There's one thing i realised about the portrayal of Dwarves. They are not conquerors, they're not invaders. They colonize a place rich in resources, create their mighty keep, and defend it till the last dwarf falls. They're defenders, protectors. Dragon Age, Lord of The Rings, Warhammer. Every big fantasy universe pictures them in such way. That's why i love them. By far my favorite race in fantasy.
100% agreed! Disciplined, loyal, fearless, proud, great builders, as you mentioned, they never invade to conquer or destroy others. They protect what they have built, and they do it in an amazing way.
@@GeorgeMirtsekis Man, even in games xD I played Dwarves from Karaz Ankor and their army is literally "Wait for them to run up on me, then they die" or "It will take me some time, but imma get there eventually and KILL YOU ANYWAY!" Holding ground with these short bastards is basically effortless, and god forbid anyone attack their ranged units, because they can slap with the power of the ancestor gods and will not let ANYONE mess with them.
@@quill9648 Hahaha that's exactly what we love about dwarves! They have the strongest and most loyal warriors (and priests) of all the races! As you said it: "Just don't mess with them"!
I would mention the dwarfs in warcraft and warhammer aren't 100% pure in this way, in warcraft they had the whole war of three hammers and the dark iron dwarfs with their ways, and there are dwarfs in warhammer who fell to chaos and worship a dark god and enslave other races.
@@dwarfminerwillie Of course there are deviations from that image, but they're quite rare and far between, and usually once we mention them, we speak of the same dwarves, just gone evil due to corruption or growing really tired of their old ways not working out for them.
