The girl reading the donations did such an amazing job not spurting out every five minutes. She also sounds like the narrator voice from "Going commando"

That Opera Recital was by far the most amazing thing i've ever seen done on any of these Games Done Quick, hands down. Even the HUGE Donations and amazing Tricks. And believe me, I have seen a LOT of Games Done Quick. Just.... beautiful... brings a tear to my eye... :,)

it's depressing to see a game i have raged at for weeks be completed in half an hour
This man has 11 hours of game and is in the fifth playthrough. Well, I gotta say, I had 55 hours on my fifth playthrough, so this is quite impressive.
Ah, not to mention how he got every turret clip on the first turret, and when I tried it I had to use a lot of them.
if you take fastest times into account, theoretically he could get to his fifth playthrough in around 2-3 hours
I've seen Ricky in a few runs now and I just love to have him comment the runs, he's always hyped for every trick the runner will do and it makes me enjoy those tricks a lot more.
I used to beat this game in an hour all the time when I was a kid, these games where my obsession

Im playing constantly this game since 2004 i have completed over 100 times with 100% completion,but watching this i feel so noob
i feel so angry and stupid watching this. i spent more than 3 months trying to beat this game when i was 8. this man beats the entire game in under an hour. damn daddy
I completely agree to an extent, I think the developers were trying to make the game a bit more difficult because speed running the first game is actually very easy, and Commando too but Arsenal is pretty hard.
At the singing part I LOVE IT plus added killing all things in the way PERFECT

I finished it just yesterday on PS3! It took me way longer than this obviously but I managed to complete my first run in less than 2 days. I'm now through my second run to get the Platinum!

Whats the deal with the "kill/save the animals"? can someone explain me?
+needpit1 Supermetroid donation incentive. Its often the highest donation incentive in the event. Its a question of saving the animals at the end or allowing them to die

+Andrew Ryan there are animals that teach you certain mechanics in super metroid. they're trapped in a cave out of the way at the end of the game. since its out of the way the runners don't want to do it hence the incentive war
In Metroid, there's animals that serve as NPC's, and at the end of the game, when you're fleeing during a strict countdown, there's an extra area where you can jump down and grab them to bring back to your ship to escape with you. It's like an Easter egg because you find out in the sequel during a cutscene that they survived the explosion you escaped from, leaving the dark implication that in the first game you left them to die after helping you on your mission, just by not knowing about that hidden extra. Apparently it's a speedrunning meme now.

iirc, theres a strat for the si where you can turretclip into the slope and highjump into hyperstrike and get stuck in the slope so you cando it again, iirc, it is slightly faster

Timon its because all of his weapons are fully upgraded. normally the first boss would take about 1-2 min on first playtrough

27:00 Is he singing in german, if yes its so bad that i cant understand it as german guy.
1) like any other language, German has evolved over time. 1970s (?) German is not the same as modern German.
2) Since Italians dominated the opera scene at the time, a lot of opera- exclusive pronunciation changes were popularized by Italians who sung these songs with their Italian accents. There were also deliberate opera- only changes to pronunciations to make high notes easier to reach. (I learned this in choir class, for Ein Grosse Pein).
Of course Montecristo would donate for the opera.
