Riddle was up to regarding a certain giant magical reptile. There is also the matter of where Tom learned the details of Horcrux making from, Slughorn certainly didn't know the specifics. And why does the filmverse version of Grindelwald refer to Tom on a first name basis and treat him as one already well known to him? And I don't think the Rosiers or the Lestranges can be overlooked in this. Vinda Rosier seems to be Grindelwald's chief henchwoman, and one of Riddle's earliest followers was a Rosier. Another was a Lestrange, and I don't imagine Rowling brought both those families into a prominent role in these films just for shits and giggles. There are some very strong reasons why it would be highly improbable for Tom Riddle and Gellert Grindelwald to NOT come each to the attention of the other, among them the fact that Grindelwald is actively trying to recruit talented magical youth with a disdain for "muggle" dominance, that he is already seeking a "chosen one" with power and talent to rival his own (a bill which Riddle almost uniquely fills, including in his own imagination), and that Riddle is seeking out magical lore that Hogwarts, under the influence of Albus D, strictly forbids and that Gellert Grindelwald, the most brilliant dark-leaning sorcerer of the age, would be the current reigning expert in. Each of them is the equivalent of an elephant in the other's room. It would be impossible for Riddle to be unaware of Grindelwald, and unlikely for Grindelwald to remain unaware of Riddle. If Tom isn't brought in at all, at least to the extent that Nicolas Flammel and Hogwarts itself are being brought back into the mix, it would be missed opportunity and odd to the extent of seeming like Rowling was going out of her way to avoid including Riddle.

1. Tom found the way to make horcrux from one of hogwart's library book. Dumbledore then hide it and it was found by Hermione after dumbledore's funeral. She explicitly told HP and Ron the book contain how to make horcrux, destroy it, and annul it.
2. Grindelwald already possess the elder wand ever since he's young (the book suggest he steal it from gregorovitch after his dispute with dumbledore at godric hollow). So you suggest Voldemort, one of the cleverest people in HP universe, would not recognize the elder wand if he met grindewald before? total bull.
but then again J.K.rowling nowadays always following her fans demands, and keep changing stuff in her own work, so I wouldnt be surprised if Tom will actually make a cameo at FB franchise and meet grindelwald for the sake of fanservice
Is that cannon?? Serious question. If so, could you please produce the quotes in question. I don't see anything of the sort in the Half-Blood Prince novel, at least not in the White Tomb chapter, but I won't rule out the possibility of me having overlooked something, nor the possibility of this information being present in some supplemental CANON ( but if it is something not by Rowling, i.e. not canonical, then I dare say it doesn't count and is just tertiary theory ) work. If it is not established in the storyverse canon, it can be dismissed, and the following things come into consideration. If Tom already knew all there was to know about horcruxes, it would seem he wouldn't have needed to ask Horace Slughorn anything further. I know he told Slughorn he read about it in the restricted section, but didn't Dumbledore clear out all the material on horcruxes that could be easily tracked?? Anyway, that " I just happened upon this in the restricted area of the library" sounds like a lie, and Voldemort is surely on the psychopathy spectrum and a pathological liar without shame. Unless Rowling has specifically stated otherwise, I think it likely that Riddle was already in contact with whatever great dark sorcerers of the day he could make contact with ( and none greater in that time than Gellert Grindelwald ), and that it is more likely that he got some of his horcrux information from them. As to why he didn't just ask Grindelwald about multiple such items, it would be totally in keeping with Riddle's secretive personality not to allow any one person to know too much about his agenda.

As for Tom with Slughorn, also explained in said chapter, Tom is not asking how to make horcrux, but rather asking slughorn's opinion on what if one made more than one horcrux/splitting soul more than once.

And to think when I first heard of a Fantastic Beasts movie back in 2016, I thought who wants to watch a movie about the creatures and Newt Scamander? screw that. THIS, this is what I've always wanted from the HP world since I first cracked open GOF. At that point, I think I knew what JK was creating, where it was headed but after DH, this is the deeper story that was needed all along. FB takes HP to a whole nother level. It's what I've been dreaming of for so long.
